LG Aigen LG-GM730

|

June is a hot month in the mobile business. Following the iPhone and Pre announcements we have Samsung, Nokia, RIM and LG responding with similar handsets meant to try to keep up with the competition.

We've seen the Nokia E72 getting official and we've seen five new phones coming from Samsung. It's time to take a look at LG's Aigen LG-GM730. The phone is now available in Korea but there's no price for it. Getting passed that odd fact you could like some of its features. The LG-GM730 will offer you a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen display, WiFi, AGPS, 7.2Mbps HSDPA connectivity, 5-megapixel camera, FM radio, and Windows Mobile 6.1 with S-Class 3D UI. The phone is just 11.9mm thick and it will be available in black, pink and lime. Anyone interested in it?

Acer F1 smartphone to be powered by Snapdragon CPU

|

Along with some Windows Mobile 6.5 hotness, we now have news that the upcoming Acer F1 smartphone will be powered by the blazing fast Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU. But unlike the Toshiba TG01 which tops out at 1GHz, the F1 will be limited to a 800 MHz, which although low by computer standards, should be enough horsepower to run a cell phone without a hitch. As we said already, the handset will be running Windows Mobile 6.5 with Acer's homebrewn Acer Suite 2.0 UI akin to HTC's TouchFLO 3D and the same could hold true for the Acer E1 and L1, which will also purportedly run WM6.5.

According to AllAboutPhones who got to spend some quality time with the F1 recently at an Acer event, we might actually see a release date as early as September, so we won't have to wait too long to get our hands on this quick fella.

HTC Touch Pro2 Will be Available Anywhere

    |

Not every hot phone that gets announced will make it to every corner of the world. Sometimes the cool phones arrive to only one certain market which tends to bother everyone else. Well we have some good news for future HTC Touch Pro2 buyers. HTC announced via it's Twitter account:

And to answer the big question on everyone's minds, the Touch Pro2 will be broadly available in all major markets, including North America.

Maybe the Touch Pro2 won't exactly make it to every corner of the world, but it will certainly boldly go where other HTC handsets have never gone before. The phone will begin shipping in late Q2, so get ready to wait.

INQ1 Wins Best Mobile Handset Award

    |

INQ1, a social mobile handset from the Hutchison Whampoa company, won the the Best Mobile Handset award earlier at the GSMA in Barcelona. The INQ won the award over four other shortlisted contenders including the Nokia E71, T-Mobile G1, RIM BlackBerry Storm and LG KS360.

This award is the most coveted and fiercely contested prize in the mobile industry and is given to a device with the combination of design, technical excellence and functionality that comes together to position a product at the top of its market.

The INQ is an HSDPA handset that provides one-click access to fully integrated applications including Facebook, Skype, Windows Messenger and Last.fm. The intuitive navigation offered by the switcher key and menu carousel, along with instant information provided by the home screen widgets and the integrated phonebook, deliver an experience so intuitive that it's easy and fun to stay connected.

The INQ has a 3.2MP camera that allows for photos to be directly uploaded to Facebook, while preloaded modem drivers mean the handset can double as a plug and play dongle.

    ZTE Coral-200-Solar Phone

    |

It's not the Blue Earth from Samsung and it's not LG's future solar phone but it's a solar phone nonetheless. It's the ZTE's Coral-200-Solar phone from Digicel meant to be a cell phone solution for those regions of the world where people don't have any power outlets available or can't afford them. That's about 2 billion people around the world, so making a solar mobile seems a rather logical decision. The phone will charge its battery on its own, straight from that solar power. It will be available in June for an undisclosed yet price.

Acer Handset Inspired From the Glofiish DX900?

    |

We have no information about Acer's first smartphone and MWC is two weeks away. However, according to this leaked image of it, the Acer handset will resemble very much to the Glofiish DX900 from E-Ten. Acer owns E-Ten so it makes perfect sense for them to take some of the existing technology. But did Acer copy everything? The DX900 had GPS, dual-SIM support, a 3 megapixel camera, a 2.8-inch VGA touchscreen and Windows Mobile 6.1 OS to make everything possible. Will Acer take everything?

On the other hand this might be just a photoshopped image and the real thing is coming to the MWC.

Sidekick LX 2009 Seems Even More Real

    |

We've shown you that blurry picture of the LX 2009 which was filled with specs and pictures. Well we have a better quality picture showing the same features and pictures. The logical conclusion is that this LX 2009 is real and it's coming. So is T-Mobile going to launch it soon? Will anyone else pick it up? Is it going to be called the Sidekick 2 or the Blade?

