Camera Genius for the iPhone

Here is a potential solution for people who are having problems with the default camera the iPhone comes with. The app is the Camera Genius 1.3. It adds some worthy features to the iPhone’s bare-bones camera, but the app could use more polish and a more usable interface.

Camera Genius solves a few of the problems inherent in the iPhone’s built-in camera like its poor performance in low light, the difficulty snapping the shutter when taking self-portraits, and its lack of a timer.

The app also offers a neat feature: A sound-sensitive shutter release, so you can program the camera to snap a photo when you and a group of friends shout “Cheese” at it.

Play Jeopardy on your iPhone

If you love following that popular quiz game on TV or have a software to play wise guy on your PC, well now you can play it on your iPhone. That’s right, Sony Pictures has released a version for the iPhone and the iPod.

The native application mimics the popular quiz, featuring original “Jeopardy sounds” (Final Jeopardy Music included) and allowing users to write their own name on the podium — just like in the TV show. That said, the “story line” is also identical to the “real deal” - you pick a category and dollar amount and answer clues written by the Jeopardy crew.

The application works in both portrait and landscape mode, with latter enabling you to see other contestants and the categories on the same screen.

  • SciPhone i68

The SciPhone can initially pass for an iPhone, especially if you don’t look at it up and close. Apparently the i68 has taken its design from the iPhone and could be a potential substitute just in case you are looking for something similar.

The Cect HiPhone is the most popular iPhone clone brand right now but a pretender has just arrived that might be able to successfully challenge its dominance. For one thing, the SciPhone model i68 is pretty damn close hardware-wise to what the iPhone looks like.

Specs of the Sciphone (pronounced Sky Phone) include a quadband GSM connectivity, 3.2-inch touch screen with both finger and stylus input, 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth (!!), Fm tuner and a G-Sensor for flick navigation. The demo video below shows only a changing of wallpapers when the Sciphone is flicked but it should also be able to change track by flicking.

    inTouch Contacts for iPhone

A handy iPhone app that helps keep you organized is the inTouch Contacts. It promises to bring order to your expanding Contacts database.

While developer Objects Etc offers a sophisticated vision of how to achieve that goal in this $5 app, a number of limitations and cumbersome features mark inTouch Contacts as merely an interesting first effort.

inTouch Contacts links to your existing Contacts database, providing a view of—and the option to edit—existing individuals and companies. Inconveniently, you can’t create new records, so adding a person or company requires the native Contacts application. inTouch Contacts provides better support for Contacts’ Group records. You can import existing records into inTouch, create new Groups, and then export them back to the native database.

inTouch Views provide dynamic lists of contacts, including useful breakdowns by organization and city. Retrieving a list of everyone you know who works at a particular company, or tracking down friends while visiting a city are nearly effortless with inTouch Contacts. The application also offers search capabilities.

inTouch Contacts is compatible with any iPhone or iPod touch running the iPhone 2.2.1 software update.

It seems that Nokia has finally taken a hint from the market; touchscreens are good. Word comes to us that Nokia is prepping to launch 3 touchscreens enabled devices at some point this year to join the likes of their N97 coming this summer. One of these rumored phones is said to have the codename ‘Nautilus‘ which features both a touchscreen and full QWERTY keyboard.

Rumor has it these new touch screen devices will utilize haptic feedback technology licensed from Immersion in an attempt to make typing on the phones less of a chore.

Nokia is still far ahead in terms of worldwide sales but companies like Apple and RIM are hot on their tail, so it’s about time they picked up the pace.
