30 Jan 10 T-Mobile to offer free replacement on trackballs of certain BlackBerry models

blackberry_trackball_250x250I didn’t realize that there was any problem with the trackballs on certain BlackBerry models, but T-Mobile is offering a free service to replace the trackballs on the BlackBerry Pearl 8100, 8120, not to mention the BlackBerry Curve 8320.

The user has to be a T-Mobile customer in order to get this free replacement. I’m guessing you’re probably going to have to prove that when you go to the T-Mobile store to get it replaced. If you are in need of a replacement trackball on your T-Mobile, then wait until February 15th before heading to your nearest T-Mobile outlet. There is no word on when this free replacement service will expire, so I recommend getting it done as soon as possible.

29 Jan 10 Google Nexus One dock for $45

desktop_dockConsidering that iPod and iPhone docks are everywhere, someone really needs to make a Nexus One dock. Well, this is it right here, an official Nexus One dock.

I don’t know if this is the first of its kind, but when the Nexus One is plugged in, you’ll have access to the weather, alarms, slideshows, and music. The dock also has an RCA-out audio cable so you can play music through speakers. You should be able to get this for about $45.

29 Jan 10 T-Mobile 3G connection down for the Nexus One?

nexusonesad

The internet is abuzz over the fact that the T-Mobile 3G connection for the Nexus One is currently non existent. There’s no word on why the outage has occured or what T-Mobile is doing to fix it but we can guess that Google will be none too pleased. Perhaps this will give them a kick in the rear to get the  Verizon version out sooner rather than later.

Of course, there are reports that the network is working and contrasting reports that say it isn’t. Is it working for you guys?

25 Jan 10 T-Mobile wants to adopt DoubleTwist MP3 integration for Android-playing Mobile devices

Let’s say you have a non-Apple device, and you want to download MP3s on it. You could do it the hard way, or get DoubleTwist.

DoubleTwist isn’t a gum, but a way of getting your MP3 tracks onto devices such as the Nexus One, Android devices, or other non-Apple mobiles. You can watch the video here to see it in action, and you should know that T-Mobile is planning on pre-loading Double-Twist software with many of the new Android devices.

25 Jan 10 Updated HTC HD2 coming to the US

htchd2

The HTC HD2 is undoubtedly the sleekest Windows Mobile handset on the market today. Not to mention the fact that it is the only one with a capacitive touchscreen. Unfortunately, the device has yet to be picked up by a major carrier in the US putting it just out of reach for most consumers.

However, word has recently gotten out that not only will the HD2 be hitting T-Mobile at some point in the near future but it will have some updated specs to boot. These updated specs include 1GB of ROM and 567MB of RAM as compared to the previous 512MB and 448MB. Additionally, HTC will be throwing in a 16GB microSD card instead of the 2GB card bundled overseas.

Unfortunately we still have no word on exactly when this device will be made available but we’ll let you know as soon as we do.

24 Jan 10 T-Mobile could bring Motorola MOTOROI to the United States

motorola-motoroi-ofc

We’ve already reported on the Motorola MOTOROI, the first Android-powered cellular phone for the Korean market. It would appear that T-Mobile wants to bring the mobile device to the United States.

We can only assume that it will have the same specs, such as Android 2.0, 3.7 inch WVGA screen, 8GB of storage, microSD slot, 8 megapixel camera, and 720p recording capability. It is also planned to have a T-DMB TV tuner for watching 24 of South Korea’s channels, but I suppose that will have to be altered for the States.

Well, we don’t have a price on this, but we can estimate that it will be out in March.

24 Jan 10 T-Mobile could be giving the Sidekick a kick to the side

500x_500x_500x_sidekicklxsmallI’m sure I might will probably regret or congratulate myself for reporting on this, but we are receiving reports that T-Mobile may be phasing out the Sidekick.

I don’t think it has anything to do with those technical problems that went on last October with lost Sidekick data. I think this might be an “out with the old and in with the new situation”. The current theory is that the myTouch Slide will take the Sidekick’s place.

I’m sure that, in a few days, we’ll know for sure what Sidekick is doing. Until then, don’t quote me on anything I just said.

