Nokia 6210 Navigator

Remember the Nokia 6210 Navigator? Yes, the very same phone with integrated GPS. It's officially approved by the FCC, so it's well on its way to the target release date of sometime in Q3 2008. A full-featured smartphone running Symbian OS, the 6210 Navigator is equipped with a 3.2 megapixel camera, as well as a secondary camera on the front for video conferencing.

The phone offers connectivity via a micro USB connector, and takes in microSD memory cards for additional memory. The nice part is the included self-mount car kit for this device - something amiss with the N95 and other GPS phones. It also supports Assisted GPS, and comes with on-board MP3 player and FM receiver.

TomTom XL 330S GPS.jpg

TomTom has rolled out two new TomTom ONE and XL Ranges for people who frequently require navigation devices while driving their cars. These devices have an ultra compact design. Both the devices belong to the award-winning car navigation product portfolio of TomTom.

"The distinctive design of the new TomTom ONE and TomTom XL, with the convenience of the EasyPort(TM) mounting solution, will set them apart from other devices on the market, and will appeal to customers looking for a compact, smart, ultra-portable navigation solution without compromising quality or features."

The revised audio system makes the TomTom’s latest devices more audible and clear even at high traffic points. The models are equipped with the latest maps at the time of production. However, if during the 30 days of purchase, the new map is put live, users can get it free from TomTom HOME.

Elektrobit's Concept Phone

I could actually see this working. I mean who wouldn't want a cell phone, a GPS receiver, a PDA, VOIP phone, AND a satellite phone bundled into one, minus the bulky satellite antenna. And the fact that it will all be laid out on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional with all the usual connectivity options including WiFi and Bluetooth makes me like this one even more. It will also have a QVGA touchscreen and a 3-megapixel camera rounding its already fabulous features, while being a tad bit thicker than your usual PDA phone.

If it becomes a reality, this do-it-all phone will work on quad-band GSM/GPRS, HSDPA, and satellite networks. The promised talktimes don't seem too bad with up to 5 hours on GSM networks, 3 hours on WCDMA, and 1.3 hours on satellite networks using its 1400mAh battery. It will be able to handle a variety of image, audio, and formats with support for newer video formats like H.264 and H.263 at 30fps.

Cost you ask? If things turn out well, Elektrobit claims that it can deliver this monster at the price of a regular cell phone. All this sounds sweet but the whole concept hinges on the Terrestar Satellite being up and running by 2009, which is when this baby is expected to roll out.

Rumored: Next Generation iPhone All in Black

|

black-3g-iphone-possible.jpg
June 2008 will bring up the new generation iPhones. 3G and better GPS are two of the most asked for features. The iPhone itself will be basically of the same size and shape but slightly thicker. The battery won't be removable just yet and it will possibly be a future third generation iPhone feature.

What I am not still yet able to figure out is the new design/color of the new iPhone. It has been said that the metallic back will be replaced with a glossy black one, but is this true or just a picked up rumor? Black could be an interesting third-party option only after all. Nonethelesss I'd be interested in how an eventual all black case will deal with any damages, scratches and so on. I'd choose the original Apple metal case.
