Hot on the heels of the speculation that the Motorola CLIQ would be getting Android 2.1 next month, HTC has announced that one of their flagship devices, the HTC Hero, will too be getting the 2.1 treatment next month.
If you’re a loyal reader, you probably already know that HTC has been cookin’ this update up for some time now but has yet to release an official date. Now, we still don’t have an exact date but we do know that Android 2.1 will be coming to the HTC Hero in “mid-March”. This update, of course, will sport HTC’s critically acclaimed Sense UI.
When an exact date is known, you’ll be the first to know.

Are you an iPhone developer? How about an iPhone developer looking to bring their creations to the iPad? If so, you’ll be happy to hear that Apple has just released iPhone SDK 3.2 beta 2 to those currently in their developers program.
Below is a list of changes included in beta 2:
▪ FIXED: Changing an iPhone Executable’s working directory from “Build Products directory” may cause the application not to install properly with the error message “The Info.plist for application at (null) specifies a CFBundleExecutable of (null), which does not exist.”
▪ FIXED: In iPhone SDK 3.2 beta 1, Xcode’s Transition feature did not work correctly if the SDK was installed in a location other than /Developer. In beta 2, the feature will work properly with the SDK installed in any location on your system.
▪ FIXED: In iPhone SDK 3.2 beta 1, some users saw the message “A signed resource has been added, modified or deleted…” when rebuilding their projects. This has been fixed for beta 2.
Furthermore, Gizmodo has gotten word that the reason we haven’t seen some brand spankin’ new iPad apps being shown off in the iPad simulator is because Apple isn’t allowing them too. I guess they really want to surprise the public with what this device is capable of come March.

I don’t know what it is about the romanticism of the zombie genre. Maybe its because we just want to live in a world apart from civilization, where the only law is survival.
So if you need a zombie fix, you might want to get ZombieHunter by StormBASIC SL for the iPhone and iPod touch. It has 3D graphics, animations, online scoring, and two gameplay modes: history and survival.
Believe it or not, it is available for free for a limited time. I don’t know how limited it is, so you might want to click here to download it now.

I love augmented reality, and this is one application known as Sky Siege that is very cool. There are no QR codes on this app, just a chance for you to shoot enemy aerial vehicles.
Sky Siege uses the iPhone’s 3GS compass and accelerometers in order to figure out where the player is, and so he or she can turn around and shoot a plane or blimp.
If you’re an iPhone user and you want to try it out, feel free to head over to the iTunes store and lay down $3.

Once again, there is another free game for the iPhone and iPod Touch that I missed reporting on. First it was Valet Hero, now Lion’s Pride.
Lion’s Pride has nothing to do with that Siegfried and Roy Father of the Pride CG show that last only a handful of episodes on NBC. In Lion’s Pride, the player takes control of a pride of lions as they stalk their land and ambush prey.
It only costs $0.99 to download, so beat that! It’s almost free.

For those who have ever wanted to make it in Hollywood will now have their chance to start from the ground up with Valet Hero.
That’s right, feel free to park cars for the stars at “3 difficulty levels, 5 unique lots, and Open Feint integrations for achievements/leaderboards”. Just point and drag the car to park in the right spot.
The game was free yesterday, but sorry, I didn’t hear about it until today. But it only costs $1.99, but that ain’t much, is it?

I liked using the Openmoko WikiReader, a non-wired mobile device with 3 million Wikipedia entries on tap.
Openmoko has recently announced a Spring 2010 firmware update that can improve the on-screen keyboard with some animated key presses, as well as a back button for returning to previously searched articles.
WikiReader owners can get the download update for free, and if you want, you can still get the yearly subscription service for $29 for two pre-loaded microSD cards.

A recent leak has revealed that RIM is planning to develop the BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) 3.0 to sync with Gmail.
If this is true, then will add support for Windows Media Audio attachments, as well as OpenOffice documents. My source also says: “BIS 3.0 will also include the decidedly less exciting updates of a reconfigured, more secure E-mail setup application and more accurate error messages that will direct users to their specific carrier”.
I’d like to see how this works.

The Symbian OS has swept mobiles, and there is a rumor going around that Symbian will be used on a tablet. Considering the popularity of the iPad and rumors of the Google tablet, is it any wonder why a Symbian tablet rumors are surfacing?
The rumor stems from a comment from Lee Williams, Chief Executive of the Symbian Foundation, said that a tablet device could be likely in the next year or two. I suppose that time will tell if this one ever gets made.

“Honey, did you change the water filters? Sweetie, did you check the smoke detector? Honey, did you…” You get the idea. If you have a home, then you know the necessity of maintenance.
Fortunately, this new Housekeeper app might be just what you need. All you need to do is enter the right activity (like the type that you see on the right), the date when it was last done, and you will receive a reminder via email or SMS message. Unfortunately, you can’t add on your own reminders.
Still, I think that $1.99 for this app could make my house more maintained is money will spent.

This isn’t the first time that we have reported the Dropbox mobile app before, and Android and BlackBerry fans should be pleased to know that Dropbox is now available for these respective mobile devices.
For those of you who are not familiar with Dropbox it is a mobile app that allows users to share files such as documents, photos, videos, and music over the Internet, or, in this case, a smartphone. The user uploads whatever media he or she wants, and then will have a link to give away for those who want to download it. There is no word on when it will be available as yet for its new formats, though.

One of the limitations of these new e-book readers is the reading of graphic novels. Since most have only monochromatic abilities, the full color is removed. Not to mention the small screens that e-readers have were not made for comic book-sized pages.
Panelfly has made a comic book iPhone app that will soon be applied to the iPad. This free app can be made to read comics as if you were holding the traditional ones in your hands. The app, is free, but you’ll have to pay for the individual comics.
Yes, this could change print media as we know it, but do you think that comic book collectors don’t want their traditional issues in the plastic bags? I don’t think so.
