The world’s thinnest 7MP digital camera, the Samsung L77, is just in time for Father’s Day this June. It can be hard shopping for father’s day gift’s, but the Samsung L77 camera will surely put a smile on dad’s face.

The camera is housed in an elegant metal body which features a 2.5″ TFT LCD display for bright, clear viewing. Images can be captured in vivid detail from further distances with up to 7x optical zoom. Shutter speeds of up to 1/1,250 sec and an ISO equivalent of 1600, provide the ability to take action in any situation from dusk to fast moving sports. To minimize effects of hand shake and recieve the best shots, even in low light conditions, the camera comes equipped with Samsung’s ASR (Advanced Shake Reduction). The L77 can also capture VGA quality MPEG-4 video easily, which also features a Movie Stabilizer function. When activated, the Movie Stabilizer compensates for camera movement and subject blur for better quality and performance.

Panasonic added another model to its LUMIX series of digital cameras with the new LUMIX DMC-FX100, featuring a 12.2 megapixel resolution and 28mm wide-angle lens. The Leica lens offers 3.6x optical zoom, while the 1/1.72″ CCD and image stabilization with Mega O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilization) make it a breeze to shoot photos even in low light conditions.

The DMC-FX100 is equipped with a 2.5″ preview LCD. Apart from Mega O.I.S., this camera features Intelligent ISO Control to prevent blurring. The availability of this coupled with a 12.2 megapixel resolution in a point-and-shoot camera is a first of its kind.

A powerful flash part of the camera now reaches subjects up to 16 meters away. A high-speed burst shooting mode lets you capture as many as eight shots per second. The DMC-FX100 can also record 1920×1080 high-definition still photos and 1280 x 720 resolution video at 15 fps.

Casio announces the release of their newest model in EXILIM series digital cameras, the EXILIM Zoom EX-Z1200. The new EXILM Zoom camera delivers premium performance and high resolutions. Offering 12.1 megapixels, the highest resolution in a compact digital camera, crystal clear photos are possible in large or cropped sizes with amazing detail.

Bet this one has a good chance of fooling you. The design looks like that of a cell phone, but this is really just a plain old digital camera. It fits easily in your hand, but vertically like a cell, and features an LCD projector that can present pictures you’ve taken or connect to other media devices to display photos or video. Most digital cams can’t boast that feature!

There are ports along the top of the camera, that allow you to charge the camera, versus replacing batteries (which is a pain!). To switch between taking photos, or projecting them, all you have to do is flip the mode button.

Mother’s Day is coming soon and many are wondering what moms want. In a recent national survey from Circuit City, they asked that question to figure out what ranked on the top of the list for Mother’s Day gifts. The survey involved over 3000 moms and dads across the country who were asked to choose their preferred Mother’s Day Gift. Ranking on the top of the list was a new digital camera. Data collected showed that 20% of moms chose a digital camera. Other statistics from the survey were:

– 16 percent chose flowers
– 16 percent chose a camcorder
– 12 percent chose DVD movies or music CDs
– 9 percent chose an MP3 player
– 1 percent chose candy

The survey was commissioned by Circuit City Stores and conducted by Decision Analyst, an independent research firm. With the results, Circuit City decided to celebrate Mother’s Day with special events related to Digital Imaging.

Sanyo Europe announced their new, S70 digital camera, which will replace the S7. This camera comes packed with a 7.1MP camera, and a crisp clear 2.5″ LCD screen. Also, features like automatic face recognition, and both Auto and Force Flash Modes. Not much is known at the moment, but I did get my hand on a press statement thanks to Image-Acquire

BenQ recently announced its thinnest BenQ T700 digital camera with a thickness of 14.9mm at a retail price of NT$10,990 (US$333). With the aim of achieving a position in five top brands in the Taiwan market for the year, the company is planning to increase its annual production and sale. BenQ T700 features 1/2.5-inch CCD image sensor lens and a resolution of 7.2-megapixel. It boasts of a 3.0-inch 230,000-pixel LTPS LCD touch panel screen, 3x optical, 4x digital Zoom and, weight 120g (not including battery). You can store up to 18MB data; for more storage you can use an external SD card of up to 2GB. Other features include Pentax light to guard against dazzles, three low polytropisms LTPS, Super Shake Free mode and high photosensitiveness ISO 4,000. BenQ T700 is now available in four colors black, white, sliver, and red.
