Toshiba is planning to launch a bunch of new phones Windows Mobile 6.5 in the near future. After we’ve seen the TG01, one of the most interesting phones launched this year, we definitely want to see what new phones Toshiba will imagine next.
The K01 is supposed to be a QWERTY slider smartphone that will offer you a 4.1-inch capacitive touchscreen, a 1GHz processor and a 3.2-megapixel camera.
The K02 is a clamshell phone that will come with an internal 3.5-inch resistive touchscreen, a secondary, external LCD and a full QWERTY keyboard on the inside.
The L01 is more of a tablet-like device. It will come with a 7-inch touchscreen but there are not that many details about it. The L01 and K01 will be unveiled by the end of the year while the K02 will only be revealed sometime next year.

A new connector is coming to your future cell phones and mobile devices and its solely purpose is to connect said device to HDTVs and display. The Mobile High-Definition Interface Working Group will conceive it soon as various companies have already agreed upon such a bold endeavor. Nokia, Samsung, Toshiba, Sony and Silicon Image will work together to create the new standard. The question is, do we really need a new standard in our lives? After all we already have so many and with Apple’s and Intel’s Light Peak universal connector that’s coming in a couple of years there isn’t much point for devising an HD-only standard. What are your thoughts on the matter?

Don’t look so surprised by that number! Windows Mobile 6.5 is coming and it looks like there are quite a few phone makers ready to roll phone capable or running Microsoft’s newest OS. And while we’re definitely thrilled to see that concept tablet, the Courier already, we can’t say we’re similarly interested in Windows Mobile 6.5. The OS is clearly a transition platform from the old Windows Mobile 6 to the future Windows Mobile 7.
Nonetheless manufacturers out there are ready to launch Windows Mobile 6.5 phones! Those 30 new handsets capable of running Microsoft latest OS will be made by HTC, Samsung, LG, Sony Ericsson, Acer, Toshiba and HP. The phones will be released by the end of the year and we know a few carriers are definitely interested: AT&T, Sprint, Verizon Wireless, Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone, NTT DoCoMo, Softbank Mobile, SKT, Telestra and Telus.

October 6th is shaping up to be quite a day for Microsoft, with many WM6.5 devices lined up to be out the door from many major companies. The newest device to join the list is the TG01, which was already launched earlier this year with 6.5’s younger sibling, Windows Mobile 6.1. The new variant of TG01 “Windows phone” will start selling on October 6, 2009 with Windows Mobile 6.5 across Europe and for those who already own the device, Toshiba will offer an upgrade to 6.5 with no extra cost starting the same day. Great news, but let’s hope they won’t include the virus this time around!

Toshiba’s TG01 phone was the first phone equipped with a 1GHz processor and it’s currently available in various markets. The TG01 didn’t get all the attention it deserves from the media but that didn’t stop Toshiba to work on a new handset, the TG02. We can’t produce any more hot photos of the device and we don’t have all the specs just yet but the phone has been confirmed by the WiFi Alliance. The TG01 follower will come with WiFi on board, touchscreen support, GPS, Bluetooth, HSPA and hopefully a lot of other hot features. We just have to be patient enough and wait for Toshiba to actually launch the phone.

Toshiba is not usually a brand you would associate with hard disk drives but it looks like they will have their first crack with the launch of external storage solutions. Toshiba launches new 3.5 HDDs for desktops which will come in 640GB and 1TB of storage. They can be connected with the usual USB interface and eSata.
Both drives will come with a software where users can easily backup their files. The 640GB HDD will cost around $129.99 while the 1TB costs $159.99. They are compatible with Windows and MAC computers.

If you love taking pictures and you also happen to own one of those fast Toshiba TG01 processors then you should know there’s third-party motion sensor available for it. The device will let you browse through a 2,000-inch picture easily, and it will connect through USB to the phone. The MEMS motion sensor was developed by the Usuda Research Institute and Systems Corp and it should be available in the near future for the T-01A (TG01) sold by NTT DoCoMo in Japan. Will we see the device appear in other markets too? How much will it cost?

Toshiba’s TG01 was released in Europe with some malware to the dismay of customers and then released again virus-free to a much happier market. However, virus or not, us Americans haven’t gotten the same TG01 love as our European brethrens.
Lucky for us, the TG01 was recently spotted to have passed through the FCC touting none other than CDMA hardware. For those of you not paying attention, Verizon and Sprint run on a CDMA network possibly confirming the phone will be coming to either carrier. Furthermore, Engadget notes that the phone was listed as a production model which means it may be closer to North American shelves than we had previously thought.
But just which carrier will get exclusivity? Sprint, Verizon, what say you?

You might already be aware of the fact that O2 is the carrier currently selling Toshiba’s TG01 phone in Germany. What you might not know is that O2 decided to stop sales of the TG01 after a virus has been discovered in various units. Sure it’s an unfortunate event but it looks like O2 has dealt with the problem. The smartphone is available again from O2’s website which is a good sign. We’re interested to see if this virus thing is going to affect TG01 smartphones in other markets. As for German customers, you’ll be able to purchase your TG01 phone in the following days. How does that sound?

Huge touchscreen display, check. A-GPS, check. Virus, check. Wait, a virus? Yep, that’s what some of O2’s customers learned the hard way, a virus preinstalled on Toshiba’s G01 Windows Mobile smartphone, which became available in Germany at the beginning of this month. The virus is said to be preinstalled on the TG01’s memory and although there is no information on how this affects the handset’s functionality, O2 has revealed that it affects only a few devices and not all that have been sold until now. Needless to say, no more TG01s will be sold in Germany until the issue is resolved and current owners can contact customer service to get a clean chit on their device. We’ll tell you more when O2 has a solution for this problem, so stay tuned.

It seems that the highly sought after Toshiba TG01 has finally made its way onto a carrier, unfortunately only in the UK.
This doesn’t mean UK cellphone users will be able to get their hands on the phone right away as Orange’s website states the handset is coming soon. And for those who don’t know, the TG01 is just 9.9mm thick, has a 3.1MP camera, 4.1″ touschscreen, YouTube and Windows Mobile 6.1.
Just when will the TG01 be available? Well, come July 9th, we’ll probably have a more solid answer.

Formally announced back in February as the TG01, Toshiba has recently announced that a rebranded version of the phone, the T-01A, has made its way to Japan today.
If you’re not familiar with this phone, it clocks in at a ridiculously small 9.9mm thick and features Qualcomm’s ridiculously fast (for a cellphone) 1GHz Snapdragon processor. Additionally, the TG01 T-01A features a 800 x 480 4.1-inch WVGA resistive touchscreen and support for HSDPA, GPS and WiFi. Software wise you’ll find the T-01A running Windows Mobile 6.1. What, were you expecting Android?
