While the 3G iPhone is making all the waves world over, one of India's largest mobile service provider, Bharti Airtel, and Apple have inked an agreement to offer the iPhone in India. The announcement comes hot on the heels of Apple's agreement with Vodafone to sell the first-gen iPhone in India, signifying that Apple has changed gears and is no longer sticking to a single carrier to provide its best-selling device. Unofficially, the iPhone has already made it to the Indian shores imported in its unlocked state. The phone will also be sold in Singapore by SingTel, StarHub, and MobileOne carriers. At this pace, it might take another year or two for the 3G iPhone to make an appearance in these countries. So, better late then never, eh?

HiPhone Distributors Are Going to Get It!

|

hiphone.jpg
With the recent shortage of both 8GB and 16GB iPhone version, I am sure that some people thought about getting the HiPhone, probably not knowing 3G is coming sooner than soon.
HiPhone is, according to some standards, the best iPhone knock off. And I am sure there are a lot of them. You'd have to congratulate the Chinese people for their ability to clone any technological device no matter what size or what costs in order to make a profit. At some point they will be knocking off their knock offs right?

Of course Apple can't do anything about that but they can certainly take action against all those distributors selling the HiPhone. In Europe Apple's counsel Bird & Bird has issued notices threatening over €40,000 both in legal and damages fees for at least one HiPhone provider.

Does Your MacBook Air Need More Air?

|

zephyr_air.jpg
Apple's Macbook Air has at least one important problem to solve, and that is overheating. This problem has been reported and I would assume Apple would solve it by the time they launch the next version. Just in case your Air needs more air in order for you to keep doing what you're doing without any time off for cooling, here's an external cooler, the Zephyr from Moshi. It might be the world's slimmest cooler designed for the world's slimmest laptop.

Thinking Outside of the Box Saves Your Mac

|

Apple is thinking outside of the box all the time. I think I said this already elsewhere, but they are thinking so outside the box the box isn't even there. And that's what you'd have to do too as an Apple owner. That's what they expect from you when you use their products I guess..

This lady in New York had her house broken into. A few things were stolen, among which a Mac laptop. While at work she was given a call by a friend who told her laptop just logged in. Luckily for her, she works in an Apple store. She used another Mac and went Back to My Mac to get to her iSight built in camera on. That way she was able to see and even recognize the thief. The rest is history already, with the help of police she got her laptop back.

iPhone Surveillance Kit

|

People are coming up with so many applications for the iPhone and maybe that's why US and UK Apple stores are running out of them. Despite the fact the 3G si closer than we might suspect, lines are formed to get an iPhone. Is it because people use them at anything else except for talking on them.

If last time we showed you a video in which a plant watering device was powered by an iPhone here we have something a little better. In the short movie above you can see how, by using the touch screen and the OS we can integrate the phone into a surveillance system.

NBC Shows on iPhone and Touch

|

iphone-steve-jobs.jpg
If you are always watching a top hit show or two on NBC, you will take this as good news. What if I told you they are free? If you own an iPhone or an iPod Touch that is. If you bought any Zune lately you will have access to any of those shows in exchange for some of your dollars. How cool is that? Shouldn't all users, whether Apple's or Microsoft's get the same treatment? How come what others have to pay for is free to the others?

But wait, who said those free episodes' quality is watch worthy? You have to go to NBC.com from your http://www.mobilewhack.com/gold-iphone-black-night-edition/ or iPod browser and you will be offered the option of watching those episodes you wanted. Only this won't be quite that easy. It has already been reported that video quality is quite sloppy.

Some of you may already know about the rivalry between NBC and Apple's iTunes which seems not to extend to iPhone. Or in fact it does and they are going for iPhone's reputation. Is NBC trying to convince people it's iPhone's fault for not delivering crystal clear video? I am an Apple fan so I could be biased when asking that question but I think it isn't. NBC uses 3gp codecs for these free episodes and those codecs don't exactly merge that smoothly with Apple's OS...

Any Zune owner here? I'd like to know how NBC's videos run on your Zune thingy.

iPhone Shortage Hits UK

|

iphone-uk.jpg
While everyone is waiting for the second generation 3G iPhone, so many people are still going to buy "old" iPhones from Apple or carriers around the world.

