Sony Net-Sharing CAM for Social Networkers

Sony Net-Sharing CAM

Somebody had to go and do it. This time, it's Sony. Sensing a void in the social network user's desktop, Sony announced the new Sony Net-sharing CAM, a pocket-sized camera targeted at video bloggers and social networkers who regularly upload photos/videos onto the web.

The Net-sharing CAM allows seamless uploads of short video clips, and even takes 5-megapixel still photos. At 5 oz, it's hardly noticeable in your pocket, measuring just 1 3/16" x 4 1/8" x 2 1/4".

The CAM can record up to 5 hours of web-ready video on a 2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo card, in MPEG4 format. Picture qualities range from QVGA/15fps to VGA/30fps (viewable on TV). A sharemark button allows you to tag the videos that you want to upload.

Pre-loaded with Portable software, you can directly publish videos to Crackle and other video sharing sites. The camera includes a built-in flash, 4x digital zoom and a 2.4" LCD screen. A Li-ion battery powers it up (expect 90 minutes of battery life).

Priced at US $200, the Sony Net-sharing CAM will be available online on Sony Style and in retail locations.

Sony CS1i Concept Phone

Sony%20CS1i%20Concept%20Phone%202.jpg

Now for something totally different, a concept phone made by a fan. As expected there aren't many detailed specifications about the mobile device, but what counts is the intention of making it look good, and by the image that point was a success.

The Sony Ericsson CS1i concept phone comes with:

- a 7megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom - pretty impressive, even for a concept
- a touch screen display
- and a big resolution 320x416 pixels

The concept phone in question was made with 3ds Max.

Sony Ercisson's DS980 Bluetooth™ headset

hbhds_980_c.jpgEver since its launch way back in may the headset has garnered some attention. Sony Ercisson's new DS980 quite easily goes into 'must have' list. It is one headset which definitely makes listening to music and taking calls a quality experience. Designed stylishly it delivers a thump in your ears when listening to the music and at the same time gives a crystal clear voice when you are making and listening to calls. The headset gets Sony's trademark 'in-ear-phone' design and also they've incorporated a Digital noise cancellation/echo reduction technology to reduce background noise.

The Charcoal casing and the hidden OLED display go hand in hand and makes for quite an impressive package. That apart, the AFH(Adaptive Frequency Hopping) reduces the impact of interference between wireless technologies, resulting in excellent audio quality. Another interesting feature is the Automatic volume adjustment, which adjusts volume automatically as soon as you walk into a noisy environment in less than a second. Other features include Auto pairing and Talk/standby/music time of 6/300/6 hours.

No word on the pricing and availability as yet. The caption "coming soon" is still visible in the Sony Ericsson website.

Sony W999i in the Works

Although it has not yet been confirmed by Sony themselves, it looks as though we may very soon have a new Walkman slider phone in our midst. The phone appears to be branded under the name Sony W999i.

If this is in fact a real phone that Sony is producing, it is likely to include such features as HSDPA connectivity, 2.4" 262K color QVGA screen, a 2-megapixel camera with autofocus, and should be about 12.5mm thick.

These images surfaced on a Swedish website, after rumors and grainy images hit a couple forums last week.

Rumor: PSP Phone in Development?

PSP_phone.jpgThere has been a rumor going around that Sony Ericsson might be working on a Playstation Portable branded phone. When the question about a possible PSPhone was brought up to SCEA, they responded with a no comment. But PSP’s senior marketing manager did mention that they are always evaluating new technology and listening to ideas and wants consumers have to offer.

Recently, Sony Computer Entertainment’s CEO Ken Kutaragi has revealed some new clever additions for the Sony PSP. Of the new additions included confirmation of a special add-on device which could turn the PSP into a phone. It is still currently under development.

On another note, browsing through the net I managed to find what seems to be a knock off of a PSP phone, not branded under the trusted Sony name. Apparently, over in china a PSP wannabe phone has been developed( the V191) which has a likeness of a miniature PSP. It seems that is doesn’t support PSP’s UMD disc, but it does include a Nintendo emulator, which games can be added via microSD memory cards. Aside from the gaming, the phone includes features such as: a 1.3MP camera, MP3 music player, and an MP4 video player. Lacking a numeric keypad, the phone also features a touchscreen to control any dialing or other phone navigation. In Hong Kong, the V191 is selling for about $650USD.

Sony Z750 HSDPA Phone

This is one phone to take note of for sure - the Sony Z750, their first tri-band HSDPA phone released in the North American market. If you've been looking for blazing fast broadband-like speeds on a cell phone, this might be just the phone you've been waiting for. It's high speed internet capabilities allow you to browse the web as it was meant to be, and makes checking your email a breeze.

Because of the phone's mirror-like outer finish, you might not notice the phone's external display unless you look very closely. Of course as the user of the phone, you'll be able to see on it who is calling in or texting you, but everyone around you won't. Perfect for when you're texting on the sly (not that we recommend that).

The phone also includes a number of great features, including true push email, live scrolling RSS feeds, and more. The phone also has a 2-megapixel camera, and with the HSDPA capability, you can upload your pics easily to your favorite blogsite for cool picture blogging. Not only that, but the phone's amazing 2.2-inch screen is great to share photos with your friends and family. The phone also has a nice built-in FM radio with RDS, and 3D gaming capabilities.

The hot new Sony Z750 phone is available in two colors: Phantom Grey or Rose Pink. It will be available in the North American market in selected markets from Q3 2007.
