  • We are just two days away from the official BlackBerry Bold launch in the UK. The first carrier ready to deliver it is Orange UK and it will launch the Bold on August 16th.

Business users are rumored to get the Bold for free with some sort of agreement which is around 45GBP or $90 per month for 18 months. There’s no word on customer agreement yet but in two days’ time you’ll find all that info for yourself.

Remember how we were talking about a future corn-made cell phone from Samsung? Well it appears we are already in the future as Samsung has the corn cell phone ready. We are looking at a fairly limited handset here. The E200 Eco has a 1.3 megapixel camera and some MP3 player functions and of course a case made of corn. Don’t eat it now!

There’s no word on pricing or availability yet but it’s said that the E200 will be available in Europe sometime next month.

AT&T will apparently let you buy Apple’s handset online now, with shipping estimated at 7 to 10 days. What you need to do is have a company to pay your cell phone bill. Then make sure your IT or Telecom Manager says the iPhone 3G is a supported device. After that got to AT&T Premier online and order the phone.

AT&T Premier is a service for companies which will help them select only the best AT&T Executinve Service for their needs. Well then I guess I need a company to pay my cell phone bill…

  • It appears that Apple doesn’t always think outside the box the proper and legal way. A former top lawyer has just agreed to pay $2.2 million to settle federal charges. Apparently she cooked Apple’s books in order to hide backdated stock options issued to Steve Jobs and other executives.

The Securities and Exchange Commission alleged that Nancy Heinen helped Apple backdate two options grants to senior executives including herself. The move lead to $40 million being underreported in expenses. Steve Jobs was supposed to be a witness in the trial but Nancy Heinen settled. Besides the fine she agreed to be barred for five years from serving as an officer or director of any public company. Well that must mean she can afford it all. Not that it’s relevant to the whole case, but does she own any iPhone model?

Apple said its CEO knew about the whole think but he didn’t benefit from it. Sure he didn’t! He is just an innocent bystander in all of this right?

He didn’t know it was illegal, Apple says. Well I guess it is. Jobs wasn’t charged yet and I wonder if he’ll ever be…

  • We’ve been waiting for a Dell E official release all week long but we’ve only seen the new Latitudes arrive. It’s still only Thursday so anything could happen.

In the mean time a new rumor has surfaced. The Dell E netbook will be code named Dell Inspiron 910. Furthermore, the E will include 3G options and it will miss a Fn key. The person that managed to squeeze all this info out of Dell wasn’t able to get any of the official pricing or availability date.

Let’s get back to waiting for the E then!

Intel Closer to Finishing USB 3.0

Are we going to have USB 3.0 ports available inside the upcoming laptops? We’ve been waiting for them for quite a while.

Intel has draft 0.9 ready of the USB 3.0 specification for manufacturers like AMD and NVIDIA. That means that all future motherboards will have offer the same technology so there won’t by any incompatibilities for any of the users.

The move follows AMD and NVIDIA’s threat to develop their version of USB 3.0 if Intel fails to disclose their work on it. Intel excuse was that they simply were not ready yet and they didn’t want to release any unfinished work.

Well than, Intel, AMD or NVIDIA, when am I going to get my USB 3.0 already?

I think working for Psystar must be really thrilling. Imagine a roller coaster ride full of adventures, where the last stop has written Jail all over it. Or does it have Remarkable Success written all over it?

As you can see I am yet to decide who will win the Apple vs Psystar court friendly battle. Sure Apple has a strong case but Psystar’s attorneys will not be easily defeated. Oh come now, you must remember Psystar! The guys which conveniently started to ship out cheap Mac clones to lots of people? You know, the cheap PCs with a Mac OS running at full speed? The kind of a deal that would piss off a certain Steve Jobs?

Wow, that’s like so cool! It is said that Sprint’s Blackberry Curve will get GPS and WiFi all into one. It’s kind of a special offer which they will simply name the 8350i. Probably RIM will name it and Sprint will sell it. Well I guess at first it was really a mind boggling problem to fit the GPS and the WiFi antenna inside the precious Curve. And now it’s all fixed.

I am guessing that’s going to happen sometime soon with Sprint and other carriers will follow. After all why buy a Curve with only one of the must have features when you can get them both now?

    BlackBerry 8800 Launched in Russia

While some Russians are eager to get their mobile heavy duty tanks in little Georgia, Research in Motion is eager to get their mobile BlackBerries in Russia. The BlackBerry 8800 was launched in Russia for Beeline subscribers

The BlackBerry 8800 despite not being the newest RIM out there, is going to bring advanced email and messaging to Russian subscribers. The QWERTY full keyboard will support both English and Russian language. It will help you navigate online through the Internet browser. An organizer and media player with audio and video support are also available. The LCD comes with light sensing technology which will automatically adjust backlighting. The GPS is present too as well as an expandable memory slot.

So get off your tank, leave the Georgians alone and get yourself a BlackBerry 8800.

Bell is going to launch the Sanyo Katana Eclipse for their Canadian subscribers. The handset will sell for $49.95. The trick is that you would have to sign a 3 year contract for that price. A 2 year contract means you have to pay $99.99 for the handset while a more simpler 1 year contract will get you a $224.95 price for the Sanyo.

Those of you that want the Sanyo without any kind of commitments will get it for about $274.95. I know it seems a lot for the Katana Eclipse but hey, you won’t be getting yourself into any agreement you don’t want.

    Sprint
customers you’ll have to wait for the US release!

Ohio Apple Store Out of Stock

An Apple Store in Ohio got robbed early yesterday morning. Robbers entered through a shattered window or door and started to load up Apple products in the trunk of a black Lexus. The police arrived almost on time but they only managed to get their car hit by the robber’s. Probably no one taught those officers to actually follow another car. Or maybe their engine stalled.

  • VoIP for iPhone?

Tethering is not the only thing AT&T prohibits. VoIP is also a no-no application. AT&T doesn’t want you to talk almost for free with your friends via your VoIP application. Luckily for all AT&T iPhone customers, Global IP Solutions want to release a VoIP software kit for the iPhone. With it you will not only be able to make VoIP calls, but you could add VoIP to other programs. (more…)

Here’s the kind of news I foresaw a few days ago while watching the rumored HTC’s Android powered Dream video. Only that I wasn’t expecting it to arrive so soon. It appears that T-Mobile will start presales for the Dream on September 17th and open sales on September 24th. Named conveniently the G1, I guess Google1 was to long, the Dream will be priced $150 or $399. (more…)
