Despite being released in Canada only recently, Rogers Wireless has announced that they will be lowering the prices of both the HTC Dream and HTC Magic to $99.99.
Of course, you’ll have to opt for a 3-year contract before you get the lowered price but $99.99 for an Android phone? Count me in.
Hell, after seeing that a hacker got HTC’s Sense UI running on one of these phones makes the deal even more enticing.

The phone will go on sale in Russia starting with July 6 and you can expect it to cost around $500 without a contract. Would you pick the HIGHSCREEN PP5420 over the HTC Hero?

Besides Orange UK it seems that Orange Spain is also going to sell the HTC Hero soon. And we should safely assume that Orange will consider bring the Hero to other markets too. In the mean time the phone will be available to Spanish customers for 99 Euro when purchased with a monthly plan of at least 29 Euro. In case you’re going to pre-order it online, you can get the phone for just 89 Euro. The Hero will be available in Orange stores sometime next week and in case you don’t want a new agreement you’ll be able to get the newest HTC Android phone for somewhere around 500 Euro. What do you think?

Do you remember when HTC announced that their sleek new user interface dubbed Sense would only be made available for phones without the “with Google” branding? Well it looks like some Italian hackers weren’t pleased with this and decided to take maters into their own hands.
Featured in the above video is a T-Mobile G1 running HTC’s Sense UI and from the looks of it is relatively smooth. Other than Sense’s obvious graphic enhancements this hack will actually enable the G1’s multitouch, a feature that was not enabled out of the box.
Ths hack came about by the Italian group of hackers flashing their G1 with what they are calling the SuperHERO ROM.

We have no official launch dates for the HTC Hero just yet but it looks like carriers around the world are preparing for a future launch. One of them is Orange UK and it’s really interested in the Hero. How else could you explain the appearance of the handset on the official Orange UK site? In fact the company is testing the device as we speak and pricing details could be unveiled as soon as tomorrow. The phone will probably be available for free provided that you choose a pricier new plan but we’ll tell you more about it pretty soon.

The HTC Hero is the hottest Android phone so far. The phone was just announced by HTC at a special event in London and it amazed everyone with that new Sense UI on top of the regular Android OS. And it’s only logical for the HTC Hero to be available for pre-order in the UK already. Amazon UK has the unlock phone up for sale. You’ll have to pay around $710 and wait a couple of weeks to receive it. What do you think? How much would you be willing to pay for your Hero?

After you’ve seen the Sense UI in action you should also know that HTC has a new TouchFlo version coming up. The TouchFlo 3D 2.5 also known as the Manila will apparently be available on the Firestone in the near future.
Manila comes with new features like a new home screen with support for Footprints and up to nine apps shortcuts. There’s also faster access to calendar and alarm access. A new settings screen will let you customize the phone without getting you the feeling that you’re still handling a Windows Mobile device.
With these in mind we’ll be waiting for the HTC Firestone to see get more details. In the mean time you can check out the demo video above and choose between the Sense or the TouchFlo.

After we’ve seen the HTC Sense UI in action on an Android device, now we hear that future Windows Mobile handsets might come with Sense UI installed too. Here’s what we know so far:
The Hero UI has been created specifically for HTC’s Android-based phones but also represents that three core pillars of HTC Sense. HTC’s future Windows Mobile phones will also be based on HTC Sense, but will enhance Windows Mobile in a way that is as appropriate and valuable to people.
As you can see there aren’t any specific details yet. We have no idea when that Sense UI will be available and what Windows Mobile phones is HTC going to launch in the near future. One question does come to mind though! How will HTC choose between Sense UI and TouchFlo? Will the company make both these user interfaces work on Windows Mobile phones?

July 16 - Los Angeles, CA
July 21 - Arlington, VA
July 22 - Houston, TX
July 23 - Atlanta, GA
July 28 - Fort Lauderdale, FL
In case you’re interested in just buying one of the two handsets, the Dash 3G is arriving on July 15 while the Touch Pro2 is expected to be available on July 22. We’ll need some pricing details and some confirmation from T-Mobile but we’ll let you know if the dates change.

If you were looking to get the Sense UI, featured on the HTC Hero, for your T-Mobile G1 you are sure to be discouraged by this latest announcement.
Apparantly, the HTC has released a statment that says due to licensing terms, any phones branded with the Google logo, such as the T-Mobile Android devices, will not be able to run the stylish user interface.
Then again, once the Sense UI is made readily available, it’s only a matter of time until hackers will be able to boot it up on the above mentioned devices.

I guess Sprint is finally ready to offer Android devices to its subscribers. And we hear that among the handsets considered the HTC Hero and an unknown yet Samsung Android phone with 4G support.
The Hero is in testing right now and Sprint could launch it by the end of the year. What’s more interesting is a Samsung Android phone which will have WiMAX support besides the regular CDMA connectivity. Is that going to be the first 4G Android phone? We have no clear details just yet but we’re hoping someone will clear the air soon!

