Sony k205a coming to USA

K250a.jpgAmericans will have a new low-end cellphone as Sony Ericsson announced the availability of the K205a handset in the states. Based on the pictures posted at the FCC, the phone will be called the K205a. This confirms the rumors milling about that ony Ericsson is really trying to leave a dent in the US market with budget models such as this. So far, consumers will need to wait for the official announcement from Sony Ericsson.

The K205a is an entry-level bar phone with dual-band GSM 850/1900 radios. It offers a pared-down feature set, such as SMS, MMS, and browsing. It has an internal antenna and digital camera. Pictures and other files can be shared via Infrared. It uses the standard Sony Ericsson charge/accessory port for things such as headsets. It supports bands found in the Americas and is compatible with several U.S networks, but no carrier has announced plans to sell this device.

  • Sony PSP Cell Phone in the Works?

230px-Psp1.pngSony Ericsson is on the move towards creating a mobile phone created and developed specifically for games. As I read this story, I can’t help but think of the Nokia N-Gage. Of course, I don’t know the story about that but when mobile phone and games come together in a sentence, the n-Gage almost always comes to mind. Sony Ericsson President Miles Flint said on his statement that this path could be “an area of possible future activity.”

These reports have been strengthened when Mobile Entertainment reported that Sony Ericsson would launch a new games device in February. Insider talk says the phone will not boast the PlayStation brand, but Flint’s comments suggest the matter over branding is still to be decided.

The company, 50 per cent owned by Sony itself, already produces Bravia-branded handsets for Japan, taking the name from its parent firm’s line of high-end TVs, and already uses the Walkman and Cybershot logo on other phones, a move that has reportedly help the company double margins in the last three years.

    desc

Check out the Sony Ericsson P1i, the thinner version of the P990i. Now, the P1i has all the goodies you would want on a smartphone, including HSDPA support and 802.11g WiFi. If you look at it, it could be a great little competitor to the Nokia N95 except for the lack of GPS functionality.

At 17mm thin, the P1i is a smaller brick compared to the 25mm P990i. Also, the P1i supports MemoryStick Micro (M2) - a 1GB card is bundled with the device. The P1i supports QVGA resolution, offering 262k colors. There’s also a 3.2 megapixel camera (with 3x digital zoom) on board the P1i. Compatible with GSM 900/1800/1900MHz networks, the phone weighs in at 124 grams. Entertainment options on the P1i are plenty, including 3D games, video streaming and radio. 300px-Nokia_N95_DarlaMackFlickr.jpgEver wondered how many units Nokia has sold? Well, today, Nokia confirmed that it has sold over 100 million cellphones this spring, solidifying its dominance of the global cellphone business. The results for this year is significantly higher than the result of last year by 29 percent. This growth was attributed to its dominance in smartphone sales. Over 9 million N-series and 2 million E-series were sold. Their front line phone is the Nokia N95 smartphone.

This result placed Nokia ahead of Samsung, Motorola, Sony-Ericsson and LG. Apple on the other hand, with its iPhone, needs to catch up with this mobile phone giants. Apple chief Steve Jobs projected that the company will sell about 10 million iPhones by the end of 2008, or about 1 percent of the market as it was in 2006.

But experts predict that Apple will play a major role in the market with their iPhone. “The iPhone is likely to have a disproportionately large impact on the industry,” IDC mobile director Shiv Bakhshi said. “It could forever alter the structural relationship between device vendors and mobile operators who have traditionally controlled the mobile environment, especially in the US.”

    HBH-DS980

Sony Ericsson’s HBH-DS980 Bluetooth Stereo Headset just got the FCC’s seal of approval. The headset allows you to enjoy audio wirelessly from a compatible cell phone or your computer. If using with a phone, the music automatically stops playing when a call is received and will resume once the call is disconnected.

The HBH-DS980 supports a plethora of Bluetooth profiles, including:

    • Handsfree
    • Headset
    • Advanced Audio Distribution
    • Audio/Video Remote Control
    • PhoneBook Access

The arrangement of keys on this headset are a bit different: the music key is on the top, while next/previous track and volume control keys are on opposite sides. So watch out if you are trying to increase volume and keep switching to the next track instead.

