13 Mar 10 Qualcomm Files Patent for Multi-Fold Display Mobile Device

Qualcomm Multi-Fold Display PatentWe are aware that there are a lot of foldable phones out there but it looks like Qualcomm has something up its sleeve. They have filed a new patent for a multi-fold mobile device which allows users to fold and unfold it resulting in a tablet-form like device.

The device features a processor that will execute at least one software application with a graphical interface and would respond to the folding configuration sensor. However, one fallback is that this device would be quite thick which may not really appeal to consumers going for smaller phones out in the market today. Give it time though as technology has a way to convert such things in transition.

13 Mar 10 Celsius X VI II Remontage Papillon Phone

Celsius X VI II Remontage Papillon Phone The age of mobile phones has indeed become complex and for sure, the mechanical means of providing effective communication is something one would see in the past. But perhaps for the Celsius X VI II Remontage Papillon Phone, it is more of the design that becomes appealing rather than the mobile phone intent itself.

The Celsius X VI II carries a transparent look where you can see the mechanism operate. Influenced by the features of a tourbillion watch, this mechanical concept phone may not necessarily be ideal in today’s modern mobile phone age. A collector’s item would be the best thing this device could come but it doesn’t come cheap. Would you shell out $275,000 for a medieval running phone?

13 Mar 10 RIM to build BlackBerry Curve 8520 in Brazil

blackberry_logoIn the past weeks there have been more rumors about RIM – Research In Motion – and their need to build a BlackBerry smartphone in Brazil, and yesterday that rumor was confirmed.

With that being said, RIM will work in cooperation with Flextronics and build a manufacturing plant in Brazil, to manufacture the BlackBerry Curve 8520. Taking in consideration that RIM already has a plant in Mexico, it seems like they are interested in investing in South America.

13 Mar 10 LG Cosmos VN250

lg-cosmos-vn250Cosmos VN250 is the codename of the new QWERTY smartphone made by LG to include in the Verizon catalog.

In terms of features, the Cosmos VN250 is very similar to the Rumor2 (from Sprint) which means it will feature a 2-inch display, a slot for microSD memory cards, a port for microUSB, and a 4-row QWERTY keyboard plus a numpad.

At the moment there is no information about the price of the LG Cosmos VN250 but we do know it won’t require a data plan.

12 Mar 10 Milestone gets Android 2.1 in Bulgaria

moto-milestone-smThere has been a lot of indicators that Motorola Milestone would be running Android 2.1, and we have learned that Bulgaria will be the first to get it.

Bulgaria’s leading carrier, Vivacom, will be selling the Motorola Milestones with Android 2.1 on March 20th. Many have speculated that Bulgaria is only the beginning, and it will be only a matter of time before Android 2.1 gets a bigger European rollout. I suppose we shall see.

You can see from the video how the game is played, which will allow the user to “tap, tilt and shake the screen to help Fat Chick bounce his considerable bulk off clouds and ever higher.” Get it while it’s free, or be forced to pay $0.99 for it.

12 Mar 10 HP’s new “Let’s Do Amazing” campaign

What you are seeing here in the above video is a new ad campaign from HP called “Let’s Do Amazing”. It is essentially a way of introducing the HP brand to consumers.

The man that you see in the ad is Rhys Darby, a New Zealand actor who appeared on the Flight of the Conchords BBC radio series. If you want, you can see him with Dr. Dre in the next video after the jump.

So, what do you think? Is this money well spent to promote their laptops and other products?

12 Mar 10 Unreal Engine, now on WebOS!

unreal-webos-101-top

We have previously reported how the Unreal Gaming Engine was running on the iPhone, and it is now running on webOS.

So if you have a Palm, you might be able to run some really cool games in speeds of up to 1 fps. I suppose that this should give mobile gaming a boost, won’t it?

So what’s next for the Unreal gaming engine? A trip down iPad lane? I’m guessing yes. It will probably look pretty impressive there.

12 Mar 10 Make Jailbreaking easy with the iDongle

500x_idongleI realize that iPhone users love their jailbroken devices, and now, freeing your iPhone from the Apple code is even simpler with the iDongle.

The iDongle plugs right into the iPhone port, but it won’t jailbreak it just with plugging it in alone. It is “an easy hack”, but only available for the 3.12 iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 2G/3G.

Well, as you can see by its crude design, there is only a few of them available. The developer only has a few of them now, but is looking for more money to mass-produce these things.

12 Mar 10 Apple iPad Pre-Orders Start at 5:30 AM PST

And if Apple stays true to its word, pre-orders would be taken in today at 5:30 AM PST. 11 Mar 10 Verizon 4G LTE Handsets Coming in 2011

Verizon Wireless Logo4G networks have been incrementally going up so the next thing that you would expect would be new 4G capable handsets available in the market. Apparently Verizon Wireless is making sure that they will not be left out, announcing that they will be unveiling their first 4G handset by the middle of 2011.

Verizon’s first handsets will use two chips to allow the device to operate on 4G and 3G networks. However one big issue that people would want to consider is the cost of data on the faster networks. Should this happen, it could signal the end of unlimited data plans in America. And on that note, metered pricing may come forth to cover new network installation costs.
