Well that’s surely no wonder! Microsoft is inflating Vista Sales and HP declares publicly in an APC Magazine. As you remember, Microsoft XP got canceled officially more than a month ago with some computer sellers. XP comes now only with netbooks and UMPC officially.

We’ve talked about the Thunder for a long time wondering when and where is it going to hit the market. According to this leaked inventory screen the BlackBerry Thunder will be released on Octorber 13th. Word on the street is that’s the actual release date at least for Verizon.

The Thunder is the 9530 in the list above. No news on pricing and plans of course. We’ll just have to wait for more leaked info.

LG’s phone CB630 Invision will be arriving in a couple of days from AT&T Mobile TV. People say it will be launched on August 13th for $99.99 on contract with a $50 rebate.

And apparently this phone with TV capabilities is likely to replace the Samsung Access which will be discontinued from AT&T’s Mobile TV offers starting with August
24th. Or that’s what people say. If you are interested in an AT&T Mobile TV phone better check out also the Sony Ericsson Z750 and the Samsung SLM besides the ones I have already mentioned. (more…)

Pwnage Tool 2.0.2 Released

Just a few days after Apple rolled out their iPhone Software update 2.0.1, the iPhone Dev Team has released their Pwnage Tool 2.0.2 today. The new Pwnage Tool will do the same thing as its predecessors. It will jailbreak iPhone’s software in a minute. Well actually not that fast but still just as good.

The only difference this time is that the iPhone Dev Team is advising against upgrading to firmware 2.0.1 if you want to unlock the iPhone with a future Pwnage Tool version.

Or what you could do is upgrade, jailbreak and unlock with a SIM unlocking card which we showed you earlier this week. If those SIM hacks work that is…

The BlackBerry Bold has arrived surprisingly in Chile before anywhere else. But now it appears that other carriers in the world are getting ready to launch it. That’s no big news since we’ve heard numerous launch dates rumored for the Bold. It’s time for UK’s T-Mobile to announce it for the UK.

T-Mobile will have RIM’s latest creation in shops and online store starting this September. There are no pricing and plans details yet but T-Mobile will offer the Bold to both T-Mobile Business 1-Plan customer and regular customers.

Vodafone will also get the Bold before the 1st of November while 3 will have the Bold later next year.

Sony Ericsson T700

Sony Ericsson has a new phone for us, the T700 which seems to be the perfect successor of the T610. Let’s take a look at some features of the T700:

  • 3.2 megapixel camera
  • High quality stereo speakers
  • Color matching headset
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 UMTS/HSDPA 2100
  • Memory Stick Micro card slot
  • 2 inch TFT color display at 240 x 320 resolution.

Nothing special here. No Walkman-like music and no Cybershot-like camera in this T700. And as usual, there’s no information on prices and availability yet.

Tag Heuer’s Meridiist Videos

We’ll I guess you heard the official explanation of the whole Meridiist design. Tag Heuer knows how to count the time and they apparently know how to make a cell phone. It’s not the smartphone you wished but rather the classier phone which will make an impression while letting you make phone calls, send messages and why not, count the time.

I Am Rich for iPhone 3G

Here’s an application you definitely need to (for)get. It’s I Am Rich for your iPhone 3G and it’s currently in stock in the App Store. What the program does is really simple, you get to add a red ruby-like icon on your screen to remind you and others people seeing it that you are so rich you can afford it. The application comes for just $999.99 which should be quite a bargain.

But down here in the real world we won’t buy anything like that ever. I don’t know what the person that created it was thinking about. I Am Rich should be the most expensive and most useless application out there. Apparently Apple would let anyone develop their application and sell it over in the App Store.

MobileMe is a great idea which went terrible wrong a least a couple of times. Despite Apple’s efforts to launch the iPhone 3G together with the App Store and MobileMe, the later proved to be a more complicated launched than initially predicted.