Apparently a sudden iPhone shortage hit the UK and other European countries. O2 the carrier selling the iPhone plans ran out of stock both for the 8GB and the 16GB iPhone. Does this mean everyone is getting ready for the new? Are we going to see a multiple coordinated release from Apple? Is the new 3G smart phone going to come out earlier than expected? Are we going to face a premature birth?

I don't think so. iPhones are still available at Apple stores in the UK and probably more are on the way. But not all Apple stores have sufficient phones in store. An Apple store in New York ran out of iPhones too as this phone is really in demand. Don't people know the 3G is coming? Isn't anyone telling them that?

It's likely we're going to see more shortages like this one. But they will be dealt with I'm confident of that. As long as they sell that good, why should Apple discontinue replenishing stocks?

Apple iPhone 3G by Mid-2008: Analysts

3g-iphone-white.jpg

June may not be that far away, but that doesn't stop the hype surrounding the upcoming 3G iPhone from mounting. After the apparent live pictures last week, some more have surfaced on a Chinese forum, showing the iPhone garbed in white. The pictures show a slightly more contoured design with the new connector and the extra sensor at the top near the earpiece.

Whether this is the real thing or not is anybody's guess but we don't have to wait too long to find out, do we?

Customize Your Alienware Area 51 m17x

|

m17x_area51.jpg
There's no need to tell you what Alienware is and what they stand for, but just in case you haven't heard about them, they're an amazingly creative hardware company.

A while ago we showed you what Area 51 m17x is exactly so I would only have to remind you this is one of the most powerful laptops designed so far. It's a very expensive dependable choice whether you are a gamer, a writer or a hi-tech graphic designer. If you love movies or you yourself create any media, you should choose it too. I'd have a hard time choosing between the m17x, a couple of Dell XPS systems and a few Apple MacBooks.

The Area 51 m17x it's fully customizable online right now and ready to be shipped. Price ranging from $2200 to $4200 depending on what you mount on it. Which one would you choose?

11-27-07iphone-sm-2.jpgJust this morning, Vodafone announced a minor development in its day to day business. The news? They just signed with Apple to sell the iPhone in ten markets. How insignificant is that? The market includes key places like Australia, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy. This is a big breakthrough as these countries have been waiting for the hyped Apple device for a long time now ever since it was released June last year.

Other places covered by Vodafone is India, Portugal, New Zealand, South Africa and Turkey. The phone is expected to arrive late this year and as expected, will be a big hit on the said countries.

Rumored: iPhone Firmware 2.0 to Recognize Handwriting

It appears that Apple is thinking ahead following complaints on iPhone's touch keyboard usability. Is this just another rumor? According to this screenshot taken by a Chinese site it could be true. When is English/Any Language coming?

I have one a question though, or actually more than one. How are we to write? Which finger can be best used for such a writing endeavor? Is there a stylus coming to iPhone? Where is it going to fit? Is this a picture a fake after all? Will Apple release an official story? Is this new "technology" going to be based on Inkwell, the handwriting tool in Mac OS X?

Fujitsu Tablet PCs Prices Announced

|
fuji_t2010-u810.jpg Fujitsu LifeBook U810 and Fujitsu T2010 Tablet PC have been revealed since January at CES 2008. What we didn't know yet were their prices. The two tablet PCs have both the built in HSDPA modem for better, faster connectivity. 3G access will be provided, and there's no surprise here, by AT&T with download speeds from 600 to 1400kbps and upload speeds from 500 to 800 kbps. But let's look at the prices! The U810 model has an 800Mhz processor topped by 1GB of DDR2 RAM. It has both Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity options, an USB port, VGA out and Ethernet slots. The U810 runs either Windows Vista or XP and has a 5.6 inch touch screen LCD and a 40 GB hard drive. Battery life is up to 5.5 hours which is a good thing to keep in mind. If you choose this one you will have to pay $999 for it and add an extra $200 for the HSDPA modem. The T2010 has a 12.1 inch WXGA indoor/outdoor LED. The processor is an Intel Core 2 Duo 7600 with ultra low voltage. Battery life is said to be up to 11 hours which is remarkable. I would choose this tablet PC (with a Windows XP) if I needed one badly. This model's price starts at $1,499 but then you add the extra $200 for the modem. Remember the ModBook? How would you like a Fujitsu real tablet PC instead?

iPhone's Official Launch in India

|

india-iphone.jpg
Apple's iPhone is supposed to be launched in India somewhere in September 2008. This isn't breaking news but since I have been covering different countries today and their cell phone endeavors, I thought it's worth mentioning.

