  • Boaters looking for a chartplotting GPS device may want to check out the new Garmin GPSMAP 5212, which features top of the line specs and an “unprecedented” touchscreen display and interface to make navigation and marine network operation as simple as it gets.

    garmin5212marine.jpg

The Garmine GPSMAP 5212 Marine GPS Chartplotter features a 12.-inch (diagonal) XGA touchscreen with a simplified interface. The 5212 also features a new slim-line design, which gives the unit a flat-panel look when mounted. And because water can get things a bit wet, the device is also highly waterproof, making it able to withstand the worst of waves and spills.

The GPSMAP 5212 comes preloaded with BlueChart g2 maps of the coastal United States (including Alaska, Hawaii, and the Bahamas), and worldwide satellite imagery. If you want to go the extra mile, pick up the optional BlueChart g2 Vision SD data card, which is loaded with high-resolution aerial reference photos that will help you to locate marinas, fuel stops, and restaurants; or navigate tricky channels and harbors.

Boaters, it doesn’t get any better than this. For such a feature-packed, durable GPS device you can expect to pay - the Garmin GPSMAP 5212 costs about $4000 and will be available in Q2 2007.