16 Jan 10 T-Mobile pushes out Windows Mobile 6.5

tmobilelogo

T-Mobile has today announced that they will be releasing Windows Mobile 6.5 for their HTC Touch Pro2 and Dash 3G cellular phones. To snag the update, just head over to T-Mobile’s website, enter in your IMEI and follow the instructions.

If you’ve been paying attention you’ll know that AT&T and Verizon have already gotten the Windows 6.5 treatment while Sprint has been left in the dark. However, rumors suggest that Sprint will be skipping over 6.5 entirely and instead push out Windows Mobile 6.6. Of course, these rumors are far from confirmed so we’ll have to wait and see.

15 Jan 10 T-Mobile myTouch 3G Fender Edition coming Jan. 20

It has been a while since we reported on the T-Mobile 3G Fender Edition, and we are pleased to report that we have a release date: January 20.

The Fender Edition will come with pre-installed music apps as well as several tracks by Eric Clapton himself such as “My Father’s Eyes”, “Layla”, “Rock ‘N’ Roll Heart”, and “Wonderful Tonight”. I don’t have a price on this guy, but it looks like a nice phone.

15 Jan 10 Google slashes Nexus One upgrade price, issues refunds

When the Nexus One first came out, T-Mobile users, who were eligible, were forced to pay $379 for an upgrade fee. Sure, that may seem a little high especially for a company who’s slogan is “Don’t be evil”. Luckily, Google has swooped in to announce that they will be slashing the upgrade price from $379 to $279.

Those of you who paid the $379 to upgrade, don’t worry as Google promises to give you a $100 refund through Google Checkout at some point in the near future. We’ll keep you posted about news regarding the refund.

12 Jan 10 Google adds $350 termination fee to the Nexus One

Future Nexus One owners just got another reason to buy the unsubsidized version of the phone, as Google has imposed a hefty $350 Early Termination Fee for the phone, if you cancel the service with the carriers within the first 120 days.

But that’s not all, because T-Mobile has its own Early Termination Fee, which costs $200. So if you’re thinking of canceling your service within 120 days, you’re out a good $550. Or you could just get the unsubsidized phone for $530.

22 Dec 09 HTC HD2 coming to T-Mobile

Back in October we showed you a leaked presentation slide that let us know that the HTC HD2 was coming to T-Mobile. Well, here we are a few months later and still no announcement from HTC or T-Mobile.

Luckily a leaked 2.01 ROM has appeared on the internet that shows a start screen with T-Mobile’s “stick together” slogan. As you can see, it also says “Test Only not for sale” under it which leads us to believe T-Mobile is currently testing the device.

T-Mobile users? Will you buy the HTC HD2 if it’s ever made available on the carrier?

21 Dec 09 FCC clears Sony Ericsson Xperia X10

Now here is something nice. The FCC has recently cleared the first Google Android phone from Sony Ericsson, the Xperia X10. Yes, we have reported on it before. So, is the Xperia X10 going to be all that? Well, it does have 1GHz Snapdragon, Wi-Fi, 8.1 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, and that 4-inch 854 x 480 pixel touch screen.

We still don’t know whether AT&T will be the carrier, but it does support T-Mobile 3G network.

01 Dec 09 T-Mobile to Launch Firmware Update for the Cliq

It’s not only Sony Ericsson that is launching a new firmware update for one of its phones these days. T-Mobile is also planning to launch a firmware update for one of its Android phones. The Motorola Cliq is going to receive the new update which is supposed to fix a bunch of problems. Bluetooth, touchscreen accuracy, connectivity, accelerometer functionality and battery life are all going to get fixed by the new firmware update. Unfortunately for us, build 1.3.31 will not bring you a different version of Android OS so you’ll have to still deal with Android 1.5 so far. What about you? How is your Cliq treating you these days?

01 Dec 09 AT&T Ranks Last in Consumer Report

The fact that AT&T ranks last in a consumer report doesn’t surprises anyone at this point. Just go ahead and ask some AT&T customers that happen to own an iPhone and they’ll surely complain about AT&T’s service. In 26 from 26 surveyed cities the official iPhone carrier was ranked last in every category. Verizon got the number one spot followed by T-Mobile and Sprint came in on third.

It will be interesting to see how those customer reports will affect Apple’s decision regarding the future of the iPhone in the USA. Will Verizon get the Apple smartphone already or are we going to expect some surprises next year?
