RIM and Motorola have reportedly been sued by Klausner Technologies for infringing patents related to visual voice mail on mobile phones. It seems that the cat was let out of the bag the moment the Blackberry Bold 9700 hit the market. And apparently, it looks like a number of Blackberry and Motorola handsets are affected by this patent infringement issue which is now being pursued by Klausner. No statements were gathered yet on this issue from RIM or Motorola.

Previously, the game changing Google Maps Navigation turn-by-turn GPS application was only available for Android 2.0 powered devices such as the Motorola DROID leaving users running Android 1.6 (myTouch 3G, G1, etc.)
Luckily, Google has just announced that the application is now available for download via the Android Market for Android 1.6 devices. So now, virtually all Android users can get free turn-by-turn GPS goodness.
TomTom and Garmin must be shaking in their booties.

Motorola has announced a new cellphone that marks the difference from the rest due to the user interface + design. The new device is named Motorola Crush and will be released later this year, with an unknown price at least for now.
The Motorola Crush is a touchscreen handset that boasts a 2.8-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 240×400. It comes with a 2-megapixel camera, supports 16GB microSD memory cards, bluetooth with A2DP, and lastly a 3.5mm socket for earphones.
Like said previously, what makes the Crush different from the rest is the design - the buttons are located on top of the screen, instead of being below like it usually happens. Another unusual detail is the “Tap To Silence” function which makes it easy to put the phone in silence mode just by a single tap.

Remember the Motorola i410 that was seen at the FCC back in October? Well, there are good news for everyone that enjoyed the style and simple features of the device, because Boost Mobile has announced today that the Motorola i410 is available for purchase at their retail locations.
In case you are wondering, the i410 can be considered an entry-level clamshell type of cellphone and in terms of features it has GPE, bluetooth, and MMS, that is, in addition to the normal speakerphone function. The cellphone has dual-displays and besides the PTX features, it also boasts an Openwave WAP browser. Sadly there is no information about the price of the Motorla i410.

If you’ve watched TV recently you may have noticed Verizon directly targeting the iPhone in their latest round of DROID campaigning. Well, for a while it went unanswered but today Apple has shown off 2 new commercials that seem to set their sights directly on Verizon.
Of course the commercial only lets us know that the iPhone can use data while during on a phone call but at the end they say, “Can your phone and your network do that?”. Let’s see how Verizon responds.
Both commercials included after the break.

Sure, you can head over to your local Verizon store and pick up a brand new Motorola DROID, but what fun is that? eBay, on the other hand, is the only place you’ll be able to pick up one of 5 supposed DROID prototypes, pictured above.
Of course, there’s no telling if this device is actually a prototype but the seller says that its chrome bezel, silver buttons and “enhanced LED lighting” sets it apart from the production device.
Of course, you’re going to have to shell out at least $485, considering that is what the bid starts at, for this prototype DROID. But hey, at least it has free shipping, right?
Check it out here.

The Palm Pixi has been launched officially this Sunday and Sprint customers can get it for $99.99 after rebates and with a 2-year new contract. But other retailers, like Amazon, are ready to offer the smartphone for a lot less. Amazon is going to sell the Pixi for just $25 but you will still have to get a new contract from Sprint.
So should you buy the Pixi now? Why not wait a while as I am sure the phone will be available for free on contract real soon. After all there are hotter phones out there worth purchasing with new contracts like the HTC Hero, the Motorola Droid, the BlackBerry Storm2, the HTC Droid Eris or the Samsung Behold II. What phone are you going to purchase these holidays?

No other than Santa himself will be leading the cast of Boost Mobile’s “Unwronged Commercials” this Holiday season showing how overpriced mobile phone plans can force people like Saint Nick himself to make cutbacks as well. A gist of the new ad shows Santa having to make cutbacks due to an overpriced mobile phone plan thus hiring a seven-foot-tall elf and donkey stand-ins to lug his sleigh. The ad started to air last November 17 and will feature the Motorola Debut i856 which we had posted here some days back. Apparently the add aims to drive in more subscribers thanks to their customer and cost-friendly plans which include a nationwide $50 Monthly Unlimited plan which was highlighted in the commercial. This same plan is likewise included for people who plan to purchase the Motorola Debut i856.
You can watch the video here.

