How many times did you want to listen to music from your iPod nano or touch without actually having to use your headphones? That’s possible if you have a dock close by but what about when you’re on the go? A nice pair of ultraportable speakers would definitely come in handy. Luckily for us there’s a Korean company out that came up with a solution for this problem.
Green Power has launched two different sliding speaker models for both the iPod nano and the iPod touch. The 1.5W twin speakers offer stereo sound which is quite a nice alternative to headphones. The sliding speaker acts like a dock and it comes with an mini USB port which can be using for both charging and uploading new content your iPod. We have no details about pricing and arrival dates at this point so you’ll be left listening to music with your regular headphones while fantasizing about the dock.

If you’ve been looking around to purchase a cool portable media player that has a lot of features, check out the PXP-2000 that is a look-a-like of the PSP. Anyway, this copycat version supports microSD cards so you don’t have to worry about storage capacity.
In terms of compatible file formats, the list is big thanks to the support of codecs. With that being said, the PXP-2000 can playback the following files: RM, RMVB, AVI, WMV, ASF, MPG, MPEG, MPE, MP4, DAT, MOV, and DAT. Additionally, this player can also turn into a gamer because it comes with a NES emulator, and also supports Gameboy and SFC. So, if this isn’t the full-of-features-PMP that you’ve been looking for, I don’t know what it is…

We are used to see COWON release a high number of portable media players during a year, and you can mark the iAudio 9 as their latest addition which is suppose to be the successor of the previous iAudio devices.
In terms of features, the COWON iAudio 9 boasts a 2.-inch screen and sadly it can only a read a few video file formats, unlike other PMPs that provide a huge list of supported formats. In this case, there are four options: AVI, WMV, Xvid, and ASF. As for the audio files, it can playback MP3, WMA, OGG, WAV, FLAC and APE. The iAudio 9 might not be a good PMP in the features department, but in the style department it rocks many others out there.

And now for something completely different here is the D1500-PMP from China that has unusual features and also an awkward style. The D1500 is available at the Popular Chinagrabber online store and costs $75 - which is a good price taking in consideration what you get.
As for the details of the D1500-PMP, the device comes with 8GB of intenal memory, a 3.6-inch screen with 400×240 as the resolution, supports WMA, MP3 and WAV audio files, and RM, RMVB, and AVI video files. On top of the FM tuner, the PMP also works as an eBook reader and has an audio recorder. But the best part stays for last, and I’m talking about the support for NES, SNES and GBA games.

All the way from China comes a new PMP - Portable Media Player - which is made by Gemei and codenamed HD8800.
This is the perfect device for people that want a PMP at a considerable low price, with the whole set of basic features that is what most users usually want. Anyhow, the Gemei HD8800 has an approximate price tag of $100 and can playback four different file formats, those being RVMB, AVI, FLV and MKV. It can playback these files in 1080p format, and the extra bonus is the HDMI port so you can connect it to high definition TV. At the moment there is no information about its release date.

The Zune HD is a hit product so far. Most resellers have run out of it so maybe you should check eBay’s auctions to see if people are selling any Zune HD. And if you do, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find out that there’s a special Zune waiting for you. The auction for this 32GB “Atomic” Zune HD starts at $265 but the price will probably go way up. In case you’re not willing to pay extra for a Zune HD then you should probably wait for the guys at Redmond to release this version too. Which I’m sure they will do at some point in the near future.

90% of the portable media players in the market only have one main function, which is to playback audio and video files, but the new iKaRa i600 stands out from the rest because it comes with a Karaoke function.
The Asian PMP sports a 2.4-inch display screen that provides a resolution of 320×240 pixels, it comes in 4 colors including white, black, orange and bordeaux, and there’s only one version of 2GB that costs close to $30. T56 is the codename of the new portable media player announced by Teclast, which is suppose to be released in the near future (a couple of weeks). The Chinese MP4 player doesn’t have a price tag yet, but it will most probably be lower than its competitors because that’s just how the Chinese manufacturers work.
The Teclast T56 sports a 5-inch screen and supports videos at 1080p which is pretty good, but you’ll need to use the HDMI output to take advantage of all the quality provided. Unlike other PMPs, this one has GPS which is another positive point. Other details include voice recording via small microphone, and FM radio.

It looks like MSI is not all about netbooks and laptops! The company has a 3-inch PMP ready to introduce to everyone. The MT-V656 is the device in question and it will offer you a 3-inch display (most likely finger friendly but unconfirmed so far), a silver casing, video output, FM tuner, voice recording capabilities, various media files support, 4GB of storage space upgradeable via memory card and support for gaming. The device will be available for just $42 which is a very affordable price but we have no idea when MSI will actually make it available. Would you get a MT-V656 PMP instead of the Zune HD or the iPod touch 3G?

Samsung has announced a Memories Special version of their popular YP-P3 portable media player that bundles 500 tracks from the 70s-80s era, courtesy of Mnet. The player itself gets few changes other than a modified UI to house the larger icons, karaoke support, and the ability to organize songs based on the user’s mood and will cost 279,000 Won ($232) when it is released in November. And no, we don’t know if it comes loaded with Y.M.C.A.

C-IP313 is the codename of the new dock made by Kenwood, which unlike other docks has a good style and good specifications.
In terms of supported audio file formats, it can play MP3 and WMA via a USB pen, or via a SD/SDHC memory card. Besides those two options, it can also has a CD player for everyone that still has CDs… The dock also works with the iPod but it seems it doesn’t like the iPhone. As for the sound, 2 speakers with 10W each is not bad for such a small sized dock. The Kenwood C-IP313 will hit the shelves at the end of October.

It seems that Sony Ericsson is gearing up to have a bit of a keynote of theirselves as the above flyer has recently been posted letting us know that the way we listen to music will change forever on September 21st.
Now, this is a bit of a zealous claim considering Sony Ericsson is continously pumping run-of-the-mill MP3 playing headsets so the same should be expected here. However, we can’t write the handset manufacturer off until the keynote actually rolls around. According to SE, the announcement will have to do with Bluetooth audio quality and ‘free energy’.
Check back around September 21st as we’ll keep you updated.
