Back in May we got our first official glimpse of the 12.1 megapixel camera touting Sony Ericsson Satio. Now, a few months later, the device has finally made its way through the FCC which leaves us with the above live shot of the phone.
Spec wise this device is said to only feature GSM 850/1900 which means it will only have EDGE and no 3G however, at more details are revealed this may change. Now we just need to know what carrier (if any) will pick up Sony Ericsson’s Satio.

We’d like this picture to be a leaked shot of a certain upcoming touchscreen phone, the Sony Ericsson Jalou, but unfortunately it isn’t. The photo shows a modified W995 so we’ll have to wait for the real Sony Ericsson Jalou to come out.
On a different note, the Jalou will offer you a 3-inch touchscreen, WiFi support, HSDPA connectivity and it will run on Symbian S60 5th Edition. Anyone really interested in a Symbian Sony Ericsson phone?

What you see above is a video demo of the forthcoming Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2. Sure, the video is blurry, shakey and the person using the phone doesn’t really do anything of interest but at least it gives us a hint as to what expect when the handset drops at an unannounced date.
Below are the rumored specs of the XPERIA X2:

After we’ve seen the X2 earlier today, now we’re going to take a closer look at the Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X3 aka Rachael. The first Sony Ericsson Android phone has some specs available now so let’s see them:
Should we assume that Sony Ericsson has purposely leaked the X2 and X3 again? Is the company going to announce them soon? After all we were waiting for this announcement a few weeks ago but it never came!

Earlier today we reported to you that Nokia posted some pretty frightening numbers for for their Q2 profits and it seems that Sony Ericsson is in the same boat.
As a result of the shakey economy, SE was said to have shipped 13.8 million phones in Q2 of this year compared to the 24.4 million they shipped in Q2 of 2008. Furthermore, sales were down to €1.7 billion this year compared to last year’s €2.8 billion. To top it all off, they lost around €213 million in the same quarter.
President of Sony Ericsson, Dick Komiyama, comments on the hardships:
As expected, the second quarter was challenging and we still believe the remainder of the year will be difficult for Sony Ericsson. Our focus remains on bringing the company back to profitability and growth as quickly as possible, and our performance is starting to improve due to our cost reduction activities. The new product portfolio that integrates communications, entertainment and social media applications should contribute to healthier topline development when shipments start later this year. We remain confident that the actions we are taking will further improve our financial situation and strengthen Sony Ericsson’s competitiveness.
Let’s hope that Sony Ericsson, along with Nokia, return to greatness sooner rather than later.

Two entry-level phones have been officially unveiled by Sony Ericsson. They are two new Walkman phones, the W205 and the W205a and according to Sony Ericsson they will be the most affordable Walkman phones ever:
Here’s what you can expect from the new phones:
Sony Ericsson failed to announce the prices or availability dates for any of the two models. That’s a bit strange considering the company did say these are the cheapest Walkman phones ever to have been created. Shall we expect them to be available for free on contracts?

After being blessed by the FCC a while ago, the GPS-toting Sony Ericsson W518a is finally joining AT&T’s ranks this July 19 along with the 8mpx shooter, the Cybershot C905a. Take away the GPS receiver and the W518a will start to look like just another Walkman phone with the usual Walkman-oriented features, a 3.2 megapixel camera, and dedicated external music controls, but wait, don’t write it off so easy! The flip phone is Facebook enabled and its Advanced Shake Control gives users the ease of changing a song, shuffle, and control volume with just a shake. Still not good enough? Well, how about Gesture Control, where you wave your hand in front of its camera to reject a call? Yep, if that’s got your attention, all you have to do is wait till the W518a starts selling on July 19 with a $49.99 price tag to get one (after rebates with a two-year agreement).

AT&T and Sony Ericsson have just confirmed what we heard a few days back and starting July 19th, AT&T subscribers thinking of an upgrade to their ageing cameraphones will have a new option to consider, the Sony Ericsson C905a, an 8-megapixel shooter that adorns SE’s current Cybershot lineup. If the camera and its 30fps video recording capability don’t interest you, you might also want to know that the C905a is HSDPA ready and also has GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, FM radio and an M2 slot supporting up to 16GB cards. The Sony Ericsson C905a will be hitting AT&T’s shelves starting July 19 for a price of $180 (after rebates) on a two-year contract.