    Dolphin 9950 Smartphone

    |

All phones are prone to drops and this offering from Honeywell should be able to help address that. This pistol-like Dolphin 9950 smartphone is powered by Windows Mobile 6.0.

Just how tough is the Dolphin 9950? Well, Honeywell claims that it is definitely no Humpty Dumpty, capable of withstanding multiple five-foot drops onto concrete as well as over 2,000 three-foot tumbles.

This will be a bulky handset, which does help in housing a 2500mAh lithium-ion battery that boasts a whopping ten-hour battery life. It will probably outlast humans without special clothing by withstanding a wide temperature range between -10 to 50 degrees Celsius.

    Features:

  • Marvell PXA270 624MHz processor
    256MB RAM

  • 1GB flash memory

    Meizu's M8 Ready to Launch?

    |

The Meizu M8 might just be an Apple iPhone knock off, but it might also be so much more than that. The Chinese smartphone looks just about ready to be launched. It uses the new 0.9.0.1 firmware which comes with copy and paste, Outlook calendar sync and a full backup system. There's a published SDK available and a license for the Chinese airwaves. All that might lead to a March release in China. And Meizu seems really confident in its M8:

Let's bear witness together, to the great moment of MEIZU formally entering the big stage of mobile phone industry!

Will Apple react in any way when the M8 gets released?

Huawei Android Smartphone Coming to MWC

    |

February is getting closer and closer and we should already be anxious to see what the big names in the mobile industry are going to unveil at the Mobile World Congress. Take Huawei for example. The company is ready for the Android market and it will show its first Android smartphone at the MWC. We don't have any specs yet so someone should definitely leak some.

On a different note the company will bring the world's smallest modem to the Congress and the world first commercial HSPA+ Stick. A new digital photo display will also be announced at the MWC. I guess that Huawei is really going to make an impression. Let's hope their Android phone will sweep us off our feet.

T-Mobile G1 to Hit More European Markets

    |

The G1 has been launched only in the USA and UK so far. That means lots of potential Android customers around the world haven't been able to consider buying a G1 yet. And T-Mobile is going to start launching the device in other European markets. That's a good start right?

The Netherlands, Austria and the Czech Republic are getting the G1 on January 30 while Germany is getting it on February 2. Poland will also receive the smartphone but at an unannounced yet date.

We don't have all the price details yet but we do know that in Germany the G1 will cost 1 Euro with a two-year contract.

Ooma Telo Will Get You Free Calls in the USA

    |

It looks like Ooma has been waiting for CES 2009 to launch its latest VoIP phone, the Telo.

The Telo will get you free VoIP calls in the USA over the Internet. The new handset will get you that high-def DECT 6.0 voice you were looking for. There's also a phonebook available, mobile transfer, speaker phone and various musical ringtones. The kit can be extended to six handset and there might even be support for an answering machine. Your cell phone will also be integrated in the mix as the Telo "helps combine the home phone and cell phone so you can enjoy the benefits of both without any compromises."

We'll be waiting for the release date and pricing but so far Telo sounds a pretty good VoIP alternative.

Garmin Nuvifone Screenshots Get Released; Waiting for the Phone

    |

The Nuvifone from Garmin might just be that fresh phone we've been waiting for at the start of this year. While the phone itself isn't available just yet, Garmin has decided to launch some screenshots just to prove the phone is on the right track. So far Garmin has released shots showing the navigation app, Google Local, the Web browser, the Calendar and E-Mail.

How's the interface you ask? Well take a look for yourself. Not bad for now although it hasn't been actually tested. Will the Nuvifone arrive at CES 2009? We certainly hope so. It would be a wrong move for Garmin to miss such an event.

Some rumors pointed out that Garmin might use Google's Android OS for its phone but the company firmly denied all that. The OS used is a modified Linux version. The company has however entered the Open Handset Alliance and it's going to be working on a future Android phone, other that the Nuvifone.

    Givori Nefertiti Mobile Phone

    |

We've seen quite a few mobile phones covered in gold, like the Vertu Boucheron, the Gold Edition of Motorola A1600, and the 18-Karat Gold LG Iron Man Phone, but the ugliest one is certainly the Givori Nefertiti.

The cellphone is only available in Dubai and costs close to $4,500. What makes it special is the cover that includes crystals, and 24 carat gold. To make it even more special, only 50 units were created so there isn't a big chance of getting your hands on one. Other than the price and gold, the handset is similar to a Nokia mixed with Pirates of the Caribbean.

