A new ROM update for the Treo 755p has just been released under the name ROM version 1.07. And guess what -- Palm describes it as:

This software update is a tune-up that improves audio, stability, software quality and device usability.

Can't be any vaguer than that. With the way the description's written, the update might be mere bug fixes and the like. But hey, then again, a vague update is better than your OS collecting cobwebs, right? It takes around 45 minutes to completely update to Palm Treo 755p ROM version 1.07. Different installation methods for Windows and Mac are available.

Palm is taking pains to reach a new customer base. In effect of disappointing sales, and in an effort to rebound, Palm has released an unlocked version of the Treo 500v. The erstwhile Vodafone-exclusive is now available for subscribers of other networks. Can Palm make a comeback in 2008?, once a almighty company that laughed at its rivals attempts to compete with them, it is now sadly facing the biggest struggle for surival of its live. 2007 has been a very horrible year for Palm and everyone is at a lost for a reason why. Everybody knows Palm, their phones are world class, whole communities (like Apple and Blackberry have) are dedicated discussing everything Palm. God can only hope that it doesn't go the way of Sony's walkmans. But really when you think about it a bit, Palm has still got so much going for it, they cuts cost recently (But Sadly Job cuts), they got a new CEO (Former Apple executive, you can't get better than that), the brands still strong, there products are great and hopefully they will have a million geeks behind them in 2008. I think all they need now is Google Andriod and their set.

It seems that a treocentral forum user, who goes by the name of Malatesta, found some interesting information regarding 4 projects that Palm is currently at work on and one of them is quite possibly the Palm W800. Apparently the user was reading emails exchanged between Palm and the FCC and dug up four code names of current Palm development. He then goes on to explain how he came to his conclusions about how the Palm W800 may very well be on the way. Verizon Wireless has finally sealed the deal with Palm to include the smartphone Palm Treo 755p under its product line up. This handset is already available for Sprint subscribers for more than 6 months.

Palm's in trouble big trouble once a global leader in producing awesome smartphones, Palm this year has had a very hard time competing in this sector. Palm's hotly rumored "Gandolf" will be a larger release than expected, a new leak reveals through updated specs. The Windows Mobile phone keeps a similar form factor and same Vodafone branding as before, but now has a darker color scheme and a bigger screen. It is now a metal-accented smartphone and should officially take its place in the Palm lineup as the Treo 500 series and will come in more than just the white, Windows Mobile 6 version shown in the past.

In addition to Windows Mobile, the Treo 500 will lack a touchscreen and feature 3G internet. The budget emphasis also won't stop the handset from featuring the same 64MB of RAM as the more expensive Treo 700wx or 3G wireless Internet through HSDPA for those on GSM providers.

Also finding its way into the phone would reportedly be a 2-megapixel camera, 256MB of built-in flash for storage, and a Bluetooth transmitter with stereo audio support. Updated release information isn't included, leaving releases beyond Vodafone a mystery.

Electric Pocket's Ringo Mobile, the leading ringtone manager for Pocket PC Phones and Windows Mobile Smartphones, now supports Windows Mobile 6.0. Along with this comes other features and more options for identifying incoming callers.

This new feature lets users identify who is calling with an MP3 or a glance at a picture on the screen. Among the new features of Ringo Mobile is the ability to quickly and easily associate a picture or other graphic to appear when incoming calls arrive.

Palm has launched their Treo 700wx smartphone in Israel in cooperation with Pelephone, the leader on cellular provider services at Isreal. The phone will be inserted in the CDMA/EV-DO network and is already available at Pelephone stores.

About the smartphone itself, the Treo 700wx features a touch-screen display with 240x240 resolution and comes with the Windows Mobile 5.0 platform. It has a QWERTY keyboard to make life easier for everyone, a 1.3 megapixel camera to shoot some cool photos, and supports the usual Bluetooth headsets. Inside there are 64MB of RAM to make it faster, and to store all the data you need to have on the smartphone there is a slot for a SD memory card that can hold 2GB.

Palm introduces the next-generation Treo 755p, coming soon in mid-may. The handset will be available from Sprint and will be offered in two fashionable colors, midnight blue and burgundy. With the new Treo phone, mobile professionals will stay connected, productive and entertained.

A follow up for the 700p, the 755p Is the new phone in the Treo line, and is reported to be the first one with an internal antenna. But I'm sure you could get that same information from the leaked photo. The phone is stock with EVDO, instant messaging, native voice dialing (a first), and and a rumored feature referred to as "mobile voice control". The phone still has the lame 1.3 MP camera, but the picture quality is rumored to be much greater. No word on pricing yet, but the expected launch date is supposed to be May 14th 07'.