While we’re waiting for Sony Ericsson to come up with some ingenious new phone we’re happy to check out whatever handset they choose to leak. The Bao is a flip phone which Sony Ericsson might launch at some point in the future. The phone hasn’t been officially confirmed yet and by the looks of it we’re looking at a prototype. The phone’s model number is SE 123 which basically means that Sony Ericsson hasn’t decided what to do with it yet. Will we see it in stores soon? Before that happens we should definitely get some specs and pricing details. The pictures aren’t enough to get us all excited about this Bao phone. Right folks?

A video has hit the interwebs showcasing the beautiful UI that is to be featured on the forthcoming Android powered Sony Ericsson handset.
As you can see, this UI is looking to give HTC’s Sense UI a run for its money as Sony seems to have completely redone the stock Android UI. But anyways, enough chit chat, watch the above video and bask in the glory that is Rachael.
Now that we’ve seen the UI, can we get a release date and/or a price, Sony? Please?

A few months ago we saw the Sony Ericsson Twiggy Walkman phone get leaked and today we see it appear in pictures again. There’s no news about Twiggy’s future. People say the phone was cancelled so we definitely have to wait and see what the company has in mind regarding this Walkman phone. The phone comes with an unnecessary flip cover which lets you control the music. Well at least it lets you play and pause it when you like as there aren’t any other touch friendly buttons on it. The phone also sports a 3.2 camera worthy of your attention but other than that we have no specific info about the other features of the W350. So if the Twiggy is really cancelled, what other Walkman phones is Sony Ericsson working on?

We can definitely see Sony Ericsson pairing its interesting Xperia design with an Android OS. In fact that’s a more than good idea. An Android Xperia could be the killer phone we’re expecting from Sony Ericsson.
But the Sony Kiki concept isn’t bad either. For one thing, this phone is really green so should we expect it to be really eco-friendly too? It’s so green it doesn’t even have any keypad. So how would one be able to interact with it? Simply press your finger against that glass right? That seems pretty logical but we have no official news from Sony Ericsson regarding this phone.
And what about the screen of the Kiki? Is it projected on the glass surface? It would certainly seem so:
The display seems to be made of glass, and the screen image appears to be projected onto this glass surface. It makes it possible to create a sort of depth in the screen image, and it looks rather exciting. We’re very much looking forward to seeing more of this.
Again, there’s no official Sony Ericsson position on the Kiki just yet but our interest has certainly been piqued.

At this point we’re not sure how much merit you should put into this rumor, but take it as you will. A Danish mobile phone site, Mobil, has recently gotten their hands on what they are calling internal documents showcasing an Android powered Sony Ericcson XPERIA reportedly codenamed Rachael.
According to the documents, this phone will feature a full 1GHZ Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 8MP camera, HSPA and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Other than that, no details were spoken of. However, if this handset is truly set to hit the market sometime we can expect a statement from Sony in the coming weeks/months.

The most important cell phone makers out there have already announced 12-megapixel camera phones or are on the verge of doing so. We already know that Samsung, LG or Sony Ericsson will offer their customers a 12-megapixel shooter and Nokia will not want to miss any of that action.
The Finnish company will launch a 12-megapixel camera phone by the end of the year. There’s no official news from Nokia about the new phone but the rumors say it will feature a Carl Zeiss lens capable of optical zoom. That optical zoom will definitely convince some people to pick this 12-megapixel camera phone over that the competition has to offer.

There’s good news for everyone charging their phones in Europe. It looks like there’s a phone charging standard coming to all those European handset owners. The European Commission has received today confirmation for that micro-USB charging socket from the most important names in the mobile business. Nokia, Sony, Ericsson, Motorola, Apple, LG, NEC, Qualcomm, RIM, Samsung and Texas Instruments are all going to play ball and we should expect them to launch devices ready to be charged via a micro-USB charger sometime next year. On the long run the micro-UBS standard could be adopted by other markets too since CTIA, OMTP and the GSM Association also support it. Can’t wait for the day when I won’t hate myself for forgetting a certain phone charger! What are your thoughts on this?
