Pics of the Nokia 6205

Nokia 6205a.jpeg

The yet-to-be officially announced Nokia 6205 could be seen with these photos. The Nokia 6205 will be an entry-level handset exclusively for Verizon Wireless. There is not much known information about the Nokia 6205 just yet, although the handset will reportedly feature 1x data and no EV-DO, external music controls, and basic VGA camera with flash. Since the images on the screen look small, Phone Arena surmises that it probably doesn’t have QVGA resolution. In all, the clamshell Nokia 6205 seems to be a very basic (hopefully) low-end phone.

  • 175px-Nokian_logo.svg.pngHow about getting your traffic reports on the go? Imagine driving through the interstate and checking your phone for the best route - with less traffic - to your destination. Well, you can probably do that as Nokia and ARC Transistance, the European network of automobile clubs, has gone into talks to provide users with real-time traffic information. This is said to be included in the new Nokia Maps 2.0, and in future versions of Nokia Maps.

With this integration, drivers will be alerted of traffic jams and conditions. This could probably shorten travel time and could result in a much safer for travel for citizens. When Nokia Maps receives the road updates from ARC Transistance, the application can dynamicly re-route during navigation and provide a faster route. This is a significant milestone for Nokia Maps, which makes navigation an even more compelling experience for Nokia device owners.

  • Nokia has just announced the inclusion of Sony BMG songs in their (future) roster of music in the Nokia Comes with Music, music-centric project. Anybody who buys a Nokia Comes With Music-compatible device when the project is launched later on this 2008, will be given access to the Nokia Music Store for an entire year, allowing them to download any Sony BMG music into their Nokia Comes With Music devices and computers.

Of course, consumers can keep their downloaded music for good, and even transfer them to other devices (otherwise, what’s the point?). After that first year, consumers are given the option of buying new tracks or subscribing for unlimited downloadables.

Watch out for the official launch of Nokia Comes With Music on the second half of 2008.

  • Nokia XpressMusic 5320

Nokia is getting its hands dirty in the music business. • XpressMusic5220

While the 5320 XpressMusic looks poised to be the flagship model in Nokia’s musicphone lineup, the 5220 XpressMusic seems destined to fill the low-end gap in the same line. Nokia aims to cater the budget-minded music aficionado with the 5220 but with an unusual and fancy-looking design, which it calls “symmetric.” Other than the lanyard, there is also a much-welcomed 3.5mm audio jack and a semi-hi-fi audio chip that is also used in the 5320. The phone offers up a staggering 24 hours of nonstop playback, which is great for those long trips on the subway or just a lazy afternoon of soothing soul.

The 5220 XpressMusic phone is expected to retail at $255 and will be available in the third quarter of 2008.

  • Nokia 6212The much awaited Nokia 6212 classic, featuring Near-Field Communication (NFC) is finally here. It’s a 3G handset that not only lets you access web services and share content but also use the phone as your wallet - conduct payments and ticketing right from the device. Expect the device to ship in Q3 of 2008.

And it’s not just payments that you can use the phones for: two users can conveniently exchange business cards, calendar notes or what not by simply tapping their handsets together. Sure, you could do the same with Bluetooth, but that requires pairing the devices and so on. I don’t know what’s different with NFC, though - I guess I have to wait like everyone else for the phone to hit the markets.

You can also share photos and videos by tapping an NFC-capable phone and pairing with a Bluetooth NFC-enabled device. The new Nokia BH-210 headset with NFC also allows users to access all functions with a single multifunction key. Fitted with a 2-inch display, a 2 megapixel camera and stereo FM radio, it supports microSD memory cards for added memory.

Priced at €200 before taxes and subsidies, it will hit Europe and Asia by Q3 of ‘08.

An as-yet unnamed Nokia mobile phone has made its appearance at the FCC. The phone, which carries the FCC ID RM451 (and is referred by the same name in the phone user manual), is approved for use on the EGSM 900, GSM 1800 and 1900 networks. It supports WAP 2.0 protocols including HTTP and SSL. It also supports MMS, email, instant messaging, presence enhanced contacts and remote synchronization.

The Nokia RM451 also includes 1GB of internal memory. It supports the Nokia Xpress audio messaging application, as well as the ability to create Flash messages. Flash messages are text messages that are instantly displayed upon receipt. Note that these messages are not automatically saved into the SMS application’s Inbox.

The phone also supports Bluetooth. Tons of profiles are supported, including: SIM access, object push, file transfer, dial-up networking, headset, hands-free, service discovery application, generic access, serial port, and generic object exchange. No name, no word on the availability or pricing. But the phone looks stylish enough, so I won’t be surprised if it is one of Nokia’s fashion phones.

  • Nokia Tube iPhone Killer

tube.jpgApple created history by unveiling iPhone last year. Now the work of other companies begins. Looking at the successful launch of the Apple iPhone, now Nokia is on its way to bring forth the Nokia Tube Phone. Although Nokia has been the leader in the cellular industry for some time, with the launch of the Apple iPhone, it seems like Nokia’s position got a bit affected.

Nokia has been pondering over the success of iPhone. The reasons for the success of iPhone may be pre-launch hype due to free publicity, followed by the buzzing launch and the after launch discussions over the flaws. It is not just the case with Nokia, almost all companies in the world are thinking not overtly but covertly to bring forward such a sensational product. LG Vu seems like another copy of the iPhone, but poor one.

As per the reports, Nokia Vice President Tom Libretto, speaking yesterday at the Evans Data Developer Relations Conference in Redwood City, Calif., said the proposed phone, code-named Tube, will support Java and allow photos to be uploaded.

Regarding the challenge iPhone has given Nokia and other device makers, Farrar said that the “iPhone has not been a headache at all for us, and it actually validates our current strategy with converged devices in our N and E series.”

Nokia7070a.jpgA cut in the price doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style and design. Among the four new low-end Nokia phones just unveiled is the more affordable model of the Nokia Prism line, the Nokia 7070. In spite of the difference in price, the Nokia 7070 does not look that much difference from its high-end counterparts. It also lets you personalize your phone completely, supplying you with various themes and wallpapers, and can support MP3 ringtones. It also features an integrated hands-free speaker and voice recorder. All that for only approximately $80. Eighty bucks! A steal, right?
