AT&T has added two new cellphones made by Samsung to their already big catalogue. These devices can’t be considered top-notch per se, but they are pretty good taking in consideration the price.

The Samsung Mythic is priced at $200 after rebate, and will only become available to the public next month, on November. It has a TouchWiz style, a 3.3-inch display screen, and is compatible with the AT&T Navigator service.

As for the Samsung Flight, it will also become available in November, but it is a bit cheaper at $100. It has a touchscreen and a QWERTY keyboard.

Both models will feature the Opera Mini browser.

About a month ago we told you that the HTC Tilt 2 would be made available for AT&T on October 6th. Well, it seems that BGR dug up some dirt on the phone and have found out that it will in fact be shipping on October 8th.

So, those of you who are looking to access that newly launched Windows 6.5 Marketplace you now have another option to choose from. Of course you’re going to have to wait until Q3 when AT&T pushes out that free Windows Mobile 6.1 - 6.5 update.

AT&T has decided to come clean and officially launch the HTC Tilt 2 and the HTC Pure. The first Windows Mobile 6.5 phones available from AT&T will sell for $299 and $149.99 as long as you get a new two-year contract. As you already know, the HTC Pure has been available in AT&T stores since yesterday while the Tilt 2 will only arrive in the following weeks. Don’t hurry to grab the Pure yet! Remember that tomorrow Windows Mobile 6.5 will be officially unveiled and we’re going to see around 30 phones capable to run Microsoft’s new OS soon.

  • Vonage has just announced today that their mobile app for the iPhone and BlackBerry is now available for download.

    This app will allow users to make international calls over both WiFi and AT&T’s cellular network. Of course, you’re going to be paying for both AT&T minutes and Vonage’s rates if you don’t use over WiFi but by year’s end Vonage hopes to give those who subscribe to their $25 a month World plan unlimited calling as opposed to the current pay-per-go model.

    Microsoft’s answer to Apple’s App Store wasn’t schedule to go live until tomorrow October 6th but it seems that the guys over at Redmond have jumped the gun launching the Marketplace today, one day early.

    Make note that the only phone currently available that is able to access the Marketplace is the HTC manufactured AT&T Pure which runs Windows Mobile 6.5. Everything else, you’re going to have to wait until the coming weeks where more Windows Mobile 6.5 powered phones are expected to be released.

  • iPhone 3.1OS Jailbreak Available

    You have been waiting so long folks for the actual iPhone 3.1 OS jailbreak to arrive and the iPhone Dev Team has delivered. Your iPhone 3GS is ready to be freed. All you need to do is get the Pwnage Tool 3.1.3 but only if the phone was jailbroken when running iPhone OS 3.0 or 3.0.1. That shouldn’t be a problem, should it?

    Of course, we don’t recommend in any way that you jailbreak and/or unlock your iPhone, or any other phone for that matter. It’s solely up to you to take such decision, and before you do, take a personal moment and consider what could happen if you messed up your phone. I bet the manufacturer and your carrier will not be happy to hear about your hacking activities. Those of you that still want to jailbreak, follow the link below at your own expense!

  • What you see above is a live shot of the Windows Mobile 6.5 powered HTC Pure destined for an AT&T launch. Don’t think you’ll be able to walk into your local store and purchase one as it hasn’t been confirmed that all stores have them in stock and it’s not even for sale yet.

    Those of you who know the HTC Touch Diamond2 will be familiar with this phone as spec wise it is the same thing except for the fact that it features a different body design exclusive to AT&T.

    Why exactly they would take a perfectly good design and make it uglier, I don’t know.

    After whizzing through the FCC last July, it was only a matter of time before the NAM version of E71’s successor made an appearance stateside.  Amazon is now offering the Nokia E72 on a preorder and if you have been waiting for the device to pop up online, you can go ahead and order it for $469.  There is still no word on the actual release date or if there is a benevolent carrier ready to pick it up, but with triband 850/1900/2100MHz 3G network support, which is the frequency AT&T’s 3G operates at, we wouldn’t be surprised if AT&T announced the device in the coming days.  Other features of the E72 include a QWERTY keypad, a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with dual-LED flash, WiFi, GPS, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

  • Nokia 6350 Unveiled

    The Nokia 6350 which will be carried by AT&T this coming October 4 has been announced. The Nokia 6350 is a low-end phone that features a 2 megapixel camera, web browser, email capabilities and 3G connectivity. It is encased in a simple gray and red colored-theme which should be a prime target for the youth-oriented mobile phone addicts. It will retail for $29.99 after a mail-in rebate on a 2-year contract.

  • This is not the first time we’re showing you this cool hybrid phone capable of handling both cellular and satellite connectivity. We knew the TerreStar Genus was coming and it looks like AT&T is the chosen carrier. The phone has some interesting features like a 2.6-inch touchscreen display, full QWERTY keyboard, WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth. In terms of connectivity the TereStar Genus can handle GSM/GPRS/EDGE and dual 3G connectivity (UMTS/HSDPA) but also Terrestar’s 2.2GHz satellite connectivity. That means you’ll be able to make the switch to satellite whenever AT&T lets you down, and apparently that could happen in 30% of cases. In order for everything to work properly you’ll need to be prepared to get two different plans and not be surprised to see roaming charges add up. That’s right, when you’re going on satellite mode, you’ll be paying roaming charges! The phone will be available at the beginning of 2010 so there’s plenty of time to assess your need for a satellite phone in your life!

