While the Touch Viva turned out to be the low-end stalwart of the three new smartphones announced by HTC, the HTC Touch HD is a farcry from it and in fact has everything needed to pulverize the iPhone 3G (if it hasn’t succumbed already to the recent touchscreen onslaught). And we thought the Touch Diamond was the ultimate cell phone! Anyway, this handsome multimedia monster supports quad-band GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz network frequencies along with HSDPA and has a 3.8-inch VGA (yay!) touchscreen, a surefire combination aimed to provide the best mobile internet and multimedia experience. There’s also Bluetooth 2.0, GPS, WiFi, and a microSD slot to expand the 512MB onboard memory, all good to go on Windows Mobile 6.1 with the TouchFLO 3D interface. We know we don’t have to worry about its multimedia capabilities, but as a bonus, HTC has included a 3.5 headphone jack, something which is yet to become a real standard on cell phones. The Taiwanese manufacturer has also endowed the Touch HD with a 5-megapixel camera, a great improvement over the 2 and 3.2 megapixel lens stuck on the previous devices. There’s no word on its pricing, but the HTC Touch HD will hit major European markets in the fourth quarter of 2008. (more…)

  • Standing by their belief that touch is the way of the future, HTC has announced three new cell phones catering to every segment of the touch-frenzied consumers of today. Of the three, the HTC Touch Viva, which we have already talked about, turns out to be the perfect product for any budget-minded consumer, with a few sacrifices in its specifications compared to the other splendid devices that HTC has announced lately. The Touch Viva’s design is reminiscent of the original HTC Touch, a proven winner, but with a few improvements at the expense of losing some. This smartphone is powered by a TI OMAP 850 processor running at just 201MHz helped along by 128MB RAM and 256MB ROM, although the touchscreen TFT display still manages to be generous at 2.8 inches with a 240×320-pixel resolution. All the usual connectivity options seem to be included with Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi in 802.11b/g flavor, and network support is limited to quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz frequencies. The Touch Viva also gets a bump up to Windows Mobile 6.1 compared to the original Touch and gains TouchFLO 3D instead of just good old TouchFLO. A 2-megapixel camera is also added as an afterthought along with microSD support.

    The HTC Touch Viva will be available starting next month.

  • By now you already know HTC has a new Touch ready called the Opal. Well strike all that from your memory. The new handset from HTC will be called HTC Touch Viva. I guess Viva is just a tiny bit better than Opal. But not exactly a hit. You’ll be able to name it Charlie later on when you get it. Or Wilma, or Stan… (more…)

  • HTC RAPH101 PDA Phone

    FCC has given approval to HTC RAPH101 PDA phone. We heard about this cell phone in the month of July. The rumors stated that HTC Touch Pro would land in the lap of AT&T. For some people the RAPH101 is AT&Ts Fuze. The confidentiality report in the FCC’s documents shows that Nov 30th is the expected date for unveiling the details. Let us see when this phone finally comes out. HTC is better than Apple…I believe coz I use it. So I am keen to know more about the upcoming model.

  • HTC’s new communicator device is almost here. HTC calls it, the Opal which seems to be a successor to the HTC Touch. Details of the device’ features mentioned some good and bad aspects. On the negative side, the handset doesn’t support 3G, however, it does feature TouchFLO 3D interface, found on the HTC Touch Diamond and Pro.

    Powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and featuring HTC’s TouchFLO user interface, the HTC Opal’s specifications sheet shows a large 2.8″ QVGA resolution touchscreen display.

    The HTC Opal appears to offer quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz) support, in addition to built-in WiFi for fast data speeds. The 2 megapixel camera should be able to capture decent photos, and its microSD card slot should offer plenty of storage.

    HTC Opal Specifications:

    * Networks GSM / GPRS / EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz;
    * Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional OS;
    * TI OMAP 850 processor, 200 MHz;
    * 256 MB ROM, 128 MB RAM, microSD slot;
    * 2.8″ QVGA touchscreen;
    * 2Mpix camera;
    * Wi-Fi 802.11b / g, Bluetooth 2.0;
    * HTC ExtUSB connector;
    * Lithium-Ion battery capacity 1100 mAh

    • Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro
    • 200 Mhz TI OMAP 850 processor

    • Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.0
    • 2 megapixel camera
    • microSD card slot.

  • It appears that the HTC Fuze for AT&T has cleared the tall gates of the FCC. The device, bearing FCC ID NM8RPLT, is a PDA phone supporting HSUPA 850/1900MHz networks. As with some of the cooler gadgets, the manufacturers have put in special requests to block the device photos from being published on a public website such as that of the FCC.

    Anyway, it’s got the usual goodies like Bluetooth, so when it hits the mainstream, we will know more - so you’ll know more. We promise.

  • HTC S740 Mobile Phone

    If for some wierd reason, you wanted a Touch Pro without its touchscreen feature, you might want to take a gander at HTC’s latest S740 model. The S740 sticks close to the Touch Diamond’s glossy design, right down to its sleek front facade and the diamond pattern on its back. All the specs are identical exception for the omission of a touchscreen which is compensated with the usual 12-key numeric keypad. The touchless 2.4-inch display, reduced from the 2.8-inch VGA screen that everybody loves on the Touch Diamond, is satisfied with QVGA resolution, and other goodies like HSDPA support, aGPS, Bluetooth, microSD support, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, FM radio, and a slide-out QWERTY keypad seems included along with Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard.

