The HTC Touch Pro2 and the HTC Snap are among the first smartphones out there that will be upgraded to Windows Mobile 6.5. We have been aware of all this for a few months but it’s only now that we are able to confirm it. Both phones are upgradeable, at least in theory, to Windows Mobile 6.5. However, depending on where you purchased your Touch Pro2 or Snap phone from, you might not be able to use the upgrade yet. Minor things like carrier branding or phone locking could prevent you from getting the much needed upgrade right now. If that happens then go ahead and complain to customer service about it. You should definitely be able to enjoy Windows Mobile 6.5 no matter what carrier sold you the Touch Pro2 or the Snap. After all, that’s why you purchased these phones in the first place, right?

Are you looking for an unlocked HTC HD2 already? The phone will be out in Europe in the following months. First O2 will launch it in the UK this month while Vodafone will launch it in Spain in December. U.S. customers are only going to get it at some point in the first quarter of the next year but that doesn’t mean you have to be waiting that long to get it.
The HD2 will be also available off contract starting with November 11. The unlocked phone will sell for around $740 in the U.K. which is not a bad price considering what the HD2 can do.
Yes, you can purchase the phone and use it in the USA but you will have to settle for EDGE connectivity only. The unlocked HD2 will not be able to offer 3G connectivity if you decide to use it in the USA. Therefore, if you want a 3G HTC HD2 you’ll have to wait until 2010 to purchase one.

Take a gander at this new Windows Phone ad that has been going around. Yes, it is disturbing to see gigantic humanoid versions of apps in this poor guy’s home, and I’m certain that if I saw those, I would run from my home screaming. The last thing I would be doing is holding up my Windows enabled Mobile phone and have them jubilantly come with me.
Yes, it is disturbing and confusing. Many have pointed out that there really isn’t a Windows phone, but a phone that supports Windows. The fact that it has the HTC Pure label on it is adding a little more confusion to the mix.

If you’re on Sprint and really looking to secure yourself an HTC Hero when it is made available, rumors are surfacing that you are now able to pre-order it.
Of course, you’re not going to be able to just hop on their website and slap down a pre-order instead you’re going to have to call up Sprint’s telesales and haggle with them until the let you pre-order it.
Either way, the chances of the HTC Hero completely selling out are slim so you shouldn’t have a problem if you don’t want to deal with Sprint’s customer service.

HTC is one of my favorite cell phone makers right now. Their Android phones pop one after the other and they are definitely innovators when it comes to making Android smartphones and not only that you’d expect them to be pulling in some serious cash from this whole Android endeavor, right? Well it looks like they don’t bring in that much cash at all.
HTC has announced its Q3 financial results and it looks like they lost 18% compared to the same period of last year; that’s $179 million compared to $217 million last year. Let’s forget for a second that the worldwide financial crisis is affecting the way we buy stuff, cell phones included, and remember the fact that HTC is “the largest maker of phones using Microsoft Corp.’s operating system by shipments.” Is Windows Mobile bad for HTC? Should they make the definitive switch to Android?

We don’t have the precise details yet but everything is confirmed. Check out Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt and Verizon’s CEO Lowell McAdam holding Verizon branded Android phones in the picture above. Cellular South picked the HTC Hero a few weeks ago, and today they started accepting pre-orders for the smartphone. And the best part is that there is a “good” deal to go with it, related to the monthly plans.
At $80 per month you get the best package - Smartphone Unlimited Plan - which includes everything unlimited such as talk, text, web and email. In case you want to add another phone to this plan, it only costs half the price of the original, and for $40 you get the same. Rumors of the HTC Touch HD2 have been floating around for some time now but they have been more focused on the software side of things and not what we can expect to see under the hood.
Today, further rumors have surfaced that give us a look at the specs which are a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor, 7.2Mbps HSPA, a 4.3-inch WVGA touchscreen, FM radio, 5MP camera, Bluetooth 2.1, and a 3.5mm audio out jack.
Unfortunately, there aren’t any solid dates for when we will be seeing the HTC Touch HD2 but rumor has it we will be seeing the device hit T-Mobile UK at some point in the non-too-distant future.

Microsoft’s answer to Apple’s App Store wasn’t schedule to go live until tomorrow October 6th but it seems that the guys over at Redmond have jumped the gun launching the Marketplace today, one day early.
Make note that the only phone currently available that is able to access the Marketplace is the HTC manufactured AT&T Pure which runs Windows Mobile 6.5. Everything else, you’re going to have to wait until the coming weeks where more Windows Mobile 6.5 powered phones are expected to be released.

What do you know folks, it looks like AT&T has quietly decided to start selling the Pure with a couple of days to go before Windows Mobile 6.5 goes official. In case you forgot the Pure is HTC’s Touch Diamond2, one of the first phones announced to run Microsoft’s latest mobile OS. Notice the date on the phone in the picture here and feel free to run to your closest AT&T store to get it.
