When will Meizu stop copying others and start innovating? Meizu must love the iPhone since it tried to create its own version, the M8. We talked a lot about this iPhone-like phone and I have the feeling we’re going to see more phones coming from Meizu in the future. In the mean time we’ve discovered that Meizu also loves the Pre. According to some leaked photos of the new Meizu M8 UI, the new firmware is based on Palm’s new webOS. And this new firmware is coming out sometime in July or August. That means that all those five current M8 owners will end up with an iPhone-like phone soon that speaks webOS instead of iPhone OS. What do you think, is Meizu on to something? Is it possible to combine Apple and Palm in order to get a better smartphone? Will Optimus Prime like this transformation?

For all those five Meizu M8 owners out there we have some news. Whether is good or bad it’s up to your budget. Upgrading the phone to 3G will cost you anywhere from $190 to $220. The phone will go live sometime next year so you have plenty of time to raise the money to get the new M8.The final price is yet unknown but by the time the M8 3G will be released other hotter phones should be available. The future M8 will offer a 3.6-inch 720 x 480 screen and maybe an Android-based UI.

I can’t wait to get my hands on the Meizu M8 3G in March 2010… NOT! Since the new iPhone is coming out in a couple of days we should check out the next iPhone-like phone that Meizu is working on. As I said, the new handset is the Meizu M8 3G and it’s set to arrive next March. By that time we’re probably going to get ready for the fourth generation iPhone and possibly the next Pre.
But let’s keep looking at the M8 3G. The phone will offer 3G connectivity via TD-SCDMA or WCDMA, a 800Mhz to 1GHz Samsung processor, a 3.5-inch display, a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and 8 to 16GB of storage. Impressive? Not quite really! We could use some new features since the phone is coming out next year. You know, like the ones that haven’t been done before and could inspire a whole new line of cell phones?
To be fair to Meizu, we do acknowledge its effort to produce an outstanding phone, but that’s about all we can do while we wait to see some innovation from their part.

Meizu will not stop with the M8 and the company is actually planning to launch a new version of the phone. The new M8, or M9, or whatever they’re calling it, will come with features like 3G connectivity, GPS and a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash. In other words all the features missing from the first Meizu will make it in the next phone but that shouldn’t impress you. You’ll problem be better off with any other handset.

If you’re not happy with that M8 from Meizu, and why should you, then you might want to try out the M9 which should arrive soon enough. The new model should wear the same firmware that M8 does which means Meizu will take a new approach on the hardware of the M8. The M9 will come in CDMA and TD-SCDMA versions but we have no real specs to play with for now. Would you buy a totally new redesigned Meizu phone?

It looks like the M8 from Meizu is finally available… again. It was available about a week ago but that was a beta version filled with bugs and problems. Nonetheless that was available for sale for $440. Too much you say? Well it’s too expensive even without the bugs. If you didn’t buy the M8 before don’t go buy it now either. You won’t miss a thing. And considering that MWC has revealed at list three worthy phones ready to compete against the iPhone, you might be better of choosing one of those.

Let’s move along people, there’s nothing to see here. The Meizu M8 is probably one of the best iPhone knock offs but that doesn’t mean you should actually get one. Sure Meizu will say that its phone is totally original and what not, but the fact remains that it’s a copy of a different phone. And the M8 seems to be ready to sell for “just” $440. Will anyone venture off to get one? Will we get our money back if we don’t like it? Or we could always get two storms for the price of one…

MP4 Nation has recently gotten their hands on an Meizu M8 and managed to put up a quick video review. I don’t know about you guys but this video is the first I’ve seen of it’s kind that is, being a video I can actually follow and understand and get a general feeling of the phone.
Anyways, check out the video and make a stance on the phone. After watching the video I came to the conclusion that while the phone pretty much mimics the iPhone, if the iPhone didn’t exist by some stretch of the imagination the Meizu M8 probably would have done pretty damn well.

The Meizu M8 might just be an Apple iPhone knock off, but it might also be so much more than that. The Chinese smartphone looks just about ready to be launched. It uses the new 0.9.0.1 firmware which comes with copy and paste, Outlook calendar sync and a full backup system. There’s a published SDK available and a license for the Chinese airwaves. All that might lead to a March release in China. And Meizu seems really confident in its M8:
Let’s bear witness together, to the great moment of MEIZU formally entering the big stage of mobile phone industry!
Will Apple react in any way when the M8 gets released?