Vodafone is the carrier who will bring the iPhone to its Indian admirers. It appears it will be more expensive to get an iPhone in India. The 8GB version will retail for 28,000 to 30,000 INR (that's up to $740) with a plan I would assume. That's a lot of money to be asked for an 8GB iPhone, particularly now when the world is waiting for the 3G iPhones in June. On the other hand, it should be expected for other countries to sell such phones like the iPhone for much more than they are worth in the USA right now.

Is this the 3G iPhone?

|

2niphone.jpg

It's on again people. With all the hype that the first-gen iPhone created, the next-gen iPhone is already doing the rounds on the interweb with small trickles of information coming in and pictures, which are supposedly of Apple's next cashcow. Now, two pictures of what is purported to be the 3G iPhone have surfaced on a French site dedicated to the iPhone and it doesn't look half bad. From the pictures, all that can be gleaned is the Apple and iPhone logo on the back and the single button on the phone's face. It still is a mystery as much as it was yesterday and will continue to be so until Apple takes pity on us less mortals and reveals its closely guarded secret. And as always, we will let you in on it as soon as we know it. Continue reading to get a look at the other picture.

Tablet PC Modbook From a Converted MacBook?

|

modbook.jpg
Apple's MacBook is a proof to what thinking outside of the box means. It's a very reliable laptop for a multitude o situations. What it isn't is a tablet PC. Although tablet PCs have their popularity among a certain share of the market, Apple hasn't created any tablets (yet).

Axiotron took a MacBook and converted it into a tablet called the Modbook. What they simply did is remove the keyboard, mouse pad and LCD and replaced them with an LCD digitized display and a pen to work on that new surface. This is not a touch screen so your finger won't work. The price for which such a piece of equipment retails is $2.279. Too much you say? I agree.

I could give you specs but I won't because this machine uses everything from that original MacBook. Axiotron haven't changed anything under the hood and everything is still there working as it should. The OS is still a Mac OS X with no modifications other than adding the pen drivers.

So I think a better move would be waiting for an official Apple tablet. I am sure they aren't ignoring that segment of the market. I'd certainly wouldn't pay extra for turning my MacBook into something I can't fully use. What do I mean? I would miss the keyboard, and I'd hate the fact I can't switch from landscape to portrait or the fact that the new LCD is not as mobile as expected from a tablet. And if you really really need that tablet PC, you'd better get an extra one instead of turning your Apple into a mutant. That way you will benefit from both worlds. The artist in you will definitely choose!

Rumored: AT&T to Sell 3G iPhone from $199

|

att_iphone.jpg
The world is getting ready for the new 3G iPhone. Mobile carriers in the USA realize how big a hit the iPhone will be so they will be creating more and more deals meant to squeeze money from its subscribers.

The iPhones will sell no matter what and Apple will be profiting from that. Marketing ideas and thinking outside the box will also make carriers profit.

A rumor leaked from Apple. Apparently the AT&T, whom I was talking about yesterday, will sell an iPhone for $199. That's a huge 200 discount. Of course you would have to buy a 2 years plan but you get a cheaper phone. Apparently this deal will be available only in AT&T stores and not from Apple. If this proves to be a real think we'll keep you posted both with more details about it and with more specs of Apple's second generation iPhone.

Canada Welcomes iPhone Arrival

|

preview.jpg
That's right, Apple's iPhone is arriving in Canada. Who is bringing it? Rogers Communications Inc. is the company that stuck a deal regarding the rights of selling iPhone's in Canada.

With the much debated second generation 3G iPhone unveiling in June, neither Apple's nor Roger's spokes people mention any details of the deal. What we know for now is that Roger Communication Inc. will definitely sell the iPhones. There's no info on prices, plans, or the actual date the iPhone will enter the Canadian market.

