Now before you read on, make note that T-Mobile made an obvious mistake with their BlackBerry Bold 9700 listing, as you can see above, with the picture of the device getting mixed up.
Anyways, the Bold 9700 is now available from T-Mobile for $199.99 on a 2-year contract or $449.99 with no plan. This device features a 3.2MP camera, optical track pad (taking the place of the classic trackball) and Visual Voicemail.
Again, the device you see in the above picture is not the BlackBerry Bold 9700 and T-Mobile is expected to update the page any minute.

The sales are now open for the Tap touch phone released by T-Mobile, which costs $80 after a rebate plus a new contract agreement.
The Tap touch phone is made by Huawei and supports T-Mobile’s 3G network, as well as 1700MHz UMTS/HSDPA. As you can see on the image, the design is a real rounded block and like many other phone it has a large touch screen area on the middle. The goodies on the Tap include the access to the T-Mobile web2go service, and also GPS.
The limit of microSD memory cards is 8GB, which should be good enough to take photos and record videos with the 2-megapixel camera, or to fill it up with songs to listen with the music player.

We published a story yesterday telling you about T-Mobile’s sudden outage which affected a lot of people. Although T-Mo restored all the services, that wasn’t done almost immediately despite the company’s quick response. And today we found out what caused the issue. It looks like a software error was to blame. That’s why thousands of T-Mobile customers saw dropped calls and busy tones despite having very good signal from the towers. Here’s what T-Mobile had to say about the outage:
On Tuesday, some T-Mobile customers may have experienced service disruptions impacting voice and messaging services. We restored full service to all affected customers later in the day. After investigating the cause, we have determined that a backend system software error had generated abnormal congestion on the network. T-Mobile has since implemented additional measures to help prevent this from happening in the future. We again apologize to those customers who were affected and may have been inconvenienced.
This certainly doesn’t look good on T-Mobile especially considering the recent Sidekick troubles. What about you? Is you T-Mobile phone working properly again?

The fact that T-Mobile wants to upgrade its network to the next level is well known already but it looks like the company has already started deploying its brand new 7.2Mbps HSPA network. People are reporting that T-Mobile already has deployed HSPA in various markets. The rollout is not official yet but we’re expecting T-Mobile to make it available by the end of the year. If you’re around New York or Chicago, go ahead and test your T-Mobile connection and tell us more about it. Speeds between 3.80Mbps and 5.40Mbps have been reported so T-Mobile is definitely testing the new network as we speak.

Yes, T-Mobile was down for a little while this morning, but not to fear, for their “rapid response teams have been mobilized to restore service as quickly as possible”.
This was a statement made several hours ago, and it would appear that everything has been restored. According to the company, only 5 percent of users were affected by this outage. However, New York was quite heavily affected, which makes the percentile seem a little small.
Everyone have their Sidekick data back? I’m kidding, seriously.

The latest Blackberry smartphone buzz out there has to be leaning more towards the Blackberry Bold 9700. And while it has gained FCC approval, indications on what company would be carrying it was practically given away thanks to the AWS (WCDMA Band IV) which pointed to this being a T-Mobile version phone. Now all you have to do is wait and see when it will officially be coming out and how much it would cost.

Although at some point it seemed that T-Mobile and Microsoft will not be able to recover that Sidekick lost data, the two companies figured out a way to recover stuff after all. The first thing to be fully restored is the contacts list of your phone. What you have to do is go to My T-Mobile webpage, download your contacts and restore them. While you’re at it you could also consider backing them up because who knows when this could happen again.
T-Mobile has provided detailed instructions on how to retrieve the lost contacts list so all you have to do is go ahead and get them. Before we declare Microsoft and Danger the heroes of the day we’ll have to also see everything else being brought back from the death and restored to your Sidekick phone.

Last week we told you that due to server problems, T-Mobile had lost almost all of the personal data stored on Sidekicks everywhere. Today, we have some brighter news whih Microsoft’s Roz Ho tells us about below:
We are pleased to report that we have recovered most, if not all, customer data for those Sidekick customers whose data was affected by the recent outage. We plan to begin restoring users’ personal data as soon as possible, starting with personal contacts, after we have validated the data and our restoration plan. We will then continue to work around the clock to restore data to all affected users, including calendar, notes, tasks, photographs and high scores, as quickly as possible.
We now believe that data loss affected a minority of Sidekick users. If your Sidekick account was among those affected, please continue to log into these forums for the latest updates about when data restoration will begin, and any steps you may need to take. We will work with T-Mobile to post the next update on data restoration timing no later than Saturday.
So folks, if your Sidekick was affected, did you get your data back? Let us know in the comments.
