panasonic_logo.jpgPanasonic announced that it will soon launch a new 8GB high-speed SD memory card. The RP-SDV08GU1K 8GB high capacity SD (SDHC) memory card adds up to Panasonic’s line up of Pro High Speed models which already include the 1GB, 2GB and 4GB models. All are rated at a Class 6 Speed specification.

Later this year Panasonic will also unveil a 16GB model in this series. With new hi-res digital cameras and HD camcorders, the need for space on these gadgets is ever-increasing. Thanks to SD Memory Card v2.0 compatibility and the high capacity, the memory card guarantees minimum data transfer speeds of 6MB/sec.

The RP-SDV08GU1K memory card can record up to 2 hours of high definition video in AVCHD normal mode or about 3080 high resolution images. Fast enough for professional, broadcast-use digital cameras, you won’t have to worry about consecutive shooting on your new digital SLR camera.

The RP-SDV08GU1K will be priced at US $159.99 and will be available starting 8GB.

Samsung i85 Digital Camera Launched

It is exactly the size of a regular sized credit card and will definitely turn heads with its brushed silver aluminum body. The Samsung i85 has an impressive 3.0-inch high-resolution LCD screen that dominates the back portion of the camera. It enhances the imaging experience, which gives us a very detailed display when we compose shots, review images and even when viewing video clips.

The quality of the lens and optical zoom is also outstanding. It goes beyond what is expected from a lightweight and portable camera. It has 5X optical zoom (35mm film equivalent: 36~180mm) NV lens boasting a maximum shutter speed of 1/2,000 sec and a super macro focus of 1cm.

The camera features the PMP functionality which enables users to enjoy movies, music videos, television shows and even their favorite music while on-the-go. When setting the camera to its PMP mode, users can easily listen to their favorite MP3 files or watch their favorite video content on the camera’s large, 3.0″ high-resolution display. dmc-fx55.jpg Today Panasonic announced the impending launch of its latest addition to their line up of digital cameras, the DMC- FX55 Lumix digital camera.

The FX55 features a great 3-inch LCD screen for viewing your shots, as well as 27MB of internal memory storage. Clearly the built-in storage will not work for most people who take many photos, so the camera’s storage capacity can be expanded through the use of a SD memory card.

Innovative features of the camera include the new “Title Edit” function, which allows you to input text to provide additional context to images. You can also input other data on the images with the Text Stamp function, as well as the Travel Date function. To view your images in a more organized fashion, you can utilize the “Category Playback” function, which will sort your images into categories (such as portraits, events, baby, and so on).

The DMC- FX55 Lumix digital camera from Panasonic will be available in silver, black and pink, and will be available for purchase in September 2007 for $349.95.

GE E1040

Make way for the new GE E1040 10 megapixel digital camera. The E1040 is claimed to be a mid-range camera and offers 4x optical zoom plus 4.5x digital zoom, and features a large 3″ LCD screen. GE also claims that the camera has a highly intuitive interface.

One of the neat features on the E1040 camera is that it offers in-camera panoramic stitching, so you can see what your shots look like without having to transfer it onto a computer. Another feature is the in-camera red-eye removal. Saves time.

The other usual features include face-tracking, electronic stabilization and the ability to record videos in MPEG-4 format. It is powered by a Li-ion battery. The camera takes SD cards up to 4GB (SD high capacity cards).

Ideal point-and-shoot camera if you are looking to buy your first camera. Supports ISO levels up to 3200. Available through HSN, the GE E1040 digital camera is priced at US $279.90 and comes in black, pink and silver.

Sony Net-Sharing CAMSomebody had to go and do it. This time, it’s Sony. Sensing a void in the social network user’s desktop, Sony announced the new Sony Net-sharing CAM, a pocket-sized camera targeted at video bloggers and social networkers who regularly upload photos/videos onto the web.

The Net-sharing CAM allows seamless uploads of short video clips, and even takes 5-megapixel still photos. At 5 oz, it’s hardly noticeable in your pocket, measuring just 1 3/16″ x 4 1/8″ x 2 1/4″.

The CAM can record up to 5 hours of web-ready video on a 2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo card, in MPEG4 format. Picture qualities range from QVGA/15fps to VGA/30fps (viewable on TV). A sharemark button allows you to tag the videos that you want to upload.

Pre-loaded with Portable software, you can directly publish videos to Crackle and other video sharing sites. The camera includes a built-in flash, 4x digital zoom and a 2.4″ LCD screen. A Li-ion battery powers it up (expect 90 minutes of battery life).

Priced at US $200, the Sony Net-sharing CAM will be available online on Sony Style and in retail locations.

    Samsung L730 Digital Camera

    logo.jpgSamsung UK has introduced its latest digital camera range with the launch of the L730 Camera. This compact model is expected to ship at a suggested price of ?119. The cameras in Metallic Silver finish are supposed to feature a 2.5-inch LCD screen, movie capture mode in 320×240 to 800×592, 3X optical zoom, ISO to 1600, 16 MB of internal memory (plus SD support to 4GB), and Digimax Master software. L730 like he latest cameras is equipped with advanced technologies including Intelligent Face Recognition Technology, auto focus and auto exposure for superb image quality in portraits. Samsung L730 is not yet officially announced. So, we need to wait for a while. Don? worry, say connected for updates.

