LG Launches the LG KC780

The LG KC780 is a slider phone which has a great 8 megapixel camera. LG has announced it today and we’re going to take a look at its official features. Too bad there’s no 3G, WiFi or GPS to start with. They would have come in handy for sending lots of pictures to friends and geo-tagging them. But it looks like LG didn’t think about that!

Here are the official features:

  • GSM 900/1800/1900, GPRS/EDGE connectivity
  • 2.4 inch 240×320 QVGA 262K color display
  • 8 megapixel autofocus camera
  • FM Radio
  • Built-in accelerometer
  • Divx playback
  • 140 MB of user memory
  • microSD memory card slot (up to 8 GB)
  • USB 2.0, Bluetooth 2.1 EDR
  • 900 mAh Li-Ion battery, 6 hours talk and 450 hours standby time.

If you are interested in an mid-range phone with a great phone, the KC780 will arrive in Europe in November while other Asian markets are going to follow soon.

  • LG Launches Developers Network

More and more cellphone manufacturers are getting into the whole App Store movement. Just like the Eee PC concept made most of the PC manufacturers design their own, Apple’s App Store has convinced others to create their own stores. We have RIM, T-Mobile and Google stores and now LG steps up to the plate.

LG launched its LG Mobile Developer Network which will help developers both developers and LG to launch new applications designed for the mobile world. While Apple has a very successful operation going on which is pretty profitable for both the company and the developers, I’ll be really interested to see how LG for example is going to perform.

    LG Renoir Officially Launched

The LG KC910, or the Renoir, is finally available in Europe. Asia and Latin America will follow in November. Africa and the Middle East are next in December while China will get it in January. Something seems to be missing wouldn’t you say?

Here are the official features of the Renoir:

    • Wi-Fi
    • A-GPS
    • 3G via HSDPA
    • 8 megapixel camera
    • DivX video and Dolby sound
    • 3 inch, 240 x 400 touchscreen display
    • 3.95 mm thick

The Renoir seems to be a worthy adversary. It has lots of camera options like the Touch Shot which lets you tell the camera what it should be focusing on. Not to mention it’s the slimmest 8 megapixel cameraphone available so far.

So LG hit me with some prices. And maybe with updated release dates for you know, only the rest of the world?

One of the first times we mentioned the LG Wine was to talk about its South Korean debut, and that happened like 6 months ago, in April. Another recent mention was made 3 months ago, on July, when the Wine was presented in Europe and Japan.

As you can see, the worldwide expansion of this simple cellphone is pretty good, and to prove that point Canada has joined the list by offering the LG Wine threw an exclusive deal with Bell Mobility.

About the phone itself, what can we say… it is basic but works like a charm. It features a 2.2-inch display, 1.3-megapixel camera, bluetooth, and the special detail – being compatible with GPS navigation.

The LG Wine is available in 2 colors – black and gold – for $80 with a 3-year contract.

    Adel Bazerghi from Bell, comments:

Not only does the LG WINE dazzle with its sophisticated appearance, but it also sets the standards for ergonomics and ease of use. The LG Wine is more than just a phone. It’s a statement about your lifestyle.

  • LG has announced yet another cellphone that has touchscreen as one of the main features. The LG KP500 was announced today and will be officially in the shelves on late October, for an unknown price.

There aren’t many specific details about the new KP500, but we could gather that it will come with a 3-inch touchscreen accompanied by a Stylus, making the usability better and the probability of smudges popping up much smaller, unlike with happens when using the iPhone…

  • After T-Mobile and HTC have finally proven that the Android OS is working properly on a phone, more manufacturers and carriers will want to sell their own Android powered smartphones.

We’ve seen Motorola expanding it’s Android project and now it’s Samsung and LG ready to commit to creating an Android phone each in 2009. Both companies are likely to launch their Android handsets by Q3 of 2009 but not sooner. Mirae Asset Securities says the delay is caused by carriers like Vodafone which are skeptic about Google’s OS, although that’s not a confirmed, official statement. Does that mean that not everyone is thrilled about the Android?

  • LG KC780 Pictures Surface

The KC780 is the LG’s 8 megapixel camera phone we’ve spotted last week at the FCC and now we have a better picture of it. This LG could be the slimmest 8 megapixel camera phone so far, although the Samsung Pixon is officially measured at 13.8 mm so far. (more…)

  • Looks like LG wants to cover both the high and low end of things, just as it did when it entered the 5-megapixel fray with the Veiwty KU990 and KC550. As a companion to the already announced high-end KC910, LG seems to be working on a low-end 8-megapixel snapper, the KC780. The KC780 has already managed to slip by the FCC unnoticed and except for its powerful lens, it falls short (as LG expects) in many other areas. The slider is designed to work with quad-band GSM networks with speeds stopping at EDGE, and has Bluetooth, USB 2.0 support, and microSD expansion to augment the 140 megs that it houses internally. Not much to speak of, but if we are solely interested in a good cameraphone, this could serve the purpose. No details on pricing or availability, but as always, looks for us to tell you. (more…)

  • We are surprised this didn’t leak out much earlier, given that AT&T has been tinkering with the thing in its labs for some time now. May be LG and AT&T know a few more tricks than Nokia and Sony Ericsson who seem to be having considerable difficulty keeping future handsets under wraps. Anyways, the LG Xenon’s specs is pretty impressive with quad-band GSM, dual-band UMTS/HSDPA support, a 2.8-inch display of 240×480 resolution, Bluetooth 2.0, USB and WiFi connectivity, 100MB of internal space with up to 16GB of microSD expansion, and a sliding QWERTY keyboard underneath it all. There’s also the ubiquitous aGPS receiver and accelerometer with a proximity sensor to boot. With a name like Xenon, you think they would have snuck in a better lens, but this Xenon seems easily satisfied with a 3-megapixel camera. On the whole, not a bad package, which might be headed our way this Christmas at an unknown price.