Rogers Communication Inc. are a rapidly growing Toronto based company. It is currently the leading cell phone and wireless service provider as well as an important cable operator. So if you have been waiting the official iPhone Arrival in Canada, you wait is almost over.

New iMacs Are Here For Mother's Day

|

apple-imac.jpg
Apple is getting ready for Mother's Day with a new iMac series. If you were about to buy one, hold your horses just yet and wait for a couple of more days.

Here's what a new iMac will offer:

  • Faster processors - 6MB L2 cache

  • Faster 1066 MHz front-side bus across the entire line

  • 2GB of memory standard in most models

  • 3.06 GHz Intel processor - for the 24-inch iMac

  • the high-performance NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS graphics - for the 24-inch iMac

These last few days it was rumored a new iMac will pack Intel's upcoming Core 2 Duo Extreme X9100 chip, in preparation for the future "Montevina" Centrino 2 which is supposed to deliver better results for less power consumption. After all that talk it appears that the new iMacs aren't using Montevina, but a 45nm Penryn 3.06GHz chip with a 1066MHz frontside bus.

Foxconn to Manufacture 24 Million 3G iPhone

|
3Giphone.jpg Well it couldn't be more clear than that. The second generation iPhone is coming for sure in June. Foxconn are assembling according to the Chinese Commercial Times. They are expected to produce 3 million 3G iPhones in June only and it's estimated they will manufacture 24 million by the end of this generation's life cycle. Despite all that, there's no official announcement. Everyone is waiting for Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference 2008 (WWDC 2008) in June and everyone is counting on this 3G iPhone to be finally produced. For now Foxconn are the only manufacturers of the first generation iPhone. Continue reading:Foxconn to assemble 3G iPhones with shipments to total 24-25 million units, says paper

How About a 24kt Gold Macbook Air? Anyone?

|

macbookair1_15699.jpg
I've always said my next laptop will be a Macbook Air. Well I've always said that for only a few months until my actual Dell gave up and died. Then I started thinking I might be better of waiting for the second generation of fresh Air. Now I am considering the 24kt Gold Macbook Air above (not!)

I mean sure I appreciate the cool looks and I appreciate it's an Apple we are talking about. Nevertheless this pimped up baby costs somewhere around $8000. That's what you have to pay to afford the sapphires lighting up on the actual Apple logo or the slick Gold case. It's out of my reach for now but I pretty sure buyers will line up for this unique piece of jewelry.

If you are interested for such an upgrade, you'll have to talk to the guys behind Computer Choppers who are making it. And as a bonus to all that gold, you will still get the Intel Core 2 Processor, the 80GB hard drive and the 2GB RAM. What could you ask for more?

Rumored: Next Generation iPhone All in Black

|

black-3g-iphone-possible.jpg
June 2008 will bring up the new generation iPhones. 3G and better GPS are two of the most asked for features. The iPhone itself will be basically of the same size and shape but slightly thicker. The battery won't be removable just yet and it will possibly be a future third generation iPhone feature.

What I am not still yet able to figure out is the new design/color of the new iPhone. It has been said that the metallic back will be replaced with a glossy black one, but is this true or just a picked up rumor? Black could be an interesting third-party option only after all. Nonethelesss I'd be interested in how an eventual all black case will deal with any damages, scratches and so on. I'd choose the original Apple metal case.

The New LG Prada II Cellphone

|

lg-prada-2.jpg
The LG Prada could be considered a wannabe competitor for the iPhone. Smarter than a regular (LG) phone but not even close to the iPhone. And as Apple prepares for 3G and more it's only logical that LG wants and has to keep up.

Apparently LG has a successor for Prada, the Prada II, supposed to be launched in late Q4 2008, and from the info that leaked so far it will be worth considering.

  • The new LG Prada II Cellphone is said to offer:
  • 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen - 400x240 resolution
  • 5MP built in camera
  • front camera for video calls
  • Wi-Fi connectivity
  • HTML full browser
  • FM radio
  • 7.2 mbps HSPDA
  • micro SDHC support
  • USB 2.0
  • TV out
  • full Qwerty slide out keyboard

What would you choose? The upcoming new iPhone or the Prada II?