If Apple is taking its sweet time to supply Asia with their iPhones, then what is Asia going to do? Well, why not make their own? That would show them. If these pictures of the Meizu M8 is accurate, then Asia could have their own counterpart for Apple’s iPhone. The Meizu M8 looks just like the iPhone in every way, including the fairly unique set of icons for navigation. In fact, the M8 is more Apple than Apple as they’ve opted for a glossy white finish instead of a black one.
These hasn’t been confirmed as of the moment though, but if it is true, this is one sweet device!
In terms of raw specs, the M8 is said to sport standard GSM, TD-SCDMA for 3G data, a 3.3-inch widescreen (720×480) display, Bluetooth, and an ARM11 CPU. What’s more, they’ve upped the ante in the camera department, beating Apple’s picture-taker by one whole megapixel. The 3MP cam on board is also capable of recording video at 30fps (at the device’s full 720 x 480 resolution).

Since the introduction of the Apple iPhone on January the 9th, the world has gone touch pad crazy, touch pad technology is the way of the future and many companies have heard the call and made their own touch pad phones in direct competition with the iPhone. This is a top ten list of iPhone Competitors, some of the phones are the real deal, some are just concepts at the moment, all are cool.
1.
Coming in at Number 1 is the recently announced Samsung F700 ultra slim phone, answering the call early Samsung have come up with a splendid touch pad phone. Main features of the phone include a 5 megapixel camera, touch pad technology, impressive downloads speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps and a cool slide out QWERTY Keyboard, which is something the iPhone is lacking. With their first deluge into touch pad phones Samsung seem to have hit a home run straight of the bat.
2.
The next touchphone coming in at a close Second is the LG KE850, this touch phone has actually been around for quite some time and is a smash hit in South Korea. It is widely believed amongst industry experts Apple based there design model around this phone. The phone features a 3-inch LCD touch screen display and 2 megapixel camera. The phone will be about $750. Any maybe available in Europe and America soon.
3.

At Number Three we see the Nokia Aeon Concept Phone. This phone is just a concept phone and not currently available to the consumer, it has been around for a very long time. Obviously Nokia was onto to touch phone technology from the very early stages, their long term research and studying into the technology, may see them if not in the form of the Aeon bring out a very advanced touch phone some time soon that will be available to consumers. If that happens you could probably elevated Nokia to Number Two iPhone competitor on this list.

Chinese mobile manufacturer Meizu is responding to the claims that their new M8 phone is a cheap knock-off of the Apple iPhone. Apparently, they are claiming that the original M8 design debuted four days before MacWorld when Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone. They do aknowledge, however, that the design was tweaked after the iPhone was revealed, slimming it down, adding some metallics, and some other minor changes. Now, whether this is true or not, I guess we’ll be kept wondering.

While everyone is sitting around waiting for the acclaimed Apple iPhone to be released months from now, the Chinese company Meizu has come up with a phone that is strikingly similar in appearance to the iPhone - the Meizu M8 PMP/Phone. From the design of the phone, to the style of the user interface, the M8 just screams iPhone wannabe. I guess we shouldn’t be surprised though, this was bound to happen sooner or later. Chinese companies are known for ripping of US designs, and often times there is very little that the US company can do to prevent them from profiting off their designs.

Some of the major differences the Meizu M8 has from theiPhone is a white case instead of black one, it runs off WinCE 6.0 instead of the Mac platform the iPhone runs off of, and it has a camera (which the iPhone does not). The dimensions of the Meizu M8 are 57×105x11.5mm. It includes a beautiful 3.3-inch (720×480 pixels) display, Bluetooth, a 3-megapixel camera, TV-out, line in/out, and video recording capabilities of 30fps at 720×480 resolution. The phone supports GSM networks and has the Chinese TD-SCDMA 3G radio.
There’s been no word on pricing, but I am betting that it will be the iPhone prices by a long-shot. With the more common operating system and inclusion of a digital camera, the Meizu M8 may give the Apple iPhone a run for its money. Apple lawyers and executives can’t be too pleased right now.
