Sanyo Katana Eclipse finally makes it to Sprint

|

Sharp as its name suggests in features, the Sanyo Katana has finally landed in front of Sprint's doors. Customers can now enjoy the Katana Eclipse's dazzling lighting effects and Sprint's high-speed broadband network for just $100. Users can assign 40 different illuminations for the numbers in their 500-entry phone book and this Sanyo clamshell will light up just the way they like when that person calls or messages them. The lighting aside, the Sanyo Katana is also capable of turn-by-turn GPS navigation, has dedicated music controls, and supports Sprint Radio for up to 150 channels. Along with other features like Bluetooth and microSHDC support for up to 8GB, it also sports an internal 2-inch 65k color TFT LCD display and an external 1-incher for quick access to the media player or a glimpse of who's calling. The 1.3-megapixel camera is in no way a digicam replacement but it should be enough for those situations when the urge to capture something is overwhelming.

Available now on Sprint for $99.99 with a two-year contract.

Motorola V70 Retro Leaked

|

We have another leaked phone here and this time is the Motorola V70 Retro? Like what you see? Didn't think so.

The V70 Retro, meant to make us remember the original V70 will come with a 5 megapixel camera and that's about all we know. The design doesn't seem to bring anything new to the table, but I'd expect some better features. While the original V70 was priced at around $400, the current Retro doesn't have a price yet.

Palm Treo Pro Pictures Leaked

|

Is this the new Treo that Palm is getting ready for 2009? They have been plans for the upcoming year, but if they want to sell those phones they ordered, they need some good handsets.

This is the Treo Pro, supposed to work on Windows Mobile. So there's no Palm OS for now. The flash presentation was taken down from Palm's site leaving us wanting for more. We need specs, prices and launch date. In the mean time enjoy the screens!

LG's phone CB630 Invision will be arriving in a couple of days from AT&T Mobile TV. People say it will be launched on August 13th for $99.99 on contract with a $50 rebate.

And apparently this phone with TV capabilities is likely to replace the Samsung Access which will be discontinued from AT&T's Mobile TV offers starting with August

Motorola Alexander in Pictures

|

Motorola Alexander might just be the handset we've all been waiting for. And by all I mean all 16 Motorola cell phone lovers out there. Besides the fact that it looks weird and all, the Alexander will hopefully get a Windows Mobile 6.1, a NVIDIA graphics card and a possible 8 megapixel camera. There's also A-GPS and 3G connectivity.

No price and no official release date. Probably a Q4 launch date, but we're yet to confirm it.

Motorola ROKR EM30 Linux Phone Unveiled

|

The LiMo foundation announced the new Motorola ROKR EM30 mobile phone, apparently the 22nd handset model based on the LiMo platform. LiMo, for those who came in late, is a Linux-based operating system for mobile devices. You may also remember the Moto ROKR as being one of their music phones, and the EM30 is no different: Motorola claims compelling music features.

The ROKR EM30 will launch first in Taiwan and other markets are expected to follow later. With an LCD display, D-pad navigation and integrated GPS functionality, users can take advantage of any available location based services. The phone uses ModeShift technology to illuminate the keyboard - red keys illuminate in music mode and blue while in phone mode.

With Radio Data System in place, users can know the artist and song playing on the built-in FM radio. The phone features a 3.5mm stereo headset jack.

BlackBerry Curve Sunset for T-Mobile

|

Just as promised, T-Mobile has launched the vividly colored BlackBerry Curve Sunset on its network today. The promo (pictured above) shows it to look a little more alluring than the spy shot we had brought you earlier, but we'll let you be the judge of that. The innards are still the same as any other Curve 8320 already available, so have no doubt that this will sport the same features like WiFi and HotSpot@Home among other RIM standard features. Available starting today at $149.99 with a two-year agreement from T-Mobile.

Spotted: O2's XDA Ignito

|

How do you like the new XDA Ignito from O2? Does it look familiar to you in any way? If you know a thing or two about cell phones you will recognize the HTC Touch Diamond which was spotted in O2's catalogues for August.

The XDA Ignito is not a new handset. Not at all! It's the same HTC Touch Diamond which got rebranded especially for O2. However that's quite a move bringing in the Touch Diamond after launching the iPhone in July. Besides O2, Orange, Vodafone and T-Mobile are also selling the Diamond. Only UK's 3 doesn't have it yet! But maybe they want to be special like that and not get the Diamond yet.

Hello Kitty Phone

|

We happen to come across a Hello Kitty gadget once in a while and it's always a pleasure to check it out. This time we have a Hello Kitty phone to inspect. It's a perfect gift for friends with great sense of humor and even children.

The Hello Kitty phone has Bluetooth, touchscreen and a 1 megapixel camera. Not that bad for a toy phone. The mp3 player will change music when the device is shaken. Now just picture yourself in a business meeting, all suit up, wearing a Hello Kitty phone. That would seal any deals!

Plica Concept Phone

|

Plica is an smart concept phone which deserves at least 15 minutes of your time. The smartphone has two touchscreen that fold like a wallet. When you open the wallet you get a really huge touchscreen, and a large phone so to speak. The concept is similar to one of Samsung's patents we have shown you a while back.

With such a device you either have a phone or mini netbook, depending on what you need at any given time. I'd like to see more specs before I would make up my mind, but I would love to play with such a toy. Let's see who's going to manufacture it first!

