For some reason eBook readers are more and more popular these days. After the Kindle we’ve seen Sony’s reader, Barnes & Noble’s Nook and Plastic Logic’s QUE. Asus is also working on a few eReaders and it seems that Creative decided to make one of its own. Dubbed the MediaBook, Creative’s eBook reader might be based on the Zii platform and it’s said to come with some very impressive features like a color touchscreen display ready to let you read all the eBooks you want and support for videos and pictures. Although this MediaBook did get leaked there are no leaked pictures yet. And it’s way too early for pricing details and release dates so we’ll all have to wait for Creative to announce the reader until we get too excited about it.

Just a few days ago we’ve shown you the GSM version of the Motorola Droid without actually knowing what market was going to get it first. Today we have some great news for your folks. If you live in Germany then you’ll be happy to know that the Droid is coming to you. The Droid will be coming from O2 Germany and it will be called the Motorola Milestone. The phone will be available for around $595 before taxes and subsidies. We have no release dates but we should expect the Milestone to hit O2 stores sometime before Christmas. O2 is the first carrier to offer the GSM version of the Droid so we’re definitely interested to see who’s going to follow.

Here’s something nobody expected from Windows 7. It looks like the new Microsoft OS and the iPhone don’t really like each other. There are various syncing issues already reported but Microsoft is not to blame this time. At fault seems to be Intel’s P55 Express chipset and its USB controller. People say that the iPhone gets recognized but syncing is not possible. We’ll be waiting for an official stance on the matter and the parties involved should better find a fix for it. The iPhone is the best sold phone so far and Windows 7 is already very popular. Naturally there are quite a lot of iPhone owners out there that will be using Windows 7 soon. And let’s not forget that Apple is getting ready to ship iMacs packing Intel Core i5 and i7 processors in November. Cupertino would hate to see similar syncing problems occur especially between iMacs and iPhones. So what do you say Intel? Is a fix coming soon?

Barnes & Noble has just announced its first eBook reader, the Nook and it looks like the company is planning to take its business to the next level. The company is currently looking to hire a “head of their international business.” In other words, if you happen to have a great, ecommerce-oriented and educated mind and have the guts to apply and the job could be yours. Candidates from New York are encouraged to send in their resumes but European-based executives will also be accepted.

There are no details regarding the future of Barnes & Noble’s international branch but we’ll be back with those once the company has a team in place ready for action.

We’re really tired to see this weird game between Apple and Palm. It was a little funny at first but we should expect to see this mind games occur every now and then. Here’s how it works: Apple launches a new iTunes version that happens to block the Pre out and then Palm comes up with a solution that will allow iTunes synching again.

Apple has a new iTunes version available and naturally, Palm Pre owners won’t be able to use it, at least for the time being. Version 9.0.2 was launched this week and it’s still too early for Palm to release an iTunes syncing solution. The simplest thing you can do is not to download the upload and keep using your old iTunes version with your Pre. What do you think?

    Sony Ericsson Rachael Video Leaks

Next Tuesday Sony Ericsson is going to launch its first Android device, the Xperia X3 aka Rachael. Although most people are busy pre-ordering the Droid from Verizon, they should really stop and see what this Rachael phone is all about. The teaser above has been officially leaked and the handset looks pretty interesting. Sure 20 seconds of video featuring a turned-off device isn’t enough for us, is it? But at least we know the Rachael looks better than expected. All we need now are some decent specs and a matching personality and we might just have a Droid competitor on our hands!

Due to security reasons, India has issued an order to ban all pre-paid mobile phones in Kashmir. Apparently, these pre-paid mobile phones were being used by militants for other means such as using them to trigger bombs and hide their identities. Launched in 2003, these pre-paid mobile phones are said to be the reason for some attacks since they are easier to get a hold of compared to post-paid mobile handsets which require a more scrutinized check before they are issued.

Other regions suffer the same ordeal since getting a pre-paid card and a mobile phone can be done easily. With this move however, countries such as the Philippines may do well to follow India’s lead to counter terrorists attacks which make use of technology for all the wrong reasons.

Personalization for mobile phones has become a common need but the problem is not all phones may have that privilege. And while we have heard personalized MailTones for the iPhone some days ago, the Blackberry smartphones now have a version of its own. This was made possible by Electric Pocket, providing an array of tones which should help Blackberry phone owners assign preferred tones for people located in their address book who send them emails.

MailTones is compatible for the BlackBerry Storm, Tour, Curve, Bold and Pearl, and is now available at MailTones.com and all MobiHand-powered stores for $2.99.

November 6 is the day when the Droid will be available in Verizon Stores. In case you want to avoid hassles and lines, you can always pre-order the Droid from Best Buy. But if you’re decided to walk into an actual Verizon Wireless store and get your Droid from there then you should know that Big Red plans to open stores at 6AM on November 6. The hour is not confirmed yet but we expect Verizon to take all the measures necessary in order to accommodate as many customers as possible next Friday. So what do you say, are you ready for an early start?

And don’t forget, the Droid Eris will also be available on Friday. You’ll actually have to get this phone from a Verizon store since it’s not available for pre-order.

The new iTunes terms & conditions have a new paragraph which reveals more details about Apple TV 3.0. You’ll be happy to know that Apple TV 3.0 will offer support for iTunes LP and Extras viewing as soon as it becomes available. These features will be available only on those computers running iTunes 9 or higher and Apple TV 3.0 or higher.

Apple announced the iTunes LP format back in September and in case you forgot, iTunes LP will let you access a lot of bonus material about your favorite artists. iTunes Extras does the same thing with movies so you’ll probably enjoy both features once they become available. We have no idea when Apple TV 3.0 will become available but we’re expecting it to arrive soon.

There’s a new player in the eBook readers business. Asus has confirmed that it will launch new eReaders in March 2010. The company confirmed that these devices will come with features like WiFi, 3G and WiMAX connectivity. Why would we need WiMAX in an eBook reader anyway? We don’t have all the specs but it looks like Asus plans to launch two eBooks, a 6- and a 9-inch model. Asus will test those readers in Taiwan before they become available in Europe and the U.S. Unfortunately it’s too early for pricing details so you’ll just have to wait a while for them. Of course you could pick a Nook or a Kindle in the mean time and get your reading on.

Stop dreaming about an HTC HD2 capable to run Android. HTC will not make it for you as the company wants to give Windows Mobile a fighting chance. According to Peter Chou, HTC could make an HD2 smartphone running Android but it won’t as it wants to “get excitement about Windows Mobile back.” I estimate excitement to return sometime next year when Microsoft will launch the all-new Windows Mobile 7.

In the mean time we will focus on Android phones, iPhones and new BlackBerry handsets out there. Wouldn’t you agree? And don’t worry, HTC will launch new Android phones soon, even if they won’t look like the HTC HD2.

In the strict area of Egypt they have released a code of ethics for mobile phone users, and it consists on 16 important points.

This guide is suppose to teach people on how to use their mobile phone properly, without interfering with the life of others. For example, taking photos of other people and posting them on the internet is punishable by law, so that’s a big no no. Another example is calling people at late hours when they are at sleep. A stricter example is the legal action that will be taken against cellphone users that send text messages with inappropriate content.

    Quotes from code of ethics:

    - “This Ethics Code aims to regulate the users’ behaviours on using mobile phones especially with the increasing and intense problems and irresponsible behaviour of some users of mobile technology,”

    - “Use your mobile phone to report something or receive important information.”
