Motorola’s followup to the A1600 MING, the MING 2, has finally cleared the FCC hurdle. This Linux-based clamshell retains the same design as the original A1600 but with a few improvements. Motorola has thrown in a 3.2 megapixel camera and quad-band EDGE, and although there is no mention of it in the FCC documents, the A1600 is supposed to have WiFi too. Other than that, it packs a radio, Bluetooth, and micro-USB support.

The phone sadly shies away from the States but if you are still inclined to own it, you should know that the phone will work in the US with its worldband radio.

From what we can see in this leaked picture, Kodak will manufacture cameras for new Motorola cell phones. The ZN5 might be the first Motorola phone to have a 5 megapixel camera built in.

If it’s true this is certainly a bold move for both Motorola and Kodak too. Sony’s Cybershot phones are good cameras right? The iPhone is the most chosen camera according to Flickr users and Nokia is close behind. It was time Motorola did something like this in order to have a fighting chance. This move will benefit Kodak as well since cell phones aren’t just cell phones anymore.

If it’s not true maybe Kodak will get inspired by it to enter Motorola’s world

I am not a huge fan of slider phones, but I have to admit I took more than 5 minutes to check the new 3G Motorola Z8m out. This slider is a little bit special than its competition in terms of design. It’s meant to adjust to the shape of your face. I don’t know if this feature will really influence the quality of our phone calls but it certainly is really innovative at least. The Z8m is the third Z8 version and will be launched in Korea. The starting price is somewhere around $500.

This is what the new edition of Motorola Z8 has to offer: the upgraded HSDPA - from 3.2 to 7.2Mbps, the regular QVGA 2.2 inch display and the 2 megapixel camera. There’s of course the one touch MP3 player, the Bluetooth and USB 2.0 for data transfers and integrated and very useful GPS systems. As for space you have an 80MB internal memory available to start from and as you go along getting more pictures and music, the micro SD option that lets you store up to 4GB of data.

What could you possible want more from Motorola? A drop in price maybe.

Equipped with a 2.6-inch display featuring 240X400 pixels and 16:9 contrast ratio, this chic cell phone is expected to attract young customers. The Motorola VE75 Phone features Bluetooth, dual SIM technology and a 2 Megapixel camera. It will offer some multimedia stuff as well. The capability to support two SIM cards will make it a hit all over.

After Motorola split into two companies, the company has announced the release of its sleek new 3G phone called the Motorola Z8m in Seoul. Motorola aims to expand its line of 3G-enabled phones and it seems the Motorola Z8m is only the first in the new list of handsets. The phone is a kick-slider, which means that it’s a slider phone with an angled hinged at the center so that the phone sits closer to the surface.

The Motorola Z8M 3G phone has a 2.2-inch LCD QVGA screen, expandable memory (up to 4GB), Bluetooth connectivity, a 2-megapixel camera with 5x digital zoom, USB 2.0 connection, and navigation function. Unfortunately, the 3G Motorola Z8m is only available in the Korea market through SK Telecoms for US$500.

Motorola has recently announced its all new Z8m, a 3G Phone in Korea. This third generation slider cell phone is very interesting to talk. This new 3G HSDPA mobile phone was exhibited at the Millennium Seoul Hilton Hotel.

Don’t you just love the internet? Cell phone leaks wouldn’t have been possible otherwise. One of most recent cell phone model leakage is Motorola’s model code name “Texel.” Texel, called Motorola E10, is part of the ROKR series and reportedly comes with a touch screen, 3 megapixel camera, and 3G connection. The pic above came from a forum. If you think it’s a match with the leaked photo of the Texel’s presentation, then this might just be the handset’s first spotting. Not bad when it comes to looks, if I might say. I’m not sure if it can rescue Motorola’s dying business. In order to do so, I believe it has to comes up with something truly earth shattering. And while this handset might look good, it doesn’t seem to offer something other handsets and manufacturers can’t.

During the CTIA Wireless, Motorola announced that the MOTO Z9 slider phone exclusively for AT&T in the USA will be the first handset to feature AT&T Navigator. It’s a service which enables a GPS navigation system on the device. MOTO Z9 features 3G connection, CyrstalTalk technology, 2 megapixel camera, expandable microSD card of up to 8GB, Bluetooth connectivity, and an MP3 player. MOTO Z9 is available for $249.99 with a two-year contract.

Motorola released its newest brand of in-car phone, the Motorola Smart Rider. It comes with a 2.8-inch color display for optimal display of maps. It features a GPS navigation which makes it perfect for those who don’t have a dedicated vehicle navigation system. It can also be voice activation, and be used wirelessly via Bluetooth connection. Its GPS capability has voice-guide driving instructions and turn by turn navigation, which could hopefully help people with no sense of direction, like myself. Motorola’s Smart Rider will be available starting June of 2008.

The U.S. division of Motorola recently announced two exciting models MOTO QTM 9c in licorice and MOTO QTM 9c lime as a part of the summer collection. Both the handsets help the users both in their personal and professional arenas. Users can now choose the color of the smartphone matching their personality.

