While O2 is getting ready to offer the HTC Touch Diamond in the UK, rumors say that Sprint is going to be ready to offer it in August across the seas. According to The China Post, HTC is ready to sell the Diamond through Sprint Nextel in August.

We’ve already seen the Diamond in a CDMA version and we’ve seen it hit the FCC so I guess it’s about time American carriers bring it out to their subscribers. Let’s if Sprint will indeed launch it this month. And I’ll be curious to see if anyone else starts selling the Diamond in the USA.

  • Spotted: O2’s XDA Ignito

How do you like the new XDA Ignito from O2? Does it look familiar to you in any way? If you know a thing or two about cell phones you will recognize the HTC Touch Diamond which was spotted in O2’s catalogues for August.

The XDA Ignito is not a new handset. Not at all! It’s the same HTC Touch Diamond which got rebranded especially for O2. However that’s quite a move bringing in the Touch Diamond after launching the iPhone in July. Besides O2, Orange, Vodafone and T-Mobile are also selling the Diamond. Only UK’s 3 doesn’t have it yet! But maybe they want to be special like that and not get the Diamond yet.

  • Are you waiting for some colored BlackBerries to arrive from your favorite Canadian carrier? Well Bell Mobility is going to add new colors to their BlackBerry Pearl and Curve.

The BlackBerry Pearl is supposed to arrive in White and Titanium, while the BlackBerry Curve 8330 in red. In case you want to buy either one of those three new colored berries, you have to wait a few more days until August 8th when they will be available. I’d advise against that though. After all the Bold and Thunder are around the corner.

Here’s a bad news for anyone traveling to and from the USA. The Department of Homeland Security can take steal your laptop and take it to any location where they could share it with any agency what-so-ever in order to investigate your laptop’s contents. The same thing goes for any other smart devices which can transport any kind of data (read iPods and smartphones too).

  • Garmin Nuvifone Postponed to 2009

A phone from Garmin like the Nuvifone is surely a challenge. Unfortunately we’ll be unable to see a Nuvifone this year as it has been postponed to 2009 during Garmin’s latest quarterly conference call.

Apparently carriers have had quite a few demands which were added to the handset, and this whole process is actually taking longer than expected.

Verizon customers have been waiting for Visual Voicemail to arrive for quite a while now. Sure you would need a good smartphone to take advantage of the whole Visual Voicemail concept but now it’s all possible.

Verizon has launched their Visual Voicemail and they have support for a single handset so far, the LG Voyager. More smartphones will surely follow as Verizon is competing against Sprint on this one. Sprint had the service running from before on smartphones like the Samsung Instinct.

With the 3G iPhone release, Verizon might need its Visual Voicemail to keep their customers still hooked on Verizon’s plans. And if they do manage to bring the Thunder from RIM this fall as it’s been rumored, they might just find themselves in a much better position to compete against AT&T or Sprint.

    Samsung Instinct Firmware Update

The Instinct was a big Sprint hit before the iPhone hit the market. The Instinct came in with a nice price tag and lots of features. Almost ready to beat the 3G iPhone. But things weren’t going so smooth as multiple Sprint customers are reporting problems when it comes to Sprint data availability. Maybe that’s why it was decided for the Instinct to receive a firmware update. Or maybe not, since Samsung is going to release a more significant update later this year.

How did Comcast act illegally? Well you might already know the answer to that, as you might have suffered too. In case you were heavily downloading stuff with BitTorrent, Comcast slowed your transmission down for sure. All that for the sake of the whole network. But is it ok to do so? Well the FCC says Comcast acted illegally, so no, it’s not ok!

With the needed three out of five votes, the FCC commission has ruled against Comcast. The FCC isn’t supporting peer-to-peer downloads especially as most of those are illegal downloads too. But the FCC didn’t like Comcast’s lack of disclosure on their actions.

There’s no fine for Comcast just yet, but this move it’s certainly meant to stop any similar acts from any Comcast competitors.
