The Nokia World 2007 saw a few more announcements from Nokia, particularly in the area of environmental sustainability. With new initiatives in areas like energy efficiency, materials used in the manufacture of mobile phones and recycling, Nokia announced the new Nokia 3110 Evolve, a mobile phone made from more than 50% renewable material. Available in a small form-factor made of 60% recycled content, Nokia claims that it comes with its most energy efficient charger yet.
The charger uses 94% less energy than Energy Star requirements. One of the first companies to put alerts into its devices, Nokia seems to be on track for a greener world. Let’s hope they (and other manufacturers) succeed.

If for some odd reason you dislike the traditional covers made for cellphones, maybe you want something more natural, like a sock? Well, Nokia is thinking about the same thing, and they came up with the Nokia Socks CP-221.
Instead of the high-tech looks that most covers offer, the new Nokia accessory can be resumed to two words: simply socks. One of the negative points is that you won’t be able to use the cellphone while it is being protected from dust and scratches inside the sock, but on the other hand, it is hard to have something more fashionable than this.

Look what was snooping around the FCC’s hallowed halls. The Nokia BH-903 Bluetooth stereo headphone was recently approved, so it should be on its way to the markets soon. An interesting thing about the headset is its built-in FM radio. Why not a satellite radio, you might ask. Nokia claims that on a full charge, the device offers up to 15 hours of talk time, 250 hours of standby time, 15 hours of music playback and 15 hours of radio. Pair it with your mobile device using the universal secret code , “0000″.

WeatherBug announced a web app optimized for iPhone and iPod touch devices, giving users access to streaming weather conditions as well as the ability to view daily-updated video weathercasts. The weather app already available on the iPhone is nice, but the WeatherBug app gives much more information. Apart from a 7-day forecast, you get camera images from WeatherBug’s network of tracking stations. You can also set a variety of locations for multiple cities and scroll through current conditions and even live camera images for each one.
WeatherBug claims that its weather info is unmatched when it comes to the depth and granularity of information. I’m pretty sure the app runs happily on the Nokia N95 as well, just so you know you don’t have to buy an iPhone to use it.
If you want to see it in action, visit the Moscone Convention Center at the CTIA 2007 between October 23-25, 2007.
