Well, it seems that Apple is continuing the leap from selling the iPhone at just their own stores and AT&T locations to selling the device at a plethora of retailers.

The latest retailer to secure the iPhone for their inventory is RadioShack The Shack which will have the iPhone 3G and 3GS at Dallas-Forth Worth and New York City stores towards the end of this month.

So, if you want to pick up Apple’s flagship handset you now have another location to do so at.

Cry Translator iPhone app

As a parent of three children, I suppose I would have loved to have the Cry Translator during my kids’ infant years. This Cry Translator iPhone app is somehow able to interpret a baby’s cry to determine whether he or she is hungry, sleepy, stressed, annoyed, or bored.

Apparently, this works because baby crying is essentially a universal language. Believe it or not, the makers of this app say it is 96 percent accurate. If you want to test that out for yourself, go to the website and spend $30 on it. If you purchase it by November 11th, you can get it for $9.99.

I am amazed at all the new uses for augmented reality, especially those that make their appearances on iPhone apps such as Layar. There is now another augreal app with the Car Finder. (By the way, augreal is just an abbreviation that I just made up for Augmented Reality. I’m hoping it will catch on.)

Car Finder relies on an iPhone 3GS camera and digital compass in order to “overlay the direction of your car and how far away it is”. So now you have a way of remembering where you park. It is available at the App Store for about $0.99.

Here is an iPhone app that should be useful for aspiring musicians. Called the Riff Raters app, musicians can share and record original riffs up to 20 seconds via their iPhone or iPod Touch with any instrument they like. They can also edit riffs with reverb and trimming tools to be able to get the sound they are looking for. Once finished, they can post their short riffs to Riff Raters and see if it can make it at the top of the charts.

The Riff Raters app for the iPhone or iPod Touch is now available at the iTunes app store for $1.99.

Before you read on please make note that this is only a rumor and has not been confirmed in any way shape or form — BGR brings us news that AT&T and Apple are pondering whether or not to launch an 8GB iPhone 3GS for $99 that would be presumably replace the current $99 iPhone 3G.

Like I said, there isn’t very much evidence to back this up but if this goes down it would reportedly be a move to combat the DROID handsets popping up on Verizon.

Flying Without Fear iPhone app

For those who are afraid of flying, iPhone has a solution with a Flying without Fear course. This app is made to help the user face their acrophobia with frequently asked questions, an explanation of the flight process, as well as relaxation exercises.

Whoopi Goldberg endorses this app, who says that it cured her. The app itself is said to have a whopping 98 percent success rate which just seems way too high. Anyway, it is available for $4.99 at the App Store, along with the nice bonus of 2,000 Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles.

Here’s an interesting iPhone app that will let you help out with other apps. This is Chorus, an App Store app that will aid in recommending apps to fit the user’s needs.

Unlike the Apple’s native App Store app, this doesn’t have a “top” list based on overall downloads. Chorus is designed to work in chorus with apps that have been recommended by other Chorus users.

See, I told you that jailbreaking your handset could bring on a series of unwanted events your way. It looks like a security vulnerability has been exposed by a Dutch hacker. The hacker gained access to various jailbroken phones and then he sent picture messages demanding a €5 PayPal payment:

If you don’t pay, it’s fine by me, but remember, the way I got access to your iPhone can be used by thousands of others-they can send text messages from your number (like I did), use it to call or record your calls, and actually whatever they want, even use it for their hacking activities! I can assure you, I have no intention of harming you or whatever, but, some hackers do! It’s just my advice to secure your phone.

Luckily enough he did reveal the fix for the problem and it comes free of charge. Did you have any problems with your jailbroken iPhone?
