LG KF700 Cell Phone at the MWC

LG-KF700z.jpgLG showcased a number of mobile phones in Mobile World Congress this year including the LG-KF600, LG Viewty, LG-KF510, and the LG-KS20; all of which we’ve already featured before. One we haven’t yet, however, is the LG KF700 slider cell phone. The LG KF700 is a multi-media phone; the first in the world to have three different input methods. These are the 3″ touch screen, shortcut dial, and alphanumeric keypad.

Our consumers told us that they wanted a phone that had plenty of multimedia features, but doesnt take a long time fiddling with menus to figure out. We created the LG-KF700 based their insight, said Dr. Skott Ahn, CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. Internal research showed that a phones multimedia features often lay dormant if they are hard to access. On many phones these features are hidden deep in menus, requiring too much time and effort to find them. The LG-KF700 eliminates these endless menus with its intuitive interface and multiple input methods.

These three input methods could work together to make the easiest intuitive phone available. The LG KF700 is a 3G phone with HSDPA support, plus, it has a full-featured web browser, allowing you computer-like access to web sites. It also features a 3-megapixel camera, MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity, and MP4 video player. The model will first be available in Europe on March, 2008, followed by other markets in the following months to come.

LG’s KU990, otherwise going by the more popular name of Viewty, just got a whole lot better. While other phones are still grappling with VGA resolution video recording, the Viewty one-ups it all with a new update providing video recording in DivX format at a whopping 120 frames per second and a resolution of 640×480 using its 5-megapixel camera. This would mean that the videos can be played directly on a big variety of DivX devices including DVD players and PMPs. The older Viewty models, which kicked the crap out of the iPhone in Europe, will get some sort of a software update while the newer ones will come with the function preloaded.

The Viewty is already available in most of the European countries. Go get one for around $518.

    LG KT610 Cell Phone

    LGlogo.jpg

Expect a lot more “first evers” this Mobile World Congress as Sony Ericsson took its first ever plunge into Windows Mobile realm and now with LG testing Symbian waters. The KT610 runs on Symbian OS 9.2 and S60 3rd Edition with Feature Pack 1 (why not FP2?). We couldn’t get our hands on a picture but according to the press report, it is a “stylish” candy bar with a QWERTY keypad hidden underneath a 2.4-inch VGA flip screen display. Other specs revealed include HSDPA at 3.6Mbps, GPS, push email, and a “suite” of multimedia applications. That’s about it for now but as always, we’ll keep you posted as more details emerge.

  • LG CE110 Cell Phone

    CE110_lg.jpg

The year 2008 started with many major cell phone companies announcing entry-level mobile phones including Nokia and Sony Ericsson. LG makes the list now with its new CE110 clamshell, ready to premiere on AT&T this year. It carries the usual array of features fit enough for a low-end mobile but adds a bit of instant messaging flavor with support for AIM and Live Messengers and a VGA camera to boot. There is also a full-duplex speakerphone and AT&T’s very own MediaNet along with support for email. Connectivity tops out with Bluetooth and EDGE supporting dual-Band 850/1900 MHz frequency.

The LG CE110 is available on AT&T at a listed price of $189.99 for a two-year contract.

  • Remember the LG KF600 phone? Yup, the one with the InteractPad technology which enables the user to have two screens in one? It seems LG is using it as a vehicle to conquer the emerging economy mobile phone market. While other cell phone companies such as Nokia and Samsung have low-end options available to the rest of the world at large, LG says they cannot compete with those models and have to settle competing in the US$300 mobile phone market (which, if I may say, isn’t that expensive for developing countries nowadays due to the USD depreciation).

“What we want now is to reap stable and strong profits by aggressively promoting premium phones in emerging markets where `price’ is the sole strategy for a bigger presence,” said Skott Ahn, CEO of LG’s mobile communications unit.

From the sound of that, it seems LG’s preparing to increase their reach this 2008. The LG KF600 will be released Southeast Asia, Middle East, Turkey and Mexico. Arriba!

  • LG VX3200 (CDMA) Phone

    LG-VX3200.jpg
LG has loosed another CDMA phone called the VX3200 and it is available at a throwaway price of $144.99 from MobileBee. Not much to speak of on the features side except that it is compatible with AMPS 800/CDMA 800/1900 networks and has a 65k color internal display, speakerphone, and voice-activated dialing. Just the kind of a phone to simply talk on.

  • LG-KE850silver.jpg

After the landslide success of the original black LG Prada (LG-KE850), the handset in question selling more than 700,000 units despite the high-end price of 600 Euro per, LGE is releasing a the LG Prada Phone with QWERTY keypad, silver edition. The stylish touch screen phone would come with silver accessories such as a leather case with Prada logo, the package box and a pair of earphones. The silver edition will be released simultaneously in 18 European countries. Sleek and stylish — who wouldn’t say no? We like.

  • LG U830 3G Phone

LGU830Open.jpgThe U830 is the follow up to the original LG Chocolate, the KG800. That phones slider format has been replaced by a flip design, but still has the black and silver colouring and touch control buttons for music playback.

The LG U830 is a 3G handset and it supports HSDPA. As a flip phone the LG U830 does itself no favours by being somewhat large in its closed position. It is 49mm wide both opened and closed, 98mm tall when closed. When you flip it up that 98mm becomes 180mm, which is pretty sizeable.

The camera has also been hiked from 1.3 megapixels to a more respectable two and despite occasionally suffering from over exposure, the photo quality is decent enough.

Internal memory has been given a welcome boost, but LG has again neglected to include a memory card slot. The rise from 128MB to 180MB is encouraging, but this still limits the potential of the music player. 180MB wont hold many tunes and dont forget you will have to share this with other multimedia gubbins.

  • LG U8500 Phone

    LGE.jpg

The LG-U8500/U880 is a super-slim 3G music phone which have already received excellent reviews from the global media. Dubbed as ‘The Best in Test’ by “Mobile”, a leading Swedish handset magazine, the U8500 is certainly one of the best. It is also a visible improvement on 3G phones in terms of size.

The model, which was released last November, is about to record LG’s fourth million-seller hit and the newly-released Cavalli edition is expected to accelerate sales.

The LG-U8500/U880 Special Edition is exclusively designed by Roberto Cavalli, Italian-born world-class fashion designer and has been simultaneously launched in 7 countries including the UK, Italy, Austria, Hong Kong and Australia.

The LG-U8500/U880 is only 18.2mm thick and is equipped with sophisticated multimedia features to suit fashion-conscious trendsetters. With large memory capacity, users can store more than 20 MP3 songs. The model also supports a 1.3 mega-pixel camera, video telephony, T-Flash external memory and Bluetooth.

Earlier in December, LG released a limited edition of its U8360 model designed by Cavalli, offering only 999 units in Italy at 999 euros, which proved to be a great success.

  • LG Shine KE970

    LGKE970a.jpg

Let’s take a look at the LG Shine KE970 mobile phone. The KE970 is a tri-band slider mobile phone made of metal. It’s 15mm thin and only 83g light. The upper part of the KE970 is made of mirror LCD featuring multi-angle vision technology. Mirror LCDs sure look attractive but their practicality has always been questionable in my eyes. Anyhow, the KE970 also features a multi-functional scroll key, 2Megapixel camera, Bluetooth connectivity, USB and multi-media player.