  • lg-prada-1 Proving that the Prada phones are somehow still relevant in the exciting world of cell phones, LG Electronic today issued a short, concise press release announcing that the company has sold one million units of said model.

The phone debuted in March 2007 and is one of the first few phones to feature a complete touch-screen. Despite its stellar performance and overall good features, the phone was panned for being too expensive and not featuring 3G.

LG is currently prepping a sequel to the Prada series.

  • Live pictures of the LG KC910

The KC910 aka Renoir’s 8-megapixel camera and its touchscreen interface were caught on camera recently and although it’s not a huge leap for LG in terms of technology, the camera alone should be enough to win over LG Viewty fans and photogs alike. The LG KC910 is shaped up in the usual bar form factor for a touchscreen cellphone and is a multimedia powerhouse with its ability to play Xvid and DivX videos natively in addition to many other usual formats with a big beautiful QVGA display to watch them on. Dubbed as the Veiwty II, the KC910 also carries a host of connectivity options including Bluetooth and WiFi along with 3G/HSDPA support and a GPS receiver for turn-by-turn navigation and geotagging photos. With the Schneider-Kreuznach-certified 8-megapixel lens being the strong point, this touchscreen device has a lot of camera-centric features like a Xenon flash, auto/manual focus, face/smile tracking, blink detection, and a bevy of creative shot modes to equal that of an average digital camera.

The LG KC910 will hit the streets in October, but until then, a couple of more pictures after the break should keep you satisfied.

  • The 5-megapixel shooter from LG just got a touch more sexier as the LG Secret will be available in two more hues of Ruby Violet and Titan Gold in addition to the Aqua Blue and Dark Silver that it presently wears. As we already know, the LG Secret is made from carbon fiber and tempered glass to get its dainty look and has a 2.4-inch touchscreen display to watch those 120 fps videos captured on its 5-megapixel lens. Other secrets it holds include 3G support, FM radio, Bluetooth 2.0, and microSD expansion up to 4GB. With a suggested price of 690,000 KRW (approx. $606), LG plans to add the Ruby Violet model to its European ranks while the Titan Gold will be limited to Asia when it is released.

  • Sprint Reveals LG Lotus

Sprint has recently lifted the curtains on LG’s latest handset the, very sleek, LX600 Lotus. This phone will feature a very unique design, as you can see above, in the sense that it will feature a full QWERTY keypad in a flip style phone.

The Lg LX600 will feature Bluetooth 2.0 along with a 2.0MP camera and will be avaiable on Sprint in October for $149.99, with the QWERTY keyboard as the obvious selling point.

This is probably one of the more femenine phones due to it’s compact size and, hopefully optional, purple finish.

I know I wouldn’t want to miss Prison Break’s latest episode even if it had too many shark jumps for my taste, but if I am ever stuck in a meeting during its air time, LG seems to have the perfect solution to keep me updated. The LG KB770 is a bar-style phone that integrates a DVB-T tuner that can pick up free terrestrial signals along with a huge 3-inch touchscreen display and TV-out feature. Apart from this fact and its HSDPA support, other features are less than stellar with a 3-megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, and microSD support. The LG KB770 is currently available in Germany for about 448 Euros.

  • We have seen two cell phones that can boast of a 8-megapixel camera as of now, but the LG KC910 has another trick up its sleeve, a touchscreen. Built along the lines of LG’s successful Veiwty, the KC910 is endowed with a 8-megapixel camera with a Xenon flash, auto and manual focus, face tracking, and smile/blick detection. It can also record videos at a whopping 120 frames, although that would probably mean recording in QVGA instead VGA resolution. Apart from the camera, the KC910 is also a multimedia behemoth, being capable of playing DivX and Xvid movies while putting out excellent sounds by way of Dolby technology. Coming to its connectivity options, this touchscreen cell phone has WiFi, 3G/HSDPA support, and built-in GPS for turn-by-turn navigation. There’s also a Jogging Buddy feature for the fitness fanatics, which uses GPS to track the user’s jogging routes and provide useful information. Photogs won’t have to wait long to get their hands on this device, as the KC910 is scheduled for an October release with an undisclosed price tag.

  • LG CP250 Mobile Phone Gets FCC Nod

A new LG phone was found approved by the FCC this week. The phone, identified as LG CP250, has not yet been officially announced by LG. It’s a dual-band GSM phone capable of EDGE data speeds and works in the US 850/1900MHz networks.

Not too heavy on the features - it’s got Bluetooth and a basic VGA camera.

  • LG M-Sports Edition

Yeah, the Olympics is almost over. In fact, there’s only one more week to go. But I guess its still worth mentioning LG’s new M-Sports Edition that allows users (mainly the Korean Olympic team) to receive game results and scores in real-time.

I guess this allows users to keep track of results, schedules and scores of their favorite events. But of course, users would need to sign up to a service to be able to use this.