Last February, Motorola sent feelers that the company’s going to split into two. A month later, due to Carl Icahn’s agitation over Motorola’s slow sales, the company decided to split into two — the Mobile Devices unit and the Broadband & Mobility Solutions unit. If you remember, Motorola fell into a slump after people’s interest on the erstwhile immensely popular RAZR phones waned. As expected, reactions on what transpired varied. There are those who said that splitting the company was necessary so Motorola could save itself by partnering with foreign companies, while there are those who foresee a disaster since the mobile unit, according to them, needs a solid business attached to its name. How stocks would be divided and if there would be a renaming of the company is not yet known, but I reckon we’ll find out in the coming months.

Next in line with touch-screen mobile devices is Motorola. Its latest Mobile TV device, the DH02, is a personalized TV/multimedia entertainment center featuring a touch-screen interface along with navigation capabilities. The DH02 features a click, drag and scroll icon-based menus. With support for HSDPA/GPRS support, operators can deliver rich services to their customers.

The phone supports DVB-H TV with PVR capabilities, including live pause and frame grabbing, as well as GPS and Tele Atlas map views. The hi-res WQVGA display lets you enjoy video at 25 frames-per-second. The DH02 supports microSD memory cards for storing user-generated content.

Obviously, it has Bluetooth capabilities as well. No word on the pricing yet, but you can catch the DH02 in action at CTIA Wireless 2008.

It was July 2007 when we got to hear of the Motorola Z9 slider first. But it seems Moto’s got a lot on their plate to have reached a year before we see some action on the Moto Z9. As you can see on the pics above and below after the jump, the Motorola Z9 slider phone comes with a 2.4-inch color display, 2 megapixel camera with flash and 8x digital zoom, expandable microSD card slot of up to 8GB, 45MB internal memory, dedicated music keys, A-GPS support, USB 2.0 connectivity, HSDPA support, and Windows Media 11 music manager. No word of price or availability yet, but trust Motorola to make us wait some more.

Verizon Wireless has recently released the new Motorola Z6cx World Edition Phone. If you’re wondering if this new model is related to the Motorola Z6c also by Verizon Wireless, then you’re right. The Motorola Z6cx phone is actually an exact duplicate of the Z6c. The only difference: the Z6cx is stripped of the Z6c’s 2-megapixel camera. This might be Verizon Wireless’s and Motorola’s answer to the need for camera-less phones, as there are venues which prohibit cameras such as workplaces. In spite of the lack of camera, the Motorola Z6cx World Edition Phone still sells for US$179 like the original Z6c after rebate.

Another low-end Motorola W-series cell phone unveiled during CES and showcase in MWC is the Motorola W270. Like the W320, it’s also a music phone, except this one’s a clamshell type. Just like the other phones in the W-series, the Motorola W270 has basic features including support for Hinglish and seven African languages, Motorola’s CrystalTalk technology, FM radio with RDS, adedicated music key for the digital audio player (for iMelody, MIDI, MP3, AMR), a microSD card slot for cards up to 2GB in memory, and GPRS. It’s available this first quarter of 2008, with prices varying per market.

Unveiled on CES last January and showcased on the recently concluded MWC 2008 is Motorola’s new low-end music phone — the Motorola W230. The phone is part of the W-series along with the W161 and the W181. The Motorola W230 is a phone which goes straight to the nitty-gritty. No frills, no added layers of useless fat. In short, it only has basic features. A candybar, it has 1.6” 128 x 128 color screen, 9 hours of talk time, and the CrystalTalk audio technology. It also features support for Hinglish (Hindi + English), as well as seven different African languages. Its main attraction though, is the dedicated music key, which makes digital audio (iMelody, MIDI, MP3, AMR) and FM radio (with RDS) listening easier. The Motorola W230 comes with two color faceplates: manadarin-bordered dark titanium gray and lustrous silver-bordered licorice. It’s now currently available in some countries for around US$50-75, depending upon the market. Yes, that’s 50 to 75 bucks. And that’s not the price after a mail-in rebate either. The phone costs just that, without plans of any sort whatsoever.

Motorola is underway in establishing itself as a leading music provider in Southeast Asia with its acquisition of Soundbuzz. Soundbuzz is by and large considered one of the largest Southeast Asian music provider. Terms of the deal had not been disclosed although it’s very clear that the acquisition implies that Motorola could now offer MotoMusic to a larger audience, extending its reach to the people in the Southeast Asian region.

“Music is the heart and soul of the mobile entertainment experience, and with Soundbuzz as a part of our family, Motorola has the biggest heart and the most soul in mobile music in Asia,” said Ian Chapman-Banks, Vice-President of Mobile Devices Marketing for Motorola Asia-Pacific.

Last month, we reported on the Angstrom Power and Motorola partnership on finding a way to use micro hydrogen as fuel cells for lithium-ion battery replacement. The fuel cells which promised longer battery life were tested on Motorola Slvr L7 phones. Recently, however, Angstrom Powers and Motorola introduced a cell phone prototype powered by hydrogen. A desktop fueling station produces hydrogen from water and stores the particles in a metal hydride storage. These hydrogen molecules will pass through a fuel cell membrane which strips off the electrons to power the phone. Since the hydrogen molecules are procured from water, then finding fuel for the phone is as easy as finding the nearest tap.
