Marvel Comics Coming to the iPhone

Comics have become the next focus of attention as far as apps for the iPhone or iPod Touch these days and it looks like a marquee comic label will be joining the ranks of Comixology, iVerse and Panelfly. Last August, the lack of known comic brands was brought up here on Mobile Whack and it looks like the developers of the app heard us.

Several new and classic comic book issues will be added to their roster which should get the fancy of people who have started using their iPhones for their comic book collection and reading needs. Prices vary among the three developers though but if you want the cheapest one, then Panelfly should be it with a $0.99 price tag although you may want to consider the comic issues before deciding to purchase the app and from whom.

  • Time lapse photography is always awesome to see, but is really awful to make. A new iPhone app known as Timelapser makes is easier, and uses the photo-taking feature of the iPhone.

The Timelapser app does not require an iPhone model that can play video, just the camera. All the user needs to do is take a picture every three seconds to half-hour, and the app takes the stills and turns them into silent movie frames. These video files can be saved on the iPhone and even emailed to friends.

    Telmap’s NAVTEQ iPhone app

Telmap is selling a new navigation system for the iPhone that uses NAVTEQ maps as well as MapQuest and Orange. It also has the other bells and whistles such as turn-by-turn guidance, in-car and pedestrian modes, as well as live traffic.

Of course, this Telmap comes at an awkward time since Google Android 2.0’s new free Navigation system. I mean, why would anyone pay for something that they can get for free?

The new iTunes terms & conditions have a new paragraph which reveals more details about Apple TV 3.0. You’ll be happy to know that Apple TV 3.0 will offer support for iTunes LP and Extras viewing as soon as it becomes available. These features will be available only on those computers running iTunes 9 or higher and Apple TV 3.0 or higher.

Apple announced the iTunes LP format back in September and in case you forgot, iTunes LP will let you access a lot of bonus material about your favorite artists. iTunes Extras does the same thing with movies so you’ll probably enjoy both features once they become available. We have no idea when Apple TV 3.0 will become available but we’re expecting it to arrive soon.

Epocware has released a new application for the Symbian S60 platform, version 3.0 and 5.0. It is named “Handy Phoneguard” and as the name suggests it is suppose to guard your cellphone. In other words, it won’t authorize other people to access your data in case you lose the phone.

The Handy Phoneguard has a special feature that seems pretty good, which is protecting your data - contacts, messages, images, videos, etc- via password and encryption - so whoever gets (or steals) your phone won’t have that joy…

Other features of the Phoneguard include: delete data in case the cellphone gets stolen; and setting up a password when turning on the phone.
