If you checked out Google today (statistics say you probably have) then you may have noticed that the company is doing something out of the norm.
Just what you say? Well check out the above image and you’ll notice that they are advertising the recently launched Motorola DROID right on the front page.
I’m sure Verizon will be reaping the benefits of this.

Apple’s App Store has established yet another record. We’ve seen the store reach one billion downloads followed quickly by the two million mark. And now the App Store has reached another remarkable number. The store houses at this time 100,000 applications which is a record in the business and now the number has been officially recognized by Apple. Everyone else is trailing way back and it will be almost impossible for the App Store to be surpassed by any other similar adventure. We’re probably going to see even more records get established as there are more than 34 million iPhones out there, not to mention the iPod touches sold so far by Cupertino. We’ve showed you lots of App Store apps here and there are many more interesting apps to show you, so stay tuned. The third billion download is probably just around the corner.
What’s your favorite iPhone app?

Now here’s something cool that would find a nice home in any OS fan boy’s collection — What you see above are real life calculator concepts that mimic the virtual ones found in both Mac OS X and Windows. The Mintpass designer has done a great job with these showing off their virtual counterparts in the bottom corners of the images.
Would these ever hit retail? Most likely not because if they did the manufacturers would be looking at a hefty lawsuit. But hell, I’d buy one.

Before you read on please make note that this is only a rumor and has not been confirmed in any way shape or form — BGR brings us news that AT&T and Apple are pondering whether or not to launch an 8GB iPhone 3GS for $99 that would be presumably replace the current $99 iPhone 3G.
Like I said, there isn’t very much evidence to back this up but if this goes down it would reportedly be a move to combat the DROID handsets popping up on Verizon.

Earlier today we let you know that the BlackBerry 8530 would be hitting Verizon on November 20th and now we have news of the same device hitting Sprint.
There wasn’t an exact release date announced but a Sprint spokesperson said that it will be out relatively soon with EV-DO and WiFI built-it. Of course, since there was no release date announcement there was no price but we have a hunch that it will be right around the $99 that Verizon is charging with a 2-year contract and $100 mail-in rebate.

AT&T has just announced their intentions to launch a whole slew of new features on November 8th. The first is an all new voicemail-to-text service which will, of course, change your voicemails into text messages making it easier for you to catch that number or name.
Second of all AT&T is planning to launch their Nation with Canada plans which will allow you customers to make calls between Canada and the US with no long distance charges.
And last but not least they will be launching 3 new channels for their Mobile TV service which we have little to no details about. Luckily, they will be dropping the base cost of the service from $15 to $9.99 and the unlimited service from $30 to $24.99.

According to a Swedish manufacturer of carrying cases for cellphones and smartphones, also known as Krusell, the number 1 on the list of “sold mobile phones” is the iPhone - no surprise here. As for the second, we’ve got the Nokia XpressMusic, and on third place the HTC Touch HD.
Don’t forget to take in consideration that this list is based on the number of cases ordered from Krusell during the month of October 2009. It’s not an official worldwide list or anything of that sort.
1. (1) Apple iPhone 3G
2. (2) Nokia 5800 XpressMusic
3. (-) HTC Touch HD
4. (5) Nokia 3109/3110 Evolve
5. (9) Nokia 6700
6. (10) Samsung B2100
7. (3) Nokia N97
8. (4) Nokia 6303 Classic
9. (6) Nokia E51
10. (7) Nokia 6300/6300i/6301
() = Last month’s position.

Hot news for the two giants of the US that fight for a bigger share on the mobile telecommunications market, and I’m talking about AT&T and Verizon.
In this case it was AT&T that sued Verizon and the reason is pretty simple: a misleading advertising campaign, which is named “There’s a Map for that” and is actually a joke related to an AT&T campaign called “There’s an App for That”.
The misleading information is related to a map made by Verizon, in which shows that AT&T doesn’t have much network coverage. But the only detail they forgot to mention, is that they are only counting the 3G network and not EDGE network, and that’s why the AT&T map is full of blank spaces, which could lead to customers having bad ideas…

As expected, the adoption of touchscreen mobile phones in the US is growing pretty fast. According to comScore at the moment there are 24 million touchscreen phones, which makes it close to a 150% growth rate when comparing to 2008.
In case you are wondering, the number one of the top 10 list of touchscreen devices is obviously the iPhone, which has 32,9% of the “share”. In second and third place we’ve got LG models, more specifically the Dare and the Voyager. As for the fourth place, it’s the BlackBerry Storm with 7,0%, and the next in the list is the Palm Treo with 6,5%.
Donovan, from comScore, comments:
Tags: Cellphone, comscore, Mobile News, touchscreenThe iPhone clearly set the trend in the industry for touchscreen devices, so it’s no surprise that it has the largest share of the market,” added Donovan. “But as other players have entered the touchscreen market with compelling devices, competition is clearly heating up.

Now, it’s not everyday you see parts from an unannounced device go on sale but China Ontrade has what they are calling the iPhone 4 Generation Midboard.
Normally you could be quick to brush off such a seemingly obvious rumor but according to Gizmodo, China Ontrade had parts that on sale that were then used in the iPhone 3GS.
So, could this possibly be real? We’ll have to wait and find out.

The Nook is Barnes & Noble’s first eBook ready and it has already impressed us. But it looks like there’s something fishy about the whole thing. Spring Design alleges that the Nook design was stolen from the Alex. Spring Design has shown the Alex dual-screen eBook reader to Barnes & Noble before the Nook has been developed and it looks like the two companies have worked together for a while. We’re not jumping to any conclusions yet as it’s not our place to do that.
Spring Design has filed a trade secret lawsuit against Barnes & Noble and we’re curious to see what happens next. Eric Kmiec, Spring Design Vice President of Sales and Marketing has this to say about the whole issue:
Spring Design unfortunately had to take the appropriate action to protect its intellectual property rights. We showed the Alex e-book design to Barnes & Noble in good faith with the intention of working together to provide a superior dual screen e-book to the market.
What will you choose between the Alex and the Nook?
