The Nokia 6700 Classic made its debut all the way back in January but at the time of its announcement, it wasn’t exactly the nicest looking phone on the market. Luckily, that has been remedied by the Nokia 6700 Classic Gold Edition, pictured above.
This device features the same specs as the normal 6700 Classic but features an 18-carat gold finish and a special wallpaper to go along with it.
Of course, it’s not going to be too cheap at €370 or $550 when it drops early next year but that’s to be expected considering it is gold.

So the folks out at Puremobile sent me a Nokia 6790 to have a look at, and sure enough, it’s another decent quality Nokia out of them. About the worst thing you can do with this one is, interestingly, damn with faint praise.
See, the Nokia 6790 comes with a lot of interesting addons–there’s a GPS feature, an FM radio, web browser, XM radio, music player, shopping attachments and a whole lot more that I couldn’t use because once again the phone needs to be network connected. Ironically, the FM radio didn’t need a network connection, but what it DID need was a set of headphones with a smaller jack than I had.
So, yay.
But lest you think you showed up for a review of nothing, there were still plenty of features I could try out, including the two megapixel camera, which worked nicely and easily, a notepad and voice recorder that went well, an awesome converter feature that I probably would’ve beaten a few people soundly for that’ll convert most any measurement from one kind to another, and a panoply of game demos including Guitar Hero and Monopoly, both of which were terribly fun.
But still, considering that this sucker retails for three hundred and twenty bucks over at Puremobile, you might want to go ahead and have a look around at other models. This one just doesn’t have what some of the others do, and some of them do it for less.

RoadPilot is a popular company in Europe that manufacturers a GPS radar that is capable of detecting and alerting speed camera detectors. They just launched a new version called RoadPilot Mobile that works with Nokia software, but in the near future there will be more devices supporting the application, like Samsungs and Sony Ericssons.
The usefulness of the RoadPilot Mobile is being able to alert the driver in real time about where are the speed cameras or police cars. This version of Road Pilot supports the following Nokia devices: N95, N95 8GB, N78, N79, N82, N85, N96, E66, E71, E75, 6110 Navigator, 6210 Navigator and the 6220 Classic.

While the Nokia 5530 is certainly a good device that many people praise, it also has its disadvantages and negative points.
The folks at Nokia blog decided to create a “definitive bug list” of the device and here are some of the points:
- the button to control the volume is hard to press and provide feedback;
- annoying messaging bug;
- infrequent random reboots;
- browser crashes due to certain websites;
So, do you own a Nokia 5530 XpressMusic cellphone and feel any of these symptoms?

Here is a crazy idea from a French designer named Clement Logereau. Called the Nokia Unik concept phone, it is made up of 152 small squares which allows the handset to transform itself by adding a new square that is different in material and color. The squares can be added after purchase from Nokia Stores which come in a variety of “square” types (metal, transparent and rubber). While the concept does seem interesting, a few more tweaks may be needed for this Nokia Unik Concept Phone to take out its concept tag. What do you think?

Listen here, Bell customers, our friends over at MobileSyrup have recently gotten word that the Nokia N97 is expected to hit the carrier on December 10th.
While this is just a rumor at this point, our sources are pretty confident that it will pan out true. Unfortunately, we have no word on what price to expect if/when the Nokia N97 does drop.

The phone in the picture here is only a concept phone but it’s definitely worth checking out. Designed by Juan Carlos Garzon, the phone features a translucent display which will offer you a unique mobile experience. The phone comes with a touchscreen interface, a five megapixel camera, LED support and a lot of smartphone-like features.
The Nokia transparent phone in the picture definitely looks like something that we might see in the near future. As you already know Sony Ericsson has a similar concept, the Xperia Pureness, which also comes with a translucent display and it’s working on a Pureness 2. Maybe a smartphone with a touchscreen transparent display is just around the corner.

The smartphone market is looking pretty good, don’t you think? With the iPhone, Android 2.0, and all other advancements, you would think that Nokia would increase the number of its smartphones.
However, this isn’t what the company is doing. In fact, it announced that it will “halve production of its smartphones in 2010″. Say what? Okay, I just don’t see why an cell phone company would do that, unless…they intend to corner the mid to low range phone market. After all, there are people who do not want smartphones. Hard to believe, but there still is that crowd.

When you hear about clones, imitations or class A phones or accessories, you can be sure that they come from China. And it seems the latest clone that has come out is a dead ringer for the Nokia E72. This Nokia E72 clone comes with an array of features such as a TV tuner, dual SIM card slots, QWERTY keypad and a rear and front facing 1.3 megapixel camera. The difference? The interface is a whole lot different from the authentic Nokia E72. Would anyone care? For authentic Nokia mobile phone hunters it definitely matters!

Nokia has just released the Qt 4.6 which is their latest version of a cross-platform application and also an user-interface framework. As you can imagine, the Qt 4.6 makes it easy to develop new applications, and the usability of those apps and the cellphone in general is also better.
In terms of new features, the Qt 4.6 is able to support more platforms, including the Symbian, Windows 7, Apple Mac OS 10.6, and Meomo 6.
An interesting and also new detail is the ability to create multi-touch applications
Sebastian Nystrom of Nokia, comments:

We’d like to see Nokia focus more on creating smartphone ready to compete against the iPhone, the Motorola Droid or the HTC HD2. Does that mean that we need more megapixels out of the cameras of such phones?
It looks like Nokia is going to launch a new phone dedicated to photography lovers. The N87 is the follower of the N86 and while the latter sported an 8-megapixel camera the new phones will apparently offer us an impressive 12-megapixel shooter.
The new phone isn’t official just yet and we only have some rumored specs at our disposal: 12-megapixel camera, dual LED Xenon flash, Carl Zeiss optics, 480 x 800 resolution touchscreen, 600MHz processor and a dual slider mechanism. What do you say? Anyone excited?

The popular and good Nokia N86 is available at Rogers for a good price, that is, if you opt for the 3-year contract. If that’s the case, the cellphone will only cost you CAD $100.
If that is not the case and you don’t want a contract, get ready to pay CAD $450. As you can imagine, paying $100 for such a good device is certainly a good deal, you’ll end up with a top-notch smartphone that has a 8-megapixel camera (with dual LED flash), a 2.6-inch QVGA OLED display, and good connections such as 3G, WiFi, and GPS.
If you live in Canada this is certainly a good Christmas gift

We’ve talked about the Nokia N900 a few times before, like when it became first available on the US, and when Amazon had it for sale at $480, but now the talk is related to the keyboard of the smartphone.
As you might have notice the Nokia N900 features a very useful full QWERTY keyboard, and to make it work even better + gain some time, Nokia setup plenty of shortcuts that were recently all transcribed from the manual to the web.
Here are some of the shortcuts available on the Nokia N900:
General
* Ctrl + Backspace: From within an application this will take you back out to the visual task manager. (Thanks to Chanse for that one.)
* Ctrl + C: Copy text
* Ctrl + V: Paste text
* Ctrl + X: Cut text
* Ctrl + A: Select all (more…)