Apple started offering up to 60 complimentary free days of MobileMe subscriptions to everyone affected by the whole switch but that’s not enough. And it’s not enough for Steve Jobs who didn’t hesitate to share his thoughts on the matter in a mail addressed to the “Team”:

    Team,

The launch of MobileMe was not our finest hour. There are several things we could have done better:

    – MobileMe was simply not up to Apple’s standards – it clearly needed more time and testing.

    – Rather than launch MobileMe as a monolithic service, we could have launched over-the-air syncing with iPhone to begin with, followed by the web applications one by one – Mail first, followed 30 days later (if things went well with Mail) by Calendar, then 30 days later by Contacts.

    – It was a mistake to launch MobileMe at the same time as iPhone 3G, iPhone 2.0 software and the App Store. We all had more than enough to do, and MobileMe could have been delayed without consequence.

We are taking many steps to learn from this experience so that we can grow MobileMe into a service that our customers will love. One step that I can share with you today is that the MobileMe team will now report to Eddy Cue, who will lead all of our internet services – iTunes, the App Store and, starting today, MobileMe. Eddy’s new title will be Vice President, Internet Services and he will now report directly to me.

The MobileMe launch clearly demonstrates that we have more to learn about Internet services. And learn we will. The vision of MobileMe is both exciting and ambitious, and we will press on to make it a service we are all proud of by the end of this year.

    Steve

There’s really nothing to say as it’s pretty clear. Apple is firing incompetent employees taking serious action towards fixing what has gone so wrong.

I’d like to see a similar mail to Microsoft employees regarding Vista. It should basically explain why Vista sucks and address the actual main problem which is lack of good leadership and foresight.

  • It’s only politically correct to announce that HTC has shipped almost 1 million Touch Diamond cell phones since May. After all we did announce Apple’s 1 million mark. That means that sometime soon this month the Diamond will actually sell 1 million units.

While the iPhone 3G sold in 1 million units in three days, the HTC Touch Diamond sold the same amount in about three months from official launch.

HTC planned to sell 2 million Touch Diamonds in 2008 and it looks like they are going to reach their goal especially after opening another plant in Shanghai. Their newest plant will be manufacturing 2.5G+ handsets when it will begin production in October. With it HTC will reach a total of 1 million handsets produced per month which will certainly aid them to get their projected numbers before the year’s end.

  • Siemens Has Green Phones

Surprisingly Siemens can still manufacture phones and while they won’t be taking a huge share of the market they will launch a handset or two from time to time. And it’s time they went eco-friendly too. Their Gigaset Eco Visions Leaf and Solar phones will be made from recycled materials while the Sun’s energy will get them the juice they need to properly function. No details on availability and pricing but when they do hit the market, you’ll be among the first to know.

These five countries: Romania, Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland and Estonia, will get the iPhone in the second launch wave on August 22nd. There aren’t specific details about pricing and plans yet but we do have a few info on each of them.

In Romania Orange will release the iPhone 3G. People can register for it starting August 7th. It’s not a pre-order as there won’t by any payment involved but rather a phone reservation. The iPhone 3G will sell simultaneously in six cities around the country.

In Hungary, T-Mobile will bring the iPhone 3G exclusively but there are no further details at this point.

In Czech Republic O2 is the official carrier which will offer the iPhone 3G to its subscribers and business clients. Those interested in Apple’s handset can register with O2 and they will receive prices and more details later on.

In Estonia TeliaSonera and EMT are the carriers bringing the iPhone 3G while in Poland Orange and Era will offer the handset to their Polish subscribers.

We have 16 more days to count down until the second iPhone 3G wave hits.

  • While we’re anxiously waiting for Apple to unveil their new generation of laptops and iPods later in September, Apple has launched some of those patents for new products. And there are six Apple patents revealed today. They show an iPod/iPhone stand, an amplification system, a form of speech synthesis and a computing device which I’ll refer to as a MacBook tablet for now.

Besides that there’s a new earbud/lanyard design and a new backlighting scheme mentioned. Some of those patents apply to already existing products while others offer a preview to what’s coming.

Personally I am interested in the computing device for now, as it might just be the hottest thing the year brings.
