LG Shine x Andy Lau Special Edition

LG has customized a lot of their phones. This is essential specially when they are operating in Asia, an area where people love to accessorize. This time, LG Electronics has launched a new version of their Shine phone, as a token to one of China’s movie industry icon - Andy Lau.

The Shine x Andy Lau Special Edition phone comes complete with the actor’s own handwriting inscribed on the back of the phone. Fans will ultimately see his motto, which is “Heaven is where the kind-hearted people are.”

Lau has appeared in more than 100 films, and has a huge fan base throughout Asia with the success of both his onscreen performance and his musical career. Andy Lau Tak-Wah born September 27, 1961 in Hong Kong is a Hong Kong Cantopop star, movie actor and producer. He has been Hong Kong’s most commercially successful film actor since the 1990s.

While it lost out on the opportunity to be the only carrier to play home to the iPhone 3G, Telstra has obtained LG’s new mid-range 3G cell phone, the KF390, available exclusively on its network under its Blue Tick line of handsets, which offer seamless network coverage even in rural and remote areas. There’s not much to write home about its features other than quad-band GSM and dual-band HSDPA support, but it does seem to fulfill the criteria for a mid-range cell phone having a 2-megapixel camera with a secondary VGA for video calls, a 2-inch 262k color display, media player, Bluetooth, memory expansion, and a touch-sensitive navigation pad. The KF390 will be available in select stores and dealers across the island country starting on August 4 retailing for 559 AUD (about $526) or on a 30 AUD monthly plan from Telstra starting on August 18.

  • The LG KF300 or Wine phone, launched earlier this year will arrive in Europe and Japan. If that’s the phone you were waiting for, well cross your fingers than. It might just hit your country soon.

The Wine is a fashionable tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE cell phone. It has two displays, as any respectable clamshell. The main display is a 2.2 inch QVCA while the external is a 1.3 inch 128×160 pixels. Just enough for your needs isn’t it? Other features? A 2.0 megapixel camera with auto focus, Bluetooth, 10MB internal memory, media player, microSD slot for memory expansion and that’s about it.

The LG Wine is a good looking phone for some but nothing more. Pricing and availability will probably follow, but better check with your local carrier for more details on that.

  • LG KS360 Available in Europe

If Europe is your favorite cradle of civilization, and for whatever weird reason you happen to enjoy an LG KS360 above any other phone then you happen to be in luck. The LGKS360 is available in Europe. This messenger phone is dedicated to hardcore SMS texting. Emails and social networking are also available. Optionally it can be used to call your mother every couple of months or so.

Looking closely at this LG slider shown of at CommunicAsia a while ago, we discovered:

    Full sliding QWERTY keyboard

    • 2.4 inch TFT touch screen display; 240 x 320 resolution
    • Tri-band GSM connectivity
    • GPRS/EDGE support
    • 2.0 megapixel camera with fixed focus and video recording
    • MP3, AAC, AAC+ and eAAC+ format support
    • Integrated FM Radio
    • Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity
    • 15MB internal memory
    • microSD memory card slot.

No, we didn’t miss the 3G support. And yes, there is 3G coverage in Europe. It’s just that the LG KS360 seems to lack it. After the European release, Asia and Latin America are supposed to follow. For prices and availability better check with your local carriers.

  • The LG Chocolate 3 phone is another phone announced this weekend. Unlike its predecessors this isn’t a slider but a flip phone. But you already knew that didn’t you. And unlike the other phone launched this weekend, it doesn’t have that many apps available to use. Nor is it that popular too. And I am sure you won’t have to sleep in front of Verizon Wireless stores to get one. Not to mention it was supposed to arrive on July 14th.

  • LG-LB2900S Phone Announced

In mobile news, LG today has just announced its new LG-LB2900S phone. The phone is designed specifically for people who can’t read because of eye problems - at least that is how LG intended this phone to be.

Users can download up to 1500 books via the internet and listen to them thanks to this phone. The phone is able to read menu, recognise voice to calling someone or read short messages.

No info yet on the price, but kudos to LG for thinking about our less fortunate brothers. With this device, their inadequacies will not be that much of a problem anymore.

