World’s Smallest PC

You thought the Mac mini was small? Well it looks like Fit-PC is going to give Apple a run for it’s money, having recently unveiled what they are saying is the world’s smallest PC, and judging from the picture above, I’d believe them.

Of course this thing isn’t going to be able to run Crysis, with its AMD Geode LX800 500MHz processor, 512MB of RAM and 60GB harddrive, but perhaps a more practical use like installation in a car, perhaps?

The Fit-PC features a model with built in wireless connectivity and Windows XP Home, but your going to pay a bit more than the $220-base price for that. Also featuring 2 USB ports, a VGA output and audio in/out port, which isn’t much, but enough for some.

There’s another netbook from Toshiba ready to enter the already over saturated market. It’s the Toshiba Satellite NB105 from Toshiba Mexico. But don’t worry, it’s basically the same computer we’ve gotten used to under a different name.

The Toshiba NB105 features:

  • 8.9 inch LCD display at 1,024 x 600 resolution
  • Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 120GB hard drive
  • Wi-Fi and LAN connectivity
  • Three USB 2.0 ports
  • SD memory card slot
  • Windows XP Home only.

Surprisingly there’s no Linux version available yet. And we don’t know anything about prices yet but they should be in the usual range.

Commodore Netbook Anyone?

The simple word Commodore brings back good memories for lots of grown ups. Well in case you want a modern Commodore gadget in your home, look for the Commodore UMMD 8010/F netbook.

And now get ready for the Eee deja-vu part. The Commodore netbook spotted at the IFA in Berlin will have a 10 inch display, a 1.6GHz Via C7-M processor, an 80GB HDD, 1GB or RAM, a 1.3 megapixel camera 802.11b/g WiFi and Bluetooth. Well not exactly a deja-vu here, but the numbers in those features are similar to so many netbooks currently available. The pricing is rather high as this one will cost $610. I’m guessing we’re paying for the name more than for the actual specs there.

In case you’ll be needing desperately a Commodore netbook, go look for Dutch company Yeahronimo Media Ventures as they are the ones that own the name and the device.

Wibrain’s i1 MID in Action

Looking for a new MID? How about the i1 from Wibrain. The device looks interestingly enough, although it seems like I’d have a hard time typing from souch a device. The i1 will pack either a 1.1GHz or a 1.3GHz Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, a 30GB or 60GB HDD or a 8GB, 16GB or 32GB SSD. This MID will have various Internet connectivity options like tri-band UMTS/HSDPA and quad-band GPRS/EDGE.

Like always the device, spotted at IFA, doesn’t have a price or a release date yet so go to Wibrain and ask around. Maybe they’ll let you know more.

Apple Has a New Table Patent

It’s not the first multi-touch patents we see from Apple and it’s not the first time we hear about a possible, probable, future MacBook tablet which is supposed to look like a big brother of the regular iPhone. HP Launched New EliteBook 2530p

If you’d prefer a new laptop instead of a new tablet from HP then you’d have to opt in for HP’s new EliteBook 2530p which was just launched.

Like the tablet we have seen before this EliteBook is a rugged laptop which will do its job under any conditions. It weighs just about 3 pounds and it measures 12 inches. An Intel Core 2 Duo ULV processor is included and together with up to 8GB of RAM will power up the 2530p.

As for storage you have various options. Chose either an 1.8 inch SATA which comes in 80 and 120GB versions or an 80GB SSD. Dual 1.8 inch SATA or 2.5 inch HDD are also available to be included. Just make up your mind already.

Wireless support is also pretty heavy. Just like the new EliteBook tablet we’ve seen today, this laptop will get Bluetooth, WiFi and an optional HP un2400 EV-DO/HSPA. What do you need more.

Dell hasn’t officially announced the Dell Mini E and while we’re pretty much guessing about it, Fujitsu Siemens seems ready to roll out their Amilo Mini.

There’s a scheduled event to take place on August 28th at the IFA show in Berlin and all the signs and rumors point to an official Amilo Mini release. According to rumors this netbook will be priced from $600 to $800. The only innovation this Mini brings is the changeable face plates which isn’t something I’d be looking for in a portable computer.
