LG Aigen LG-GM730

|

June is a hot month in the mobile business. Following the iPhone and Pre announcements we have Samsung, Nokia, RIM and LG responding with similar handsets meant to try to keep up with the competition.

We've seen the Nokia E72 getting official and we've seen five new phones coming from Samsung. It's time to take a look at LG's Aigen LG-GM730. The phone is now available in Korea but there's no price for it. Getting passed that odd fact you could like some of its features. The LG-GM730 will offer you a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen display, WiFi, AGPS, 7.2Mbps HSDPA connectivity, 5-megapixel camera, FM radio, and Windows Mobile 6.1 with S-Class 3D UI. The phone is just 11.9mm thick and it will be available in black, pink and lime. Anyone interested in it?

LG unveils GM550 smartphone

|

LG has recently come forth and announced their latest smartphone, the GM550 (pictured above).

This phone has pretty much everything you would expect from a modern smartphone: Windows Mobile 6.1, full QWERTY keyboard, 3MP camera, 2.4-inch display, 7.2Mbps HSDPA and a 1300 mAh battery.

Unfortunately there is no word on pricing or availability but even if it hits overseas first its "global 3G" will give US users the ability to use it on virtually any carrier they choose.

LG Glance

|

[caption id="attachment_32491" align="alignleft" width="159" caption="LG Glance"]LG Glance[/caption]

With the LG Glance, it seems you either love or hate the gold toned woven metal design on the back, however it is generally agreed upon that the front is attractive and functional. The buttons are big and tactile, and for an entry-level phone, the QVGA (240 x 320) screen is pleasing. This phone is also amazingly thin at .38 inches. A noted difference between this and other candy bar style phones, is the placement of the clear button- it's in the center, directly under the joystick.

Since this is an entry-level phone, there aren't as many fancy Verizon gizmos to play with as found on higher-end LG phones, however it does feature Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, WAP 2.0 browser, microSD slot and a decent 1.3 megapixel camera with digital zoom. The current price of this handset is $49.99 after rebates and a 2-year contract.

LG KX500 Is Actually a Cookie in CDMA Clothes

|

LG's Cookie phone has been sold in large numbers so far so it's not surprising that LG wants to sell even more. In order to do that, LG has created a CDMA version of the Cookie, the KX500 which is made for the Asian market. The phone will have support for CDMA2000 1x connectivity besides the usual features that are already available for the Cookie. The phone will sell for $276 in the Asia-Pacific region but it might cost even less should you get it from a carrier with a new contract. The CDMA Cookie is compatible with Sprint and Verizon's networks so bringing the CDMA version LG Cookie to the USA seems quite possible and I bet some people are already anxious about it.

LG Lollipop released in Korea

|

With a name like Lollipop, it's pretty obvious which segment of the moblie phone users LG is targeting, but the LG Lollipop, which comes in three models of SV800, KH8000, and LH8000, is no kid when it comes to specs. The clamshell is fully capable of handling HSDPA and can make video calls with a 1.3 megapixel camera on the inside just for those occasions. There is also a 3-megapixel camera on the outside to capture those funny moments and microSD support to house that ever-growing folder of pictures and videos. Measuring a thin 106.5 x 51.5 x 13.4 mm, the Lollipop also has an expansive 2.8 inch TFT display and a media player to while away those times of boredom in class.

The LG Lollipop will start selling this month in South Korea and will be available from all major Korean carriers in enticing colors of Cutie Pink, Boyish Titanium, and Aqua Blue at an undisclosed price.

LG Arena Gets Approved by the FCC

|

The LG Arena, that flagship phone we've seen launched a while ago, has cleared through the FCC. More than one million units have been pre-ordered already in Europe and Asia while the North American market has been left wanting. The KM900 didn't have any support for that North American HSPA but luckily all that has been changed. According to the FCC, the KM900QA will be ready to suit the needs of U.S. customers, having support for 850 and 1900 MHz HSPA bands. So are you going to order an Arena soon? Anxious of playing with that new S-Class 3D interface?

LG KM900 Arena launched in Europe

|

With preorders already crossing the 1 million mark, LG's Arena could already be termed as a success in the footsteps of other LG superstars like the Chocolate and the Shine. The KM900 was first spotted at MWC 2009 and the Korean manufacturer seems to have lost no time in releasing it barely a month after its first appearance. It's the Europeans this time around who have the first chance to experience its expansive 3.0 WVGA touchscreen display that can handle DivX videos with aplomb, the cool 3D S-Class user interface, 8GB of internal memory with further expansion up to 40GB via microSD, its auto/manual focus 5-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, and watch their favorite online videos at 3G speeds or on a WiFi connection.

The LG Arena is available now across major European markets at an undisclosed price in choices of silver and black titanium colors.

LG Rumor 2 to Come from Sprint?

|

The slider in the picture is LG's Rumor 2 which looks like it's ready to arrive from Sprint. The leaked image above looks clearer than regular leaked images and it shows a clear Sprint logo on it which may have been very well pasted over the initial picture. We're still lacking the official specs but they should arrive shortly as Sprint intends to launch it this spring.

LG GD900

|

[caption id="attachment_25823" align="alignleft" width="270" caption="LG GD900"]LG GD900[/caption]

The GD900, which LG debuted at the GSMA World Congress, is billed as the world's first phone with a transparent design handset. Not everything on the slider handset is transparent (the mechanical components are the old-fashioned opaque variety) but the rear slider is translucent and the keypad gives off a glittering show. LG promises a Bluetooth headset is in the works which will match the clear design of the phone itself.

Technical details about the GD900 were sparse at the show, but LG promises it will bring out the specs for review later this year. In the meantime, the GD900 has a futuristic look that is bound to win some devotees early on. As more and more cell phone manufacturers compete to include new applications and electronic features, style and simplicity in the user interface tend to get overlooked. Often it is the simple but beautiful item that wins out in the end. Expect the LG GD900 clear handset phone to show up in stores sometime in the third quarter of 2009.

LG-GM730 Phone Seals LG-Microsoft Deal

|

We've already told you how Microsoft and LG partnered up to offer more than 50 LG Windows phones by 2012. And LG decided to launch a smartphone to mark the special occasion. The LG-GM730 will be available in the first half of the year and it will run Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Edition for starters. The phone will also be able to run on Windows Mobile 6.5 in the second part of the year. The GM730 will get a new S-Class 3D user interface which we've already seen in the Arena and it will have Internet Explorer Mobile 6.0 installed. We still lack all the details of this LG smartphone but we're expecting to get them soon enough.
