Samsung Jet: A worthy iPhone competitor?

|

No it's not an iPhone or a Palm Pre, hell it's not even running Android, but instead it's Samsung's previously unannounced Jet. This phone came seemingly out of no where but from the looks of the specs its shaping up to be an amazing device.

The phone features an 800MHz processor (as compared to the iPhone 3G S' 600Mhz) a 5MP camera, a 3.1-inch touchscreen AMOLED display, A-GPS, 2GB/8GB of internal storage with a microSD slot for an additional 16GB and last but not least a Samsung developed Webkit-touting web browser entitled Dolfin. OS wise its said to be running TouchWiz 2.0 which is a Samsung developed UI hoping to make for a more immersive and intuitive experience.

Now unfortunately there is no word on if we will ever see the Samsung Jet hit stateside but if/when it does its sure to generate quite the buzz. You can get more information on the Samsung Jet, courtesy of Samsung USA, here.

Samsung makes Omnia II official

|

If you were bummed about the Samsung Jet's US availability you have no worries because the almost identical looking Omnia II (pictured above) was just announced. This handset will be the successor to the Omnia and will feature specs identical to what was leaked earlier this month.

Samsung's Omnia II will feature a 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen with resistive touch, Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional with Samsung's TouchWiz 2.0 UI, the ability to playback and record 480p video, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, Wi-Fi and up to 48GB of storage.

Now considering Samsung's original Omnia was on Verizon I think it's safe to assume the Omnia II will also make its way to the carrier at some point in the near future.

Samsung OmniaPRO B7610

|

It looks like those people saying that the B7610 Louvre phone was going to be called Omnia Pro were almost right. Samsung unveiled today two OmniaPRO phones, the B7320 and the B7610 formerly known as the Louvre.

The B7610 will offer you a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard and an impressive AMOLED touchscreen. Other important features are the 5-megapixel camera, HSDPA connectivity, AGPS, WiFi and Opera 9.5 browser. These features will make the phone an important asset both to your personal and professional life. Working on the go or looking for some mobile entertainment? The Louvre will deliver in both cases.

We're expecting the B7610 to come with Windows Mobile 6.1 on board which should be upgradeable to Windows Mobile 6.5 and we're waiting for a carrier to pick it up.

What would you choose between the Samsung OmniaPRO B7610 and the HTC Touch Pro2? They are similar phones with similar features. What manufacturer do you love most?

Samsung Omnia 2 Leaks Already?

|

The Pre and the iPhone 3GS are out in the open and in about 10 days they will be selling together. I guess everyone else in the business is considering ideas to try to fight against these two hot phones. That's why Samsung someone probably leaked the GT-I8000 or the Omnia II to the public. The phone will offer a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED display, an 8.1 megapixel camera with dual-LEDs and VGA video recording, a 1500mAh battery, HSDPA connectivity, Windows Mobile (dare we say 6.5?) and a custom UI similar to the one on the S8000. With arrival dates and prices still hidden for the public eye will the Omnia 2 sell as good as the Pre or the iPhone 3GS? Will anyone wait for this baby to be officially launched? And just for the record, this is another Samsung phone dubbed as the Omnia 2 and we hope this time it's the real thing!

Samsung m850 Dash has a protective screen cover

|

Being hailed as the "true" successor to the Samsung Instinct instead of the S30, the m850 Dash is yet to give us an official peek, but that's not stopping Zagg from spewing out a few protective covers for it under its invisibleSHIELD brand. While the scratch-proof, military-grade protective film will be great, what we are more interested in is how the Dash looks, which is evident by the picture they have put up to show off their wares. So, how do you like it? We still have no information on its specs though it would be safe to assume a touchscreen HVGA display and support for Sprint's CDMA and EVDO networks. The Samsung m850 Dash is scheduled for a summer release, provided Sprint doesn't have a change of heart to move it further.

Samsung Tocco Lite Available in the UK This May

|

UK customers will be able to choose a new Samsung phone this May. The Tocco Lite is a touchscreen phone which doesn't have any 3G support. That's a weird combination but the whole 3G-less feature will make people change their minds about buying one.

Nevertheless the Tocco Lite or the Samsung S5230 will offer you the following:

  • Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity

  • 3 inch TFT touchscreen display with 262K color and 240 x 400 pixels

  • TouchWiz UI

  • Accelerometer

  • Facebook, MySpace and YouTube widgets

  • Bluetooth 2.1

  • Samsung DNSe 2.0 music technology

  • FM Radio with RDS

  • 3.2 MP camera

  • 50 MB of built-in memory

  • microSD card support, up to 8 GB

  • 104 x 53 x 11.9 mm

All we need now are some prices and we expect the Tocco Lite to be available for a great price since it lacks that important 3G support.

Samsung i8910 goes to Italy as Omnia HD

|

Samsung seems to have finally realized that it would be foolish not to use the successful "Omnia" moniker and has decided to use it after all with the Samsung i8910. The i8910 is now scheduled for a release in Italy as the Omnia HD, although Samsung may still go ahead and release it as the i8910 HD in other markets. Making the event a bit more special is Samsung's colloboration with the movie, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which will be opening the same week, for the release of Omnia HD in Italy. As we already know, the the i8910 is similar in most features to Samsung Omnia with a few worthy upgrades, the most notable being an 8-megapixel lens instead of 5 megapixels and the use of AMOLED technology instead of TFT for its 3.2-inch touchscreen display. We still have no idea whether it will be able to record vidoes in 720p, but considering the HD tag that is attached to its name, we are betting it will.

Look for it to land in Italy on April 29 at an undisclosed price.

Samsung B7610 Louvre surfaces

|

This may seem out of the blue but that's the way most cell phones get leaked, isn't it? Touted to be a successor to the F700, a new smartphone has popped up on ThePhoneHouse (Dutch subsidiary of Carphone Warehouse) called the Samsung B7610 Louvre. Details are sparse as of now but from the picture, we can assume that the device will be running Windows Mobile 6.1 and has a full QWERTY keypad. We will have to wait for Samsung to open up for other details and with a release date of July according to the website, they better make it official real soon, before blurry pictures or detailed spec sheets start emerging.

Samsung S5200, M2310 and M2510 spotted in Netherlands

|

m2310

Samsung is very witty in promoting its phone models. Samsung M2310 was under cover in Brazil, where as in Dutch the company seemed to exhibit this low-end model overtly.

Along with the M2310, other phones that made appearance at the Dutch Trade Show were the M2510 and S5200. Yes, I know most of us are unaware of these models. Well, among these the S2500 seems different.

Boasting a trendy two-tone black / red scheme, the S2500 comes equipped with a 3 megapixel camera. The M2510 slider infused with QVGA display, FM radio, and VGA cam bears dedicated music keys.

These three upcoming phones by Samsung are much awaited by music lovers who do not want to spend more and yet enjoy the music beats on their phones.