    The HTC S740 will be available starting this month in Europe at an undisclosed price.

  • Getting an HTC Touch Diamond without being forced to opt for a two-year plan from Sprint is quite easy. All you have to do is go to a Best Buy and ask for an unlocked HTC Touch Diamond. But you can’t have everything. The price is said to be pretty steep. $700, that’s how much an unlocked HTC Touch Diamond will cost in the Best Buy stores.

    Or you can wait until September 14th when Sprint will launch the Diamond. Following the official release we might expect prices to drop in Best Buy stores too.

  • People have been saying the HTC Dream will be available for presale starting with September 17th and later on available in stores. Now other people are saying that T-Mobile has scheduled press conferences for October 23rd to fully launch the Dream aka the G1. Well who are we to trust? Is the phone ready or not? Will we see it this September or not? Sure we’ve seen it in photos so far, but I am talking about regular full scale, official release.

    We’ll definitely keep you posted!

  • Although there is a lot less hype than what surrounded the iPhone 3G, Google’s first mobile device sure has many people stoked about what can be expected and what is rumored. We saw a video a while back of what the UI might look like, a potential release date, and now this. AndroidGuys have unearthed a few credible-looking specs for the HTC Dream G1 that aren’t too shabby. Apparently, T-Mobile is still in the picture and will be handing them out for $199 to whoever has a GMail account and opts for a two-year contract, but the release date has been pushed another month to October 13th. As for specs, here’s a list of what could be seen when it becomes available in black, white, or brown:

    Quad-band 850/1800 and 950/1900 network capability with 3G, HSDPA, UMTS, and SPL support.
    528MHz Qualcomm 7201 processor with 64MB RAM and 128MB ROM
    Touchscreen display
    Arc-sliding QWERTY keyboard
    WiFi 802.11b/g
    Google Maps (GPS?), StreetView, and YouTube support
    3.1-megapixel camera with no video recording
    MicroSD support with 1GB memory card preloaded
    Support for applications via Android marketplace

    At $199, these specifications sound too good to be true, but we better hold on to our horses until all or some of these are confirmed by Google, HTC, or T-Mobile.

  • HTC Dream Pictures and Prices

    HTC’s first Android device, the Dream has been widely discussed these last couple of weeks. While we’re still waiting to see if a September release will be possible, we got more pictures and details of the upcoming device.

    What do you think about the image above? Does it look real enough to you? Is it extremely photoshopped? We sure need more details than that.

    But there are rumored pricing options for the HTC Dream. A new customer choosing a 2 year contract will get the phone for $199.99. A new customer choosing a 1 year contract will pay $249.99. A full upgrade with a 2 year contract will cost $217.99 while a 1 year contract will cost $267.99. A partial upgrade will get you the handset for $367.99.

    If you pre-order a full upgrade with a 2 year contract you will pay $167.99 while a pre-order with only 1 year will cost you $217.99. A pre-order with a partial upgrade gets you the phone for $317.99. If you want to pay the full $399 you will get the phone without a contract.

    But these are just rumors

  • Yes and no, from the looks of this video. The area around the navi-wheel seems to be able to recognize two finger inputs at the same time with the help of an application called Nav Debug Tool. Not the touchscreen itself like the iPhone/iPhone 3G. Still, a cool hidden feature WMPowerUser.com uncovered that could be exploited by many an app. Watch the video above

  • Finally, and might I say unexpectedly, the day when a T-Mobile’s official would confirm its first Android device has arrived.

    Not exactly a gPhone, but certainly an iPhone competitor, T-Mobile’s Android handset has been discussed all over the internet lately. But now we have something real, an official statement and not just rumors. (more…)

  • HTC Dream Gets OK From FCC

    You may remember the HTC Dream we talked about earlier this month, said to be the first gPhone running on the Android platform

    Well, the Dream is about to become a reality as the FCC has given HTC the go ahead to start producing the phone for consumers. All we know now about the phone is that it features a touchscreen, slide out keyboard, and 3G internet, carrier and the rest are currently unknown.

    The real question however, is will this be the phone to equal the iPhone in hype? Or will it just be another attempt by a handset manufacturer to steal a few sales from Apple.

  • HTC Touch Pro Available from AT&T?

    Word on the street is that AT&T is going to pick up the new HTC handset, the Touch Pro and they will rebrand it as the HTC Fuze. I don’t know why they want to change the name, but it’s good to know they are bringing the Touch Pro to the US market.

    The HTC Fuze is said to be available “sooner rather than later” whatever that means. There aren’t any concrete news on pricing either but I am counting on AT&T employees to leak these details on time like they always do.

  • According to leaked images and recent rumors circling the web, the HTC Touch Diamond coming from Sprint will not be black but red. Well they might have the black version two when it comes out but a red version would be even more fun.

    Don’t worry there aren’t any news about the official release date or about the prices. All we have is a just a color rumor…
