Sony Ericsson Hikaru Leaks Over

Everyone seems ready to leak a little bit of this and a little bit of that just in time for the MWC. Sony Ericsson leaked a new Walkman phone, the Sony Ericsson Hikaru. And this Walkman might make a name for itself with what it has to offer:

  • 2.6 inch display
  • 8 megapixel camera
  • Walkman player 4.0
  • 3.5mm headset jack
  • Stereo speakers
  • Dedicated music keys
  • 8GB internal memory

Now we need the usual missing details, pricing and an exact release date. To be fair, we do admit we know it’s coming out sometime before Q2.

Sony Music Entertainment and Kyte have agreed to let Sony artists produce raw videos with their mobile phones and distribute it to fans online and at their computers using Kyte’s technology. Artist like John Legend, Lady Gaga, and the All American Rejects can shoot lots of quick videos for fans using their own cell phones and deliver them immediately so fans can keep up with them on tour buses, backstage, onstage, in the studio and elsewhere.

Sony and Kyte are hoping the collaborative effort will boost sales for both the artists and the Kyte online music service. “Kyte allows me to connect with my fans in a much deeper way by sharing special, behind the scenes moments,” said Legend in a recent statement. “I was able to bring my fans right on stage with me at the ‘We Are One’ Inauguration concert, and they were able to experience the excitement that all of us on stage felt.”

    Sony Vaio P broken down

It hasn’t even been a full day since we last learned this thing actually existed and already images of it’s innards, spilled across a table, are circulating the internet.

For those of you not paying attention, the Sony Vaio P is Sony’s entrance into the netbook market. They market the product as the lightest 8″ netbook, clocking in at a mere 1.4 pounds, but theres a catch. Where the netbook suceeds in weighing close to nothing, it lacks in typical features.

But let’s be honest, for those with the money the lack of a traditional finger pad probably isn’t going to be an issue. Because really, who does work on these things anyways?

You can see the rest of the gallery to here, thanks to jkkmobile.

We saw the Sony Ericsson C905 leak out a few months ago. The phone was ultimately released and is one of the way better Cyber-shot camera phones out there. Boasting an 8.1 megapixel camera, the C905 is equipped with a 2.4 inch screen that can be used in both portrait and landscape modes thanks to the built in accelerometer. Measuring 104mm x 49mm x 18mm, the phone weighs in at an arguably hefty 136 grams (4.8 oz), and is compatible with GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz and UMTS 2100/HSDPA networks.

    Packaging

Our review unit, provided by the folks over at PureMobile, came with the following items in the package:

    • Sony Ericsson C905 Cyber-shot cell phone
    • Charger
    • Stereo headphones
    • USB data cable
    • PC Suite and Media Manager software CD
    • USB adapter for the memory stick

The phone comes with a slide-out keypad with standard T9 input that is common on most other Sony Ericsson phones. The phone features a crisp 262k color display, which doubles up as your camera preview window.

The original Sony Ericsson T303 was released on July, but for Christmas there is a special Daisy Edition which will become available on the UK, thank to T-Mobile.

It is priced at £50 which is closed $75, as a “Pay As You Go” cellphone, and the only difference when comparing it to the original model is only the design and colors used. The low-end slider cellphone boasts a TFT display that measures 1.8-inches, and comes with a 1.3-megapixel camera. Other features include FM radio, bluetooth, and 8MB on the internal memory.

When Sony Mylo 2 was released on January 2008, it cost a hefty $300. But today Sony announced that will take off $100 from the mobile phone price, dropping the total to $200.

If they are desperate enough to sell more phones by cutting $100 from the original value, just imagine the profit margin they were making from January till now. On the other hand, this tactic is always good to get more new customers. Now Sony just needs to know if price was the reason for the number of sales, or maybe mylo 2 itself is the problem.

QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi internet access, audio and video playback, built-in camera, and VoIP capability.

  • First-hand look at the New PSP 3000

For those of you eagerly waiting for the PSP 3000 (as I am), then you might be interested on this video by Cnet. Its a first-hand look on the new device (an upgrade for the PSP 2000) by Sony.

For those of you who didn’t know, the PSP is getting another minor makeover: the PSP 3000 gets an improved screen for better color reproduction and - possibly - less glare, a built-in microphone to increase the usability of its onboard Skype functionality, and better video output support. You can now, even play games on non-HDTV hookups.

The FCC has just approved Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 but hold on to your hats. You might not see it arrive that soon in your country. The FCC has approved a version X1i which is going to be released in Europe probably. The device they played with lacked 3G support which doesn’t sound that good, does it.

But since the X1i was already approve we assume it’s only a matter of time until a North American version will be given the OK. Hopefully the X1 will arrive in most markets by the end of the year. Waiting for carriers to announce it.

Sony Ericsson has a GreenHeart concept phone which hasn’t entered production yet, and it might not be massively produced any time soon. The concept phone is meant to prove that a phone is environmentally sustainable through its life cycle.

The GreenHeart will sport some of the various features:

    • bio-plastic housings
    • recycled plastic keypads
    • a zero charger with 3.5mW standby power
    • HTML based e-manuals instead of traditional printed ones
    • environmentally conscious packaging.

Sony Ericsson is on their way of creating a better eco-friendly, biodegradable phone. Hopefully they will be able to actually launch one for the general public.

Sony Ericsson had some problems with the full integration of Windows Mobile in their first Xperia phone. People noticed it but the Xperia wasn’t delayed to 2009. Now after the official release of G1, the world first handset wearing an Android OS, it’s reported that Sony Ericsson officials are considering the open-source OS for their future generation of Xperia smartphones.

Sony Ericsson president, Dick Komiyama said that his company is interestd in Android but they aren’t ready to adopt it yet. But they will be ready won’t they? Is Microsoft ready to see its Windows Mobile replaced with Android?

    Sony Ericsson Rika Gets Leaked

There’s not much info on the Sony Ericsson Rika yet. People say it’s a Walkman model of the Sony Ericsson G705. Besides the supposed music capabilities, the Rika seems to have a front camera which must mean it has 3G support.

Sony Ericsson hasn’t announced it yet, so that’s all we have so far: a picture and a bunch of maybes.

Tomorrow, September 8th, is the day when Sony Ericsson will announce the G705 aka Kumiko. The G705 which we’ve already seen will have a 3.2 megapixel with LED flash, HSUPA, 3G video calls, and M2 memory card support.

Things appear to be better for the Xperia X1. Sony Ericsson has launched the SDK for it which means software creators out there can start inventing new Windows Mobile applications for the handset.

The SDK runs on visual studio so it will be quite easy for developers to start working on new apps. Testing them won’t require an actual Xperia X1 phone since all testing can be done straight on the PC where the handset is emulated.

The SDK release should suggest an official launch closing in soon. From what we know, Sony Ericsson has confirmed a Q4 release without suggesting any actual dates.
