Sure, the design does give us a break from the standard designs that we see everyday, but would that merit a £530 price tag? And if that’s not a blow enough, Brand Republic, a magazine, revealed that the Sony Ericsson Pureness will not travel the usual routes to the customer but make its way to stores like the Selfridges and other “design museum shops” when it is released in UK this November. According to Cathy Davies, SE’s marketing director, the Pureness will be positioned more as an “iconic niche product, not mass-market.” Sounds more and more like a luxury phone than a low-end candybar with a transparent display, so write us down for the €599 X2 instead.

It seems that Sony Ericsson is gearing up to have a bit of a keynote of theirselves as the above flyer has recently been posted letting us know that the way we listen to music will change forever on September 21st.
Now, this is a bit of a zealous claim considering Sony Ericsson is continously pumping run-of-the-mill MP3 playing headsets so the same should be expected here. However, we can’t write the handset manufacturer off until the keynote actually rolls around. According to SE, the announcement will have to do with Bluetooth audio quality and ‘free energy’.
Check back around September 21st as we’ll keep you updated.

Sony Ericsson’s latest phone, the Xperia X2 has an off contract price apparently. The device has been leaked by eXpansys UK and it will cost $1,010. The phone will be released on January 11, 2010 so if you want a brand new, unlocked Sony Ericsson phone and you’re ready to pay all that cash for it then eXpansys UK is the way to go. Should we assume that the X2 will be overpriced even when purchased with a new contract? It’s only a Windows Mobile phone after all, and there are other phones out there that are definitely more popular and a lot cheaper. Will the X2 be a success or should we wait for Sony Ericsson to launch its first Android smartphones?

It’s still early to tell if Motorola is going to be successful in its Android venture but considering the popularity of Android and considering that new MOTOBLUR interface, we should assume that Motorola will have no problem selling lots of Android devices. Is this the way to go if you happen to be a manufacturer dying each day little by little?
Sony Ericsson is certainly not doing so well. In fact we’ve seen report after report showing financial loss after financial loss. So should we believe the rumors suggesting that Sony Ericsson will drop Windows Mobile next year in favor of Android and Symbian devices? According to those rumors, Sony Ericsson doesn’t believe in the power of Windows Mobile anymore. We’ll be waiting to see how Sony Ericsson plans to get reborn out of its own ashes. How does Sony Ericsson Android sound to you?

Sony Ericsson is the official mobile phone of the 2010 FIFA World Cup which is going to take place in South Africa. This is one of the weirdest Sony Ericsson you will ever see. And it has one of the weirdest names which happens to replace an even weirder name. The phone in the picture has been officially released by Sony Ericsson and we shall refer to it as the Xperia Pureness even if it doesn’t have anything to do with the Xperia line of smartphone. At least we’re not calling it Kiki anymore!
Sony Ericsson didn’t reveal any specs. All we know so far is that the Pureness is a candybar phone with a transparent screen. The phone will be available in November so we have plenty of time to see if it’s worth buying.

The Sony Ericsson W595 is now available in a new design if you have been holding out on getting it because of its bland and lifeless colors. Carphone Warehouse UK has put up an Ed Hardy version of the Walkman phone, that is festooned with Ed Hardy’s tattoos all over, which should evoke a few stares at the very least, but brushing aside its badass body, the W595 has chosen to remain true to its roots with a 3.2 megapixel camera, HSDPA network support, M2 card support, Bluetooth, and a 2.2-inch QVGA display. Available on Carphone Warehouse starting from £20 on an 18-month contract from T-Mobile UK.

What you see above is a recently released image of the Sony Ericsson Aino that comes to us as part of the device’s FCC filing. We’ve heard of this device once before, when Sony Ericsson first announced it, but at that time its release date was still a ways off.
Now, we still don’t have a release date but at least we know that a North American 3G version of the Aino is officially on its way. Couple that with the phone’s 3-inch touchscreen, slide out keypad, 8.1 megapixel camera and GPS and you have yourself a a none too shabby device.

Hello Kitty fans out there we have another collection item for you. This time it’s a phone and it’s coming from Sony Ericsson. The W395 Hello Kitty Edition looks cute and it’s ready to be purchased. Don’t expect this version to come with any extra features besides the pink paint and the famous kitten on top of it. The phone is currently available in Hong Kong and it will cost around $200 plus round trip plane fare.