Neoi 906E, the World Thinnest QWERTY Phone

    |

Neoi 906E seems to be the hottest piece of technology in the QWERTY galaxy. As you have gotten used to seeing at least nice-looking gadgets over here, I don't really know how you'll find this particular item. As the motto on the picture says, this is ''The Worlds...'' whatever whatever whatever as far as it's something really cool.

So what we could add would be the first, thinnest, most wonderful, most calculator-like full QWERTY phone. Leaving jokes aside, this thingy here is actually a sort of, way smallish Java J2Me hand phone, with GSM/GPRS particles, multimedia features, a MP3 Player, a camera, and a microSD slot. Unfortunately for all those of you who have been impressed by this handset, there is no official release date, so you'll know when it arrives immediately after we do!

    RoverPC presents G7 smartphone

    |

On top of the RoverPC P6 and P7 that we already mentioned on the past, there is a new smartphone this time entitled G7.

The RoverPC G7 runs with a 624MHz processor, and has 128MB of RAM memory. The internal storage capacity is only 256MB but that can be expanded with the help of a microSD memory card. The quad-band phone uses Windows Mobile 6.1 as the operative system, and obviously it comes with WiFi.

Lastly, the G7 has a GPS receiver and some software to check locations, view info about traffic cameras, and supply a detour rote.

    Kogan Agora Android Phones Announced

    |

Disappointed by the T-Mobile Android, but still want to jump on the Google Android bandwagon? Fret not, as two new Googlephones have been announced, and they're dirt cheap compared to similarly specced phones.

Dubbed the Kogan Agora and Kogan Agora Pro, the phones will drop in at US$190 and $250, respectively, and offer 2.5 inch touchscreen (320x240), 3G speeds, backlit QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth 2.0 and microSD card slot. The Pro version adds GPS, 2-megapixel camera and Wifi.

So, what do you guys think? Will it be worth it?

Google Android Dev Phone 1 out now for $399

    |

Sure the Android-running T-Mobile G1 has been on the market for quite some time now, but what about all those would-be developers living in countries where the phone isn't offered?

Enter the Android Dev Phone 1. Recently announced by Google, the Dev Phone will serve as a testing platform to developers who can't get their hands on already announced hardware.

Aquiring the Android Dev Phone 1 is easy, all you need to do is pay the $25 dollar sign up fee to become a recognized Android developer (which you can do here) and then buy the device for $399. Not too bad a price for a completely unlocked phone, then again it's not really made for non-developers, but who can resist that custom back?

More information regarding the Android Dev Phone 1 here.

O2 Xda Zest available on the 17th of November

    |

We have already mentioned the O2 Xda handset line a few times, one when Ignito was spotted online, and the other when Denim was approved by FCC. But the good news is that the cellphone will finally become available for purchase next Monday, on November 17.

Built by Asus and promoted by O2 from the UK, the mobile phone will be offered on a Pay&Go prepaid plan and will cost £250 which is approximately $390. It makes use of Windows Mobile 6.1 as the OS, and comes with WiFi and HSDPA.

Rumored: AT&T Fuze to Arrive This Week?

    |

The AT&T Fuze looks similar to the HTC Touch Pro because it's exactly the same phone. We know the carrier is coming but we have absolutely no idea about when that's going to happen.

People are talking, and what they say is the Fuze is going to be released sometime this week. It's only Monday so we'll have plenty of time to confirm it. What do you think? Would you get a Fuze?

Mobiado Strikes Again with Professional 105EM Special Edition Phones

    |

If Luxury is your middle name then you surely own at least one Mobiado phone. The cell phone maker has more phones available. And there are four more phones available: Professional 105 EM White, Professional 105 EM Red, Professional 105 EM CLB Black and Professional 105 EM CLB Silver.

The Professional 105 EM Special edition are built from maple burl wood mixed with titanium, sapphire crystal and a pinch of 24K gold. The specs will not impress, but then again they don't have to! You're going to get Quad band GSM/EGSM and dual band WCDMA (850 / 2100) connectivity, a 2 inch display and a 2 megapixel camera which will get you video recording too. There's Bluetooth, music and micro USB support, and more than 1GB of internal memory.

The 105 EM CLB Black and Silver are similar to the 105 EM (check them out below). And yeah, I don't like the colors either. Go to Mobiado and demand availability dates and prices. But then again if Luxury is your middle name, you might have already bought all four of them and not even know it!