  • There, I said it all, the next Chocolate from LG, the third version is coming to Verizon Wireless on July 14th. What more do you need? Go start a line in front of a store or something! Oh, I get it, you don’t exactly like Chocolate? Not the LG kind? Let’s see what LG Chocolate 3 is all about.

The first striking difference is the clamshell design. The previous models were sliders. I personally hate sliders as I end up playing with them all day long, which is quite annoying. The Chocolate 3, or the VS8560 as close friends like to call it, will be priced at $129 after $50 rebate as long as you opt in for a 2 year agreement. If you want just a 1 year agreement, the price goes up to $199 after rebate while a contract free phone costs $299.

  • LG has released one of its high-end touchscreen handsets, the LG Secret will be known by their new names of LG SU600, LG KU6000 and LG LU6000. These phones will be rebranded and launched in South Korea. These were previously launched in Europe as LG KF750 and as LG KF755 in South America.

LG Secret is a sleek, slim and stylish slider phone that has dimensions of only 102.8 x 50.8 x 11.8 millimeters and has a weight of 116 grams. The handset is made out of unique materials like tempered glass and carbon fiber. One of the strongest points of LG Secret is probably its strong camera, which is 5 Megapixels letting you click photos of maximum resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels, auto focus, flash, face detection and video recording.

All the other features are great in this phone, such as its 2.4 inch TFT touchscreen display with 262K colors and its QVGA resolution (240 x 320 pixels), an intuitive Touch Media user interface, 3G connectivity for data transfer speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps.

It also has a music and video player with the popular formats supported, a TV out, FM radio with RDS, pre-installed Google applications, full HTML browser, email, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, USB 2.0, document viewer, 100MB of internal memory and microSD card support for up to 4GB.

  • Rumored: LG 8 Megapixel Phone

You know it and I know it. The LG Dare isn’t the iPhone contender the Instinct is. No matter how good it looks it can’t be compared to them. Not to mention the HTC Touch Diamond. Apparently LG also knows this and they are going to do something about it.

According to rumors, LG is working on a new touch screen phone, the KC910 which should blow away the competition when it will be released. It’s rumored this LG will feature an 8 megapixels camera with Xenon flash, image stabilization and automatic face detection. It will also record video in widescreen 720×480 resolution. The display itself should have a resolution of 800×480. And as for size it will be about 0.55 inch thick. Curios for more? So am I, but that’s about all we know so far.

Who’s going to release it? Verizon? How much will it cost? A lot? When will it be released?

The LG Dare is finally here folks. Just go to your Verizon Wireless store and get it right now. Or maybe wait a couple of days for a similar phone that’s about to come out, you know try it out and then decide if the Dare is really what you need?

This LG comes to $199 for a two year contract. Sounds similar to an AT&T deal across the street? I’m not saying the Dare is a bad phone. Not at all. It’s a great smartphone but it certainly isn’t better than the Samsung Instinct, which supposedly sold almost out just in a few days. And for a way cheaper price. Maybe Verizon missed all that action.

Getting back to the LG Dare, I’ll remind you quickly some of the specs which might convince you to buy it:

    • a proximity sensor,
    • accelerometer
    • Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP,
    • 3.2 megapixel camera,
    • EV-DO Rev A.

I might have believed the Dare was more promising once, but I might have just been a little angry over some missing copy paste action.

With its slide-out QWERTY keypad and the flashily stylish red attire aside, the LG KS360 is pretty much any other 2.5G cell phone that is available in the market now. The horizontal 2.4-inch display has a resolution of 240×320 pixels and there’s a 2-megapixel on the back for your casual photography needs. The KS360 is designed to work with triband GSM topping out with GPRS/EDGE connectivity. LG has also thrown in a music player and an FM radio to go with the snazzy color, so this might be a good option for your musically inclined nephew or niece. USB 2.0 support along with Bluetooth round its connectivity options. There is no word on pricing or availability but we could be looking at an Asian release pretty soon.

    LG Secret Proves Sex Sells?

Here’s this new viral video from LG. And what better way to promote it than sex? Sex would sell almost anything right? When I first caught this commercial clip I was thinking did Apple go mad? I wasn’t paying attention to the handset itself for whatever reason. But then I found it around most tech blogs around under LG.