For some reason RIM has decided not to include WiFi support in its recently launched BlackBerry Tour. And now we hear that RIM is doing everything in its power to add WiFi connectivity to the phone. Since the phone is getting a new feature, the Tour will be known as the Essex. So in case you’re feeling sorry for yourself for purchasing a WiFi-less Tour, then the Essex could be a nice replacement. There’s no word when the Essex will be available and what carrier will launch it. Should we simply assume it’s going to be a phone heading to Sprint since this carrier asked for WiFi on all its phones a short while ago?

Rarely would you see a mobile handset that can cater to dual-boot capability but it seems that Sunno is making that believable with their new Sunno S880. A dead-ringer for the Sony Ericcson Idou, this mobile phone boasts of a 3.6” WVGA display and a built-in 8 megapixel camera.
The Sunno S880 phone also comes with WiFi and GPS as well as an 806 MHz chip. But the real highlight of this phone is the dual boot. It can flip between the Microsoft and Google OS which is obviously catchy thing about it.
The Sunno S880 will reportedly be released on October 15. Pricing was not disclosed although it looks like the Sunno S880 mobile device may not even reach the borders of North America or Europe. Apparently it seems t be made for use only in China.

The next Sony Ericsson Xperia phone is on its way but while we wait for the X2 to become official we have plenty of time to check out this Sony Ericsson Xperia X5 aka Nadine concept. As you can see, the X5 will basically follow the same design guidelines of its predecessors. The large touchscreen display and the full QWERTY keyboard are both present although they look a lot better than what we’ve seen so far. Other features include a 12-megapixel camera with HD video recording which is certainly a nice surprise. But enough dreaming for now! Let’s see what the X2 is all about before we start thinking about the X5, shall we?

Sony Ericsson is set to unveil a new dandy handset with the Sony Ericsson U10i. It was originally known as the Aino, a mobile phone that had buzzed around in May. The U10i is GPS enabled and features an 8.1 MP digital camera and a slide out keypad form factor.
The Sony Ericsson U10i also includes a full touch screen display and supports microSD cards. The phone is equipped with the usual Bluetooth connectivity along with a removable 100mAh battery. There will also be other phones available such as the U10a and the U10.
The Sony Ericsson U10i is expected to officially come out by the fourth quarter of the year after gaining FCC approval just recently.
Here are some images of the Sony Ericsson U10i:

Not too long ago Sony Ericsson gave us the first look at their Jalou fashion minded handset. At the time, the device didn’t look half bad considering it was all glamored up for the press images.
Today however, the same handset has found its way through the FCC from which the above picture comes, and I must say, what were the designers thinking? I mean, I could understand the fashion concious consumer going for the Dolce&Gabbana Jalou just because of the branding, but the oddly shaped device pictured above? Not so much.

The man chiefly responsible for the turnaround of Sony Ericsson, Hidecki “Dick” Komiyama, will be retiring at the end of this year as revealed by the company. He will be succeeded by Bert Nordberg who will move over from Ericsson. Actually, Nordberg will be named co-President by September to allow a smooth transition until Komiyama officially steps down at the end of the year.
But if Komiyama’s performance is to be a gauge, Nordberg may have his work cut out for him. Komiyama has accomplished a lot of things, including that of turning around the company for the past two years. Now, Nordberg inherits a company experiencing losses since the middle of last year and on the verge of laying off some workers which is not a great scenario to begin with.
Many question the departure of Komiyama, especially since it comes at a time where new products are to be launched. But it was Komiyama himself he felt that the timing couldn’t have been better as the need for someone to complete the program transformation may prove to be better. And the person in the hot seat of it all is Nordberg.

Back in May we got our first official glimpse of the 12.1 megapixel camera touting Sony Ericsson Satio. Now, a few months later, the device has finally made its way through the FCC which leaves us with the above live shot of the phone.
Spec wise this device is said to only feature GSM 850/1900 which means it will only have EDGE and no 3G however, at more details are revealed this may change. Now we just need to know what carrier (if any) will pick up Sony Ericsson’s Satio.

We’d like this picture to be a leaked shot of a certain upcoming touchscreen phone, the Sony Ericsson Jalou, but unfortunately it isn’t. The photo shows a modified W995 so we’ll have to wait for the real Sony Ericsson Jalou to come out.
On a different note, the Jalou will offer you a 3-inch touchscreen, WiFi support, HSDPA connectivity and it will run on Symbian S60 5th Edition. Anyone really interested in a Symbian Sony Ericsson phone?

What you see above is a video demo of the forthcoming Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2. Sure, the video is blurry, shakey and the person using the phone doesn’t really do anything of interest but at least it gives us a hint as to what expect when the handset drops at an unannounced date.
Below are the rumored specs of the XPERIA X2:
