Here’s another clever idea put into practice. Chrysler has announced that they will be packing their future 2009 cars with wireless capabilities. Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep models while have an uconnect system which will turn them into moving wireless hotspots.
Wireless Internet will be an option you can choose from your dealer and if you do so, you will have WiFi support while traveling. Via cell phone carriers that is. That means more Internet for your family or business partners while on the go. Simply have the uconnect hardware and software installed and go online from your laptops or smartphones.
This uconnect system will be able to link all your WiFi capable devices to your car’s electronics. That means you will basically be able to control your iPod from your steering wheel. There’s also voice recognition and touch screen interface for better navigation and real time traffic features. The cherry on top is an in-car 30 GB HDD with options for three channel satellite TV service and radio. I won’t spend that much time in my car anyway but it sounds all great if I did.
Ok but how much will all these extra option cost? Do I really need to be online while driving my car? How much more gas to the gallon do I have to pay to power up all these extra features?