  • So how’s your iPhone working folks? Is AT&T still as crappy in your area as in the New York area? We don’t mean to be disrespectful but it looks like the average iPhone dropped calls is somewhere around 30% in New York. And that appears to be a genuine number provided by one of Apple’s own Geniuses. And said percentage seems to be fairly normal in Apple’s eyes. In fact it looks like people seem to think there’s something wrong with their iPhone when in fact the problem lies with AT&T. Go have your phone checked by the nice folks at the Genius Bar and you’ll find out exactly how many dropped calls you’ve had. Hopefully not more than 30% which is about 1 in 3 calls. What say you AT&T? Ready for to further upgrade the network?

  • Back in July it was announced that Barnes & Noble would be teaming up with AT&T to offer free WiFi access for all of their customers. Today, Borders has announced that they too will be offering free WiFi access as a recent partnership with Verizon.

    The deal has just been sealed so reports say you can expect virtually all of the 500 nationwide Borders stores to have free WiFi access by the end of October.

    AT&T likes to be considered a socially responsible company, and that is probably the reason why they are planning to launch a big campaign related to SMS texting and driving at the same time, which we all know is not good for your health and can be a disaster if you don’t pay attention. Anyhow, Randall Stephenson CEO of AT&T announced today what is the intended goal:

    “Our goal is to send a simple, yet vital, message to all wireless users: don’t text and drive.”

    The campaign will include some of the following topics:
    - employee education, to prohibit the act of sending a text message while driving;
    - defensive driving classes for employees that must do some driving while on the job;
    - launching AT&T cellphones with a message like “don’t-text-and-drive”;
    - public service announcements with famous people;
    - online resources;

  • How many times have you heard that the iPhone is going to China? How many times have we told you that Chinese carriers are just about to launch Apple’s hot phone? Well we’re just about to do it again and it looks like this time everything is for real.

    China Unicom is the carrier that’s going to bring the iPhone to China and we have even prices to prove it. The iPhone will cost $733 without a contract but you’ll definitely want to get it for a subsidized price if you are one of China Unicom’s 141 million subscribers. Well that’s possible of course and you’ll be able to pay from $131 to $623 for the iPhone as long as you choose a new contract from $130 per month to $18 per month, respectively. And yes, if you do the math, getting a subsidized iPhone from China Unicom will be a whole lot cheaper than getting it from AT&T.

    We heard a few days that the Nuvifone G60 will be launched by AT&T at some point in the near future and now we hear an unsettling rumor regarding the price tag of this handset. It looks like Garmin’s and Asus’s phone will be available for $300 after a $100 mail-in rebate and with a 2-year new contract. That’s a lot to ask for a phone that should have been here a long time ago. You surely remember that Garmin Asus has delayed its official launch countless times but in the mean times other phones have appeared and they’re a lot cooler and cheaper!

    And if $300 sounds like a lot to pay then how about $550 for the nuvifone without a contract? We’ll be waiting for official confirmation before we can complain some more!

  • Nokia Mural is an interesting clamshell phone which was initially announced for AT&T only to be pulled off the shelves later on. Apparently the Mural had some issues with AT&T’s 3G network and couldn’t connect to it. But fear not Mura fans (if there are any), AT&T has fixed the issue and the Mural is back on the streets. The phone still costs $50 with a new 2-year contract but it won’t surprise anyone if you decide to ignore it and get something else for just a few extra bucks. Or do you actually happen to love this particular Finnish creation?

  • Talk about an unforeseen turn of events! It looks like none other than AT&T is asking the FCC to investigate Google Voice. AT&T has been rumored to be the muscle behind Apple’s decision to keep Google Voice out of the App Store and now the carrier is fighting back. AT&T claims that Google Voice is responsible for blocking calls which is contrary to federal call-blocking regulations. All calls have to be permitted, no matter who you’d want to call. Google Voice is responsible for blocking calls to “adult-chat lines and conference call services, which charge expensive access fees.” We can deal with blocked conference calls but no adult-chat connections? FCC certainly has to look into that. After all anyone should be able to call adult-chat lines whenever they please!

    I wonder how many adult-chat lines / conference call services AT&T has tried before finding this anomaly in Google’s Google Voice service. So let’s see what the FCC will have to say about all this. After all the same commission punished AT&T when they were doing some call blocking of their own a couple of years ago so Google might have some explaining to do. Will be back with more details about the AT&T-Google-Apple “love” triangle in the following weeks as this soap opera is getting more and more interesting to follow.

  • Don’t look so surprised by that number! Windows Mobile 6.5 is coming and it looks like there are quite a few phone makers ready to roll phone capable or running Microsoft’s newest OS. And while we’re definitely thrilled to see that concept tablet, the Courier already, we can’t say we’re similarly interested in Windows Mobile 6.5. The OS is clearly a transition platform from the old Windows Mobile 6 to the future Windows Mobile 7.

    Nonetheless manufacturers out there are ready to launch Windows Mobile 6.5 phones! Those 30 new handsets capable of running Microsoft latest OS will be made by HTC, Samsung, LG, Sony Ericsson, Acer, Toshiba and HP. The phones will be released by the end of the year and we know a few carriers are definitely interested: AT&T, Sprint, Verizon Wireless, Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone, NTT DoCoMo, Softbank Mobile, SKT, Telestra and Telus.

    Will you buy a Windows Mobile 6.5 phone?

    Well folks, what we told you earlier this month is finally happening; the iPhone is in fact getting MMS capabilities starting on Friday, September 25th. The reason we bring you this announcement is because AT&T has just sent out the above text message letting us know that they will be disabling the current method of viewing MMS messages to make way for the real thing.

    Now here’s where everyone points and laughs at us iPhone owners because they’ve been able to send MMS for ages.