Motorola has a hot phone for Chinese customers too. The MT710 is a handset meant to deal with China Mobile’s Android-based Open Mobile Systen. This OPhone will offer a 3.7-inch 854 x 480 touchscreen display and TD-SDCDMA support and that’s about all we know about this Motorola OPhone. It looks like the MT710 is the Chinese version of the Droid and people say it’s going to lack keyboard support. They also say that Motorola will launch seven Android phones next year which means that the Droid-like MT710 is just the first one of them.

Motorola has announced a new special cellphone named Quantigo. It is special because it is ruggedized, and also due to the material used on the outside which is rubber-coated with texture so it becomes easier to grip.
The clamshell type of phone has another special feature, which is being able to withstand a couple of different scenarios, be it 30-minute under water, or extreme pressures, or high/low temperatures, and even dust or blowing rain. The Motorola Quantico will become available later this year at Cricket Wireless, MetroPCs and other carriers. In terms of normal specs for a cellphone it includes GPS, bluetooth, and a 2.5mm headset jack.

What do you know, Canadians, the Droid is ready to come your way soon. The phone will be known as the Milestone which seems to be the name Motorola has decided to stick with when it comes to the rest of the world. The Milestone has already been spotted in Germany and Brazil so it’s safe to say that only Verizon will sell it as the Droid in the USA.
Telus is said to bring the Milestone to Canadian customers early next year but there are no dates available at this point. There are no price tags either yet so we will all have to wait for the official press release before we get excited.

The Droid and the Droid Eris have been available for almost five days now and from the looks of it the phones are already bringing in some serious cash. The most popular of the both is definitely the Motorola Droid and you must surely agree that the Droid is an exceptional Android machine.
But neither of them is perfect. In fact there are quite a few issues that need to be fixed so both the Droid and the Droid Eris will receive an update in the near future. And it’s not customers complaining about the phones but it’s Verizon. The carrier has already found various things that need attention and it has leaked no less than twelve pages filled with complaints (five for the Droid and seven for the Droid Eris.) Everything will be sorted out by two firmware updates that are supposed to arrive in December and January. We don’t have any exact dates for you so in the mean time feel free to tell us what’s wrong with the Droid from your point of view.

Motorola’s i465 is supposedly a messaging phone, and I suppose it is designed for the IM generation. At first I thought the keyboard was too small for this, but I actually got used to it very quickly.
I was also surprised that the camera is taking quality stills, but I’m having a hard time finding the supposed Media Center where I can do video capture. All in all, I suppose you could call it a poor-man’s BlackBerry once you have Web access.
The i465 is available from Boost for about $99.99.

Verizon has taken the first jab at the iPhone calling it a misfit. Well technically that is as it unveiled its new commercial to jack up the Holiday season promotions for its Motorola Droid phones. Making use of the “Misfits Toys” from the classic Christmas animation Rudolf the Red-nosed Reindeer, Verizon has added the iPhone to the list of misfits to leverage some publicity. Will Apple throw a second jab? Wait and see! Here is the commercial:

The Motorola DROID is undoubtedly one of Verizon’s hottest (if not the hottest) handsets as of late. However, it’s $200 price tag may put it just out of reach for some consumers.
Luckily, Sears has stepped in to give us the phone for $149.99 on a 2-year contract as opposed to Verizon’s price.
So, if you want the DROID, you may as well head over to your local Sears instead of your local Verizon store, right?

If you checked out Google today (statistics say you probably have) then you may have noticed that the company is doing something out of the norm.
Just what you say? Well check out the above image and you’ll notice that they are advertising the recently launched Motorola DROID right on the front page.
I’m sure Verizon will be reaping the benefits of this.

The Motorola CLIQ has technically been available since the 19th of this month but if you went into a T-Mobile retail store, you wouldn’t be able to get it.

Just a few days ago we’ve shown you the GSM version of the Motorola Droid without actually knowing what market was going to get it first. Today we have some great news for your folks. If you live in Germany then you’ll be happy to know that the Droid is coming to you. The Droid will be coming from O2 Germany and it will be called the Motorola Milestone. The phone will be available for around $595 before taxes and subsidies. We have no release dates but we should expect the Milestone to hit O2 stores sometime before Christmas. O2 is the first carrier to offer the GSM version of the Droid so we’re definitely interested to see who’s going to follow.