Last week we told you that HTC’s Ozone would be hitting Verizon Wireless online on June 29th but we left you without a price or many details about the phone.
Luckily, we now know that the phone will retail for $49.99 with a 2-year contract after a mail in rebate. The HTC Ozone will feature Windows Mobile, a full QWERTY keyboard, WiFi, VZ Navigator, visual voicemail support and a 1500mAh battery.
Just to further clarify, you’ll only be able to get the HTC Ozone online on June 29th, you won’t be able to walk into a Verizon Wireless retail store and get it until July 13th.

The phone of the day is definitely the newly announced HTC Hero. Besides that Sense UI which we heard it’s going to be available to other Android devices, we heard that Adobe has Flash support ready for the Hero too.
The Hero is therefore the first Android phone that will have support for Flash and Adobe has already shown that to everyone. Flash movies and Flash games are all going to be supported in Hero’s browser so in case you want a new Android phone, the Hero looks exactly like what you wised for.
In the video above, Adobe’s own Adrian Ludwig is showing off Flash in action on this Android phone so you should enjoy the video and start waiting impatiently for the phone to be shipped to your home address.

After you’ve seen the Hero today you must have started toying with the idea of getting that Sense UI on your current Android device, whatever it may be. And it’s safe to say that the user interface is going to be available to other HTC Android devices. We have no official press release to prove that but we might have something better. According to HTC’s CEO, Peter Chou, “HTC sense will be available on some other existing devices.” Isn’t that good news or what?
The Sense UI will definitely make your Android phone more appealing so you should grab it when you’ll have the chance. We’ll be telling you what to do and when as soon as we know about it.

Well folks, just about an hour after the HTC Hero’s official website was discovered, HTC went ahead and officially unveiled the phone.
While there aren’t many new details other than what was stated on the website (Qualcomm 528MHz processor, 5MP camera, 3.2″ touch-screen) we do know that the white model will feature Teflon coating to keep it stain (and scratch?) free. However we failed to mention that it will feature a Flash rendering web browser, UI customization, and full integration of social networking sites like Flickr and Facebook.
Furthermore, HTC let us know that the Hero will arrive on an announced carrier in Europe next month and Asia last this summer. As for North America, HTC says it will hit later on in 2009.
We’ll continue to update this post with pictures and information as HTC unveils more.

Despite being officially set to launch in about an hour, HTC has gone ahead and launched an official website for their upcoming handset, the HTC Hero.
The newly launched website gives us all sorts of data that was previously unknown. First things first, this will in fact be an Android phone. Other than sporting Google’s operating system the Hero will feature a Qualcomm 528 MHz processor, a 3.2-inch 230×480 touch-screen TFT-LCD display and a 5MP camera. Additionally it will feature GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi and a 3.5mm audio jack.
You can head over to the website at www.htc.com/www/product/hero/overview.html.
No word on pricing or availability yet but we’ll keep you updated.

The HTC Firestone is a Windows Mobile handset not officially launched yet. The phone has been just leaked and considering that HTC is hosting the Come See event tomorrow in London, we might see it arrive sooner than expected. Along with the picture above, which could be just a Photoshop job, we have some matching features:
The phone is rumored to be available this August but we have no official confirmation. And we’ll have to wait a while for some pricing details too.

The HTC Hero has been approved by the Global Certification Forum. The phone is currently listed as the HERO100 and will support dualband UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA at 1800/2100MHz. The phone might be unveiled this Wednesday in London along with the Rosie Android UI. We’ll be waiting for more details next week since we don’t have any more news about the HTC Hero right now.

Verizon Wireless is about to launch a new HTC smartphone. The Ozone is scheduled to arrive on June 29 online and July 13 if you’d rather wait to buy it straight from a representative. We don’t have any prices ready for you and there aren’t even that many details about this Windows Mobile phone yet. But since we do know is that the Ozone is basically the HTC Snap we don’t actually need any other specs, do we? What do you think folks? Are you buying this Berry-like smartphone from Verizon next week? Or would you rather get it from Sprint tomorrow?

It’s crazy I know, but instead of actually announcing the next Android phone available, T-Mobile has just confirmed that next week the phone will be announced. Wait, we’ve actually seen that happen with other carriers so why should it bother us now?
A company spokesperson had this to say about the second Android phone coming from T-Mobile:
Next week, T-Mobile will share more details about its next Android-powered phone, the follow-on device to the T-Mobile G1 with Google.
It was about time T-Mobile announced the myTouch 3G (or however they want to call it) since the Pre and the iPhone have already been unleashed from their cages. The spokesman hasn’t actually mentioned the name of the phone or any of its features but according to rumors it has to be the HTC handset we’re expecting. What do you say folks? What do you pick between Android, webOS or iPhone 3.0?
