AT&T seems to have another great phone coming soon and I am talking about HTC’s Touch Pro. The Pro is a great smartphone which is supposed to arrive soon. Obviously there’s no official confirmation from AT&T’s officials but traces of AT&T’s presence are felt in the TouchFlo 3D user interface.
A forum poster with XDA-Developers is claiming he got an AT&T HTC Touch Pro for only $900. I’d like to see official pricing and plans from AT&T, so I am looking forward to get some leaked memos. Is any AT&T employee present?

What do you think? Is this the Palm Centro 2? You do hope this is the new Centro from Palm don’t you? Although there’s no factual fact to support such a phone yet.
All we have are some leaked photos. No specs, no prices, no nothing. Just a phone that looks, and here’s a shocker, like the iPhone 3G. Or the Thunder from RIM. Or the Instinct; or the Omnia. Not that it’s a bad thing. We are bound to give up on regular QWERTY keyboards in favor of larger screens and haptic virtual keyboard.
Waiting for more rumors to power up this rumor here!

T-Mobile has launched the Nokia 5610 XpressMusic today. We’ve been waiting for it for a while. Go ahead and get yours since it’s now available for just $99 with a two year agreement from T-Mobile.
Here’s a specs check of the Nokia 5610XpressMusic for you:

So we’ve seen the Alexander from Motorola last week and now we discover it has an almost twin brother. Well not a similar twin brother in any case as the Atila (that’s Alexander’s brother’s name) lacks the full QWERTY keyboard.
Besides that, the Atila will be the first Motorola handset with tri-band UMTS/HSDPA. Hooray for that. Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, 1.8Mbps HSUPA, 2.8 inch QVGA 240×320 screen WiFi b/g and Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional are already included.
So let’s see when Atila and Alexander get released and which one will be more expensive. Any bets?

We could check out the iPhone 3G after a month of existence without wondering what the App Store performed in the same period. After 3 days 10 million applications were downloaded. After 27 more days, 50 million more applications have been downloaded totaling 60 million apps worht $30 million. (more…)

Today it’s exactly a month from the official iPhone 3G launch. If in the first three days Apple sold 1 million iPhones, people are estimating that 2 more million handsets were sold since the first weekend. So we are looking at 3 million handsets sold in one month. And they are the same phone. How many cell phone makers can say they can do that?
Sit tight iPhone haters. Before pointing fingers at the whole blogosphere and the Internet making this possible, check first with Apple’s marketing department. I guess they’re the ones to blame.
Fortune and analyst Michael Cote, a former T-Mobile executive, are estimating three million iPhone 3G sales so far. Other analysts are expecting sales to stop around four millions by the end of the quarter.
But let’s see what happens after August 22nd when 20 more countries will sell the iPhone 3G. I know I know, it will be another success hit because of bloggers like me…

Let me tell you this much, whether I am or not an Apple fan, I still liked better the worldwide kind of handset launch we witnessed in July. Apple is going to do it again on August 22nd for 20 more countries and once more later this year for every country left without an iPhone.

While T-Mobile wants to copy Apples’ App Store it appears that Vodafone wants to copy Apple’s iTunes thing.
And not only did Vodafone launch one music store but they have launched two. Just to make sure you have a selection of songs to chose from right? The first store, Omnifone’s MusicStation has been around for a while, but now Master Voda has something new: Vodafone Music.

Do you remember NetShare? The iPhone 3G application which lets you tether your iPhone was allowed in the App Store only to be canceled and then accepted again. Well apparently Apple has decided to disallow it after all. AT&T’s word must count for something. AT&T has confirmed that any tethering from your iPhone won’t be tolerated. I wonder what other carrier around the globe feel about it. (more…)

Apparently Apple has a third version of its iPhone 2.1 firmware but details are rather secret for now. Beta 3 doesn’t have any specification of new additions yet and it’s thought to solve bugs from earlier versions.

Rumored: T-Mobile to Copy Apple’s App Store

Apple’s App Store for iPhone 3G and iPod Touch has proven to be a great idea. Unlike MobileMe, the App Store became quite popular as developers starting to create all sorts of useful and not so useful application over the past month.
Well apparently T-Mobile has witnessed all that and wants to create a similar App Store. It’s rumored that T-Mobile is preparing a platform for developers to release their applications to T-Mobile customers.
So let me see if I got this right. T-Mobile wants developers to create Java, Windows Mobile and maybe Symbian applications which would be sold over an iTunes like platform? Would that be possible with the current lack of 3G support from T-Mobile? Imagine downloading T-Mobile applications without any 3G coverage. And how will T-Mobile motivate developers to choose their App Store over what Apple has?
We’re going to get answers in time. So far, this is just an unconfirmed rumor.

While we’re all waiting to get our hands on a Bold or Thunder, Research in Motion has more phones coming. Such a phone is the BlackBerry Javelin and we have some leaked pictures filled with details and features:
The phone doesn’t have 3G support and it will be available some time next year.

HTC is the only manufacturer that has an Android device in the works for later this year. While others have postponed their handsets to 2009, HTC was working hard on delivering an Android cell phone by the end of 2008. More people are suspecting that the future phone will be sold through T-Mobile, the only carrier that has announced an Android phone by the year’s end.
Despite all that, analyst Trip Chowdhry from Global Equities Research said that both technical and minimum payment issues will affect a 2008 release and HTC will postpone it to early next year? HTC denied it all saying their phone will be released this fall.
What do you think? Is HTC going to deliver on time or delay the official release of the first Android phone?

Canadians will finally get the Samsung Instinct from Bell. The popular phone which had great sales in the USA already from Sprint is ready to be purchased in Canada too.
Pricing is similar to what we’ve seen so far. If you’re in Canada, Bell will sell you an Instinct handset for $129.95 with a three year contract. Should you choose a two year contract you’ll have to pay $279.95. While we’re at it, there’s also a one year contract available. The Instinct costs $429.95 in this case. Finally if you were only looking for device without any plans what so ever, well Bell is going to let you do that too. A free handset will cost you just $479.95.

Google wants a piece of the iPhone 3G business and they will get one. For now their Google Translate application is available from Google, just go to translate.google.com from your phone and get it for free.
With Google Translate you will be able to translate websites, blogs and phrases to and from English in 24 languages for now. The application is optimized for speed and it will certainly prove useful when you’re traveling. Sure the application comes for free but you will have to pay various roaming and data charges when accessing it.

The Guys over at Sprint have some financial problems to say the least. We’ve seen them sell a large number of their towers a few weeks ago and we’ve heard rumors about Sprint selling Nextel.
It appears now that Google is interested in a Sprint acquisition. The rumor has been around the block last year too but it appears that now Google has a special interest in Sprint’s WiMAX network now which they would surely use to launch the first Android devices.
For now we don’t have any Android devices and no official news around the matter. Are we to see Google’s XOHM soon?