    Casio Exilim EX-S880 and EX-Z77 Digital CamerasWell, whaddaya know? Fresh from the campus of Casio in Dover, New Jersey (just a few miles from where I live, actually) comes news of two new digital cameras in the Exilim series, featuring enhanced Exilim Engine 2.0 image processing module.

    The new models, Casio Exilim EX-S880 and Exilim EX-Z77, are unique in the fact that they both include a new YouTube capture mode, a video recording mode specially designed for uploading videos to the popular video site.

    In YouTube mode, video is captured in MPEG4 H.264 quality, at a compression ratio that allows users to record longer at no significant loss of movie quality. The video resolution is 640×480 pixels at up to 30fps.

    The Casio EX-S880 offers a mammoth 8.1 megapixel resolution for photos and comes in a thin card size, and is available in red and black for an MSRP of US $299.99. The EX-Z77 is a 7.2 megapixel compact camera, available in black, blue, pink and silver and is priced at $229.99. Expect them to hit the stores in August 2007.

    Minox of Germany unveiled its latest digital camera, the Minox DC 7022 slim, a sleek 7-megapixel camera measuring 94.5mm x 55mm x 23mm. The DC 7022 is equipped with a 28mm wide-angle lens and it offers 4x optical zoom.

    The preview LCD is a large 3.0″ TFT one. Available in a smooth, black anodized aluminum body, the Minox DC 7022 weighs in at just 124 grams, and can slide in your pocket. The camera features a 1/2.5″ CCD image sensor, and optimized Minoctar lens.

    The DC 7022 also offers electronic image stabilization, great for long exposure shots as well as macro mode. Sensitivity from ISO 50 to ISO 1600 is possible. You can also shoot videos on this camera. It supports SD memory cards up to 4GB in size, apart from the 32MB already available on-board. The DC 7022 offers a USB 2.0 interface to transfer photos onto your computer.

    Startng today there are two new digital cameras on the market made by BenQ, they are named BenQ E820 and C740i. Both are upgrades from previous digital cameras and make use of a Pentax lens on the display that measures 2.5-inches and is categorized as a LTPS screen.

    The BenQ E820 features a CCD image sensor with 8.0 megapixels and working in cooperation with it there is a 3x optical zoom. Other features include a direct printing mode, a movie recording function (with zoom), 13 scene modes, and different dimension formats to record videos/print/take photos. On top of all that there are some default photo frames to make them look better, or worse.

    As for the BenQ C740i which is an upgraded version of the C740, the megapixels are fewer ? 7 ? and it also includes the movie recording functions with the custom face-tracking feature which is good to detect and track human faces while making a movie.

    Kodak EasyShare Z1275 Digital Camera

    Kodak unveiled its newest line of sleek digital cameras with the EasyShare Z1275 compact, high-zoom digital camera. Boasting 5x optical zoom and 12-megapixel resolution, the Z1275 comes with digital image stabilization along with Kodak Perfect Touch technology.

    A standard 2.5″ preview LCD is available on the camera. Using the Z1275’s Favorites feature, you can store your most treasured images on the camera’s memory (without occupying space on your memory card). The 35-175mm equivalent lens and as many as 19 scene modes make it easy for even beginners to take up photography seriously.

    As usual, the Share button allows you to print/email/organize your photos with a single touch. Bundled software includes EasyShare version 6.2, allowing you to access the Kodak Gallery online.

    Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS2 7.2 megapixel Digital Camera

    Make way for the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS2 digital camera, offering all of 7.2 megapixels and a 2.5″ preview LCD. Available in silver, pink and black colors, the DMC-FS2 will initially hit Japan starting June 15, 2007.

    Taking the Lumix FS series to the next level, the DMC-FS2 is compact at just 24.2mm thickness. The camera features optical hand-blurring revision gyro, high sensitivity (up to IS 3200) and triple blurring revision allowing you to shoot blur-free images.

    You can shoot videos in VGA/wide VGA formats, as well as take still photos at 16:9 aspect ratio. An intelligent ISO sensitivity mode allows auto selection among ISO 400/800/1250.

    No pricing has been announced at this time.

    olympusom1.jpg Olympus has a long history as a camera company, and are considered to be leaders in creating innovative new cameras. In 2005, Yoshihisa Maitani, an Advisor at Olympus Corporation, gave a great presentation overviewing the history of Olympus as a company, as well as discussing his uncompromising philosophy as a developer to create cameras that previously didn’t exist elsewhere.

    14X Spotting Scope Digital Camera

    74079.jpegCheck out this cool 14X Spotting Scope Digital Camera, which is actually a cheaper alternative to an expensive DSLR. The Spotting Scope as a built-in 3.1 mega pixel camera and includes a 70mm objective lens that provides 14X magnification, and a field of view of 210′ at 1,000 yards.

    The Scope also features 32MB of built-in memory, which can store 38 high-resolution images or 30 seconds of continuous VGA video, and accepts up to 2GB of additional memory using SD cards. There is a USB port too and a 2″ LCD which can flip up. The 14X Spotting Scope Digital Camera is available here for $499.95.
