AMD Athlon 64 FX-60

AMD Athlon 64 FX-60If you thought AMD's Athlon 64 FX-60, with a clock speed slower than its predecessor FX-57's clock, is slower than the latter, think again. The FX-60 is a spanking dual core processor which means two cores running at 2.6GHz - that's what I'd call raw power.

With 1MB Level 2 cache in each core, the FX-60 is quite similar to the dual core Athlon 64 X2 4800+ (which runs at 2.4GHz core speed). Compatible with socket 939 boards, this is also an overclocker's dream come true.

It's pricey, at US $1,800 (£820). More details from AMD as usual. For a full review, check out IT Reviews.