BlackBerry Curve Sunset gets pictured

|

If you have been holding out on buying the Curve because it lacks taste in color, here's something that could give you some hope. The BlackBerry Curve Sunset will be available in a combination of red and orange hues with a black lining around the display. Repulsive it may be to some, but certainly an improvement over the same dull-looking RIM devices that are available in the market. The BlackBerry Curve Sunset is scheduled for a release on August 4 from T-Mobile, so you might not have to wait too long if you have made the decision already!

3G iPhone Back in Stock?

|

With shortages reported everywhere in the US yesterday, some were estimating the new iPhone shipments to arrive sometime in the following weeks. Well it appears Apple's supply line from Asia is working better. Important Apple shops in New York and California had both iPhone versions in stock today. Well technically there are three iPhone versions, the 8GB Black, the 16GB Black and the 16GB White. Exactly the colors AT&T had suggested a long time ago.

Go to Apple's site and check availability for your location. Who knows, maybe your AT&T dealer has also received new handsets for this week.

Bluetooth SIG leaks HTC Rose

|

More a mystery than a leak, we really don't know much about this device other than what we presume is its codename "Rose." May be HTC knows how to run a tight ship unlike Sony Ericsson and its constant slip-ups. Whether this points to the fabled Android-powered device or another Windows Mobile 6.1 push-over is anybody's guess right now. The only thing certain looks to be its availability almost everywhere when and if it does get released. But now that Bluetooth SIG has given up a name, it won't be long before our sniffers get to the bottom of this flowery conundrum!

Verizon Launched the Motorola Adventure V750

|

Verizon has just announced the Motorola Adventure V750. Not the most complicated smartphone, the V750 is still a very awaited handset. It has support for EVDO Rev. A and the Push to Talk service.
Verizon seems to grow their mid-range phone line with support for EVDO Rev. A as they have launched the LG Dare earlier.

The V750 is a clamshell. Besides what we have mentioned so far, it offers a 2 inch QVGA internal display, GPS support with VZ Navigator, support for Field Force Manager and a 2.0 megapixels camera with video recorder. There's also a microSDHC expansion slot, Bluetooth with stereo support, external media player control buttons, speakerphone and a shock and vibration resistant case.

Verizon will sell this Motorola from their online store for $149.99. Too much? Well there's an instant $50 online discount. The Motorola Adventure V750 will be available in store starting next week from July 28th.

Benq E55 headed for Taiwan

|

When we last heard about Benq's E55, it was just a EDGE-toting cell phone with a dash of style and some low to mid-end goodies thrown in. Turns out this flip phone can do 3G too and is aiming for Taiwain, although there are no details about its release elsewhere. Other features include a 2-inch 176x220 pixel internal screen coupled with a smaller 96x64 pixel external display, FM radio, microSD expansion, and Bluetooth in a fashionable 94x48x19mm package that weighs in at just 95 grams. There are two cameras, a 2-megapixel and a front-facing VGA camera for video calls, making this a good contender in the mid-range category. Available in Taiwan for about $230 starting at the end of this month.

Rumored: Blackjack III Coming in October from AT&T

|

Word on the street is that the Samsung Blackjack III is coming soon to American soil. By soon we mean October, which is quite around the corner. The third Blackjack looks good so far and will certainly deliver what's expected from it.

AT&T is rumored to offer this smartphone. On other streets, the word is that SK Telecom will retail this Blackjack for around $600 or so in Korea starting this month. The Blackjack III comes equipped with a Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional OS. Among its features, the A-GPS, WiFi support and 3G HSDPA high speed connectivity are worth mentioning. I'd be curios what will customers choose this autumn. The Blackjack III or the Thunder from RIM.

BlackBerry Javelin Spotted

  • QWERTY keyboard

  • 480×360 LCD

  • Quad-band GSM/EDGE

HTC Touch Diamond from Sprint on September 2nd

|

HTC Touch Diamond was rumored to be launched by Sprint and Verizon in the USA. We didn't have any clear details as to when that was actually going to happen. We've seen Telus being the Canadian carrier to offer the HTC Touch Diamond and now we have a confirmed American carrier.

According to a recently leaked slide Sprint is going to launch a new HTC device on September 2nd. HTC Touch Diamond will be sold as the HTC MP6950 so we're less than 60 days of seeing it in Sprint stores. We don't have any official prices just yet but at least we have a date to look forward to.

Motorola Vegas VE20 Photos Leaked from the FCC

|

Motorola Vegas VE20 has just hit the FCC hence the picture above. FCC seems to be a good dependable picture source for new Motorola handsets. This cell phone is another clamshell similar to the RAZR and the KRZR.

There are rumors according to which this Vegas phone will be released on Sprint's CDMA network. This phone won't be that expensive too. It's rather a mid range handset with very few spectacular features. It's supposed to have a 2 megapixel camera, microSD slot, touch sensitive keys, and that's about all we can figure out so far.

We'll just have to wait for the official Motorola announcement for prices and detailed specs.

Motorola V9x Phone On it's Way Soon

|

Here's a better Motorola RAZR like phone. The Motorola RAZR 2 V9x is an improved, better version of what we had so far when it comes to Motorola clamshell phones. Or is it the same old trick we've seen before? That's for you to decide in the future. This version is supposed to be launched by AT&T very soon according to rumors.

This quad-band will have HSDPA support, Bluetooth and GPS. You have the usual 2 megapixels camera, the microSD card slot and the USB port. Being a clamshell phone, this RAZR has two LCD screens but the external one has gotten bigger. You can follow GPS directions easily on the new screen.

The AT&T Navigator service is also rumored to be available from AT&T once the V9x is released. We're going to wait for the official release for prices and plans.