    Sony Ericsson K700i spy phone

    Sony%20Ericsson%20K700i%20spy%20phone1.jpg

SpyCatcher is a popular UK online store that sells spying devices, and one of them is the Sony Ericsson K700i Spy Phone. As the name suggests, this is a device that even James Bond would like to have, but I don’t think he ever used something similar.

Anyway, the working mode of the K700i is simple:

    - place the cellphone near whoever you want to spy, like a room for example
    - dial the hidden number, obviously you are the only one who knows it
    - listen to whatever people are talking, thanks to the built-in microphone on the fake K700i

Imagine all the spying possibilities that you can create for only ?140 (close to $280). On the other hand, pay attention and check if someone is spying you.

    newsonyericssonphones.jpg

Photos of the latest Sony Ericsson clamshell mobile phones are finally out. The newest editions to Sony Ericsson’s arsenal of phones - the Z320i, Z250i, and Z750i - all sport small, sleek clamshell form factors and updated features.

The Z320i and Z250i are the smaller two phones of the trio, slightly shorter, but also thicker than the Z750i. Of the bunch, my favorite is the Z750i available in either shiny metallic silver, blue, or purple.

    Sony HGE-100 GPS Hands-Free Kit

sony_ericsson_gps_accessory.jpgSony Ericsson’s new HGE-100 looks just like your regular hands-free acessory. It actually doubles as a GPS add-on accessory which enables satellite navigation and sport monitoring on compatible Sony Ericsson phones. Just simply plug the small, compact device into the phone’s connector and you should be ready to get out and explore. The software will provide navigation voice and text commands to help you find your way. Another nifty features is it’s ability to use the GPS Enabler as a “personal trainer”. Using the ‘Tracker’ GPS application the phone can monitor speed, distance, and calorie burn, then record and analyze data. The HGE-100 GPS Enabler will be available in the Q3 of 2007 near a retail price of ?70.

    Sony K530 3G phone

    Sony K530 3G phone

This is not a true converged device, but it’s close. The new Sony Ericsson K530 cell phone and its companion the HGE-100 GPS Enabler combine to form a useful navigation system.

The idea behind the separate phone attachment seems to do more with battery life than anything else: just plug in the HGE-100 when you need, and your battery lasts a bit longer. But the HGE-100 goes beyond that: it also acts as the phone’s stereo headset.

The K530 phone itself is available in a slim 14mm package. A 3G phone, you can conveniently browse the web on it. The 2″ screen leaves a little to be desired, as does the 2 megapixel camera with 2.5x digital zoom.

The phone supports Java games. You can also buy music with the PlayNow service. For additional entertainment, there’s an FM radio on-board. Both the K530 and HGE-100 are expected in Q3 2007.

    Sony W910 Walkman Phone

    Sony W910 Walkman Phone

Sony Ericsson unveiled its latest Walkman phone, the Sony Ericsson W910 Walkman, that apparently redefines music on the mobile. With HSDPA support, this phone offers you high speed internet access and all the goodies of a Walkman phone - superior quality audio playback, 3D games and the lot.

The W910 comes with an updated Media Manager to transfer videos/photos/music from and to your phone. You can shuffle your playlist by shaking the cell phone, which I guess is liked by a lot of people.

The phone also features the latest version of PlayNow (version 4.0) mobile download service - allowing you access to tons of music from Sony BMG. You can purchase tracks right on your phone after sampling the tracks.

Sony Ericsson also offers a 1GB Memory Stick Micro with the phone. Available in Hearty Red (in picture) and Noble Black, expect it to hit the markets in Q4 2007.

The second phone is the Sony Ericsson Z320, a compact, 1.3 megapixel camera phone ideal for quick captures that you can share later. Available in a clamshell design, it features a retro-look icon display. You can store up to 100 images on the phone.

The K850 on the other hand is more mature, with its integrated media browser and intelligent search for accessing photos.
