The season of giving’s not yet over, folks. At least not for Asus China. Asus is giving away gifts for every purchase of a select few of their premium laptops. The promo began last December 21 and would end on January 31, 2008.

• A backpack would be given to anyone who purchases any F8S laptop or the Asus F9Dc.

• An Asus 80 GB leather-bound external HDD will be given to anyone who buys a black-and-white version F8P leather notebook as well as the newly-released U6S.

• Buying an Asus Z37S will mean one would get a Casio watch.

Looks like Asus is going all out. Too bad it’s only in China. But maybe in the future, they could organize a worldwide promo — if and when it becomes economically feasible for them.

The ASUS P750 is a HSDPA handheld operating on the Windows Mobile 6 platform. This GPS cell phone marks its distinction for the absence of QWERTY layout. Bearing a Candy Bar shape the P750 is equipped with a regular numeric keypad, a joystick navigator and some shortcut keys. The mobile features WiFi, SiRFstarIII GPS, Bluetooth 2.0, 3 megapixel camera with auto-focus and 520 MHz CPU. The company has also equipped a second VGA camera above the screen for video calls.

GPS navigation is not one of those things most users consider to be crucial in a PDA-phone, at least not in the same way as features like W-Fi and Bluetooth are. But even though most consider it to be a bonus rather than a requirement, it is surprisingly found in quite a few entry-level devices even when high-end ones give it a miss.

Examples will be devices from Mitac and E-Ten, companies which tend to put a GPS chip into every handset they sell, even the 2.5G ones. Another of these manufacturers is Asus, and a good example is its upcoming P527 handheld.

Like the Asus P525 before it, the P527 comes with a numeric keypad. This makes it easier to punch in phone numbers for dialing and even for keying in text compared to writing on the screen. It also eases in users switching over from regular mobile phones as most of those have numeric keypads as well.

As mentioned earlier, the P527 will come with GPS for navigation. This utilizes the SiRFstar III chip, that we’ve generally had good experiences with in other devices like the Dopod U1000 and Mitac Mio A501.

Like many other Windows Mobile PDA-phones, the P527 comes with quite a few wireless connectivity features. Granted, it’s doesn’t have HSDPA or 3G, but all others like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are available. A bonus is the inclusion of an FM tuner.

Other notable features of the P527 are a 2-megapixel autofocus camera, a microSD slot with support for SDHC cards, and a 2.6-inch QVGA display. It is also reasonably compact with a thickness of 15.4mm and weight of 125g.

The Asus P527 will be available in Hong Kong and Taiwan at the end of November. Thereafter, it will be sold in Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, India and Turkey.

The next novelty for theASUS company is the Z802i mobile phone. Branding phone draws attention by trimmings of the body (metal and leather) and the strong sapphire glass protecting the screen from scratches. Same as its predecessor Z801i, it has leather case and features a 2.2-inch 260k colors TFT LCD. The keyboard attracts attention with its metal buttons with a notch visually creating effect of volume.

As mentioned, it has a 2,2-inch QVGA with resolution 240?320 pixels. Furthermore, it is equipped with a 2 Megapixel camera with a flash and an auto focus, media player supporting MP3, AAC, MPEG3 and 3GP playback. It supports MPEG4 video recording.

The Z802i comes with Bluetooth 1.2 with A2DP, and a microSD card slot.

Asus P526 GPS PDA phone is expected to be released during CEBIT major electronics show coming up next month. Few details were released about P526, but we do know that it will be powered by the Windows Mobile 6.0 OS. Other specs of the phone include GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity, 2 megapixel camera, 2.6? touchscreen, a weight of 115g, and is only 15.4 mm thin.

At Number Three we see the Nokia Aeon Concept Phone. This phone is just a concept phone and not currently available to the consumer, it has been around for a very long time. Obviously Nokia was onto to touch phone technology from the very early stages, their long term research and studying into the technology, may see them if not in the form of the Aeon bring out a very advanced touch phone some time soon that will be available to consumers. If that happens you could probably elevated Nokia to Number Two iPhone competitor on this list.

Check it out! The ASUS Aries phone has been spotted in the flesh! The ASUS Aries is a tri-band UTMS phone (850/1900/2100MHz) featuring Windows Mobile 6 Standard for around-the-world coverage, and other cool features like a 2-megapixel camera, secondary camera for video calls, and a QWERTY keypad.

The Aries also features a 520MHz XScale processor and a scroll wheel for easy navigation. The phone is reportedly just only slightly thicker and wider than the Excalibur. (Click the image for a full-size photo.)

It seems that everyone is coming out with their own version of a touchscreen, keyless phone these days. ASUS apparently is no exception with their own announcement of the ASUS Aura, however their phone also has a QWERTY keypad that folds out and a 2-megapixel camera.

Like the iPhone, the ASUS Aura can work in both horizontal and vertical modes, switching automatically when you flip the phone around. It features a nice 3.9-inch touchscreen display, as well as Bluetooth, a microSD card slot and miniUSB connectivity. The Aura is pretty darn thin at just 9mm, which makes this the perfect size to carry easily in a pocket or purse. It is a great multimedia device, allowing you to take photos, watch movies, etc. It works on GSM networks, and features internet connectivity through 3G (including HSDPA) and WiFi.

The one thing this phone that others do not is the QWERTY keyboard. You can use either the touchscreen or the keypad, depending on your preferences. I think this is a great option, and will help sales of the device. It looks really cool!

The ASUS J501 super-slim slider phone was recently launched in Taiwan.
One of the coolest things about this phone is that it can also double as a Skype phone. So when you’re out and about you can use it as a regular mobile phone, or if you’re in a WiFi zone you can connect to Skype and save your minutes by making calls through that.

The ASUS J501 features a nice 2.2-inch display, which is great for its many multimedia functions. As well, it also includes a 2-megapixel fixed-focus camera, and a microSD slot for expandable memory. You can pick up the ASUS J501 in Taiwan for NT$9,900, or about $302 USD.

ASUS has officially announced the P735 smartphone that we told you about last week. The phone works on UMTS (WCDMA) 2100 MHz with 384 kbps UL/DL, GSM 900/1800/1900Mhz, and GPRS Class 10 networks. It does not have HSDPA or GPS.

The ASUS P735 is, however, packed with lots of multimedia features including: video calls, dual camera, business card reader, and full multimedia playback. It also includes the ASUS Remote Presenter software application, which allows you to control PowerPoint presentations from a PC via Bluetooth. It also allows you to view the PowerPoint footnotes on the ASUS P735’s screen. How cool is that?

Other innovative functions of the phone include the Meeting Planner, which allows scheduling and time conversion across up to 3 timezones for teleconferencing meetings. The ASUS Profile function helps you to avoid embarrassing rings during meetings, and the ASUS Status feature keeps you updated as to the status of the device. My Secret allows you to encrypt and protect sensitive documents (if activated).

The Asus P735 also comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connectivity, and a miniSD card slot. It weights 143g and measures 109 mm x 59 mm x 19 mm. Still no word on pricing.

Gone are the days when mobile phones were used to make umm just calls and the latest trend is to incorporate GPS functionality onto the handset! The newest GPS totting handset on the block is the ASUS P735 which is the 3G version of P535. Not much is known about the features but we do know that the handset supports UMTS, includes a miniSD card, features Bluetooth connectivity and lacks a keyboard.
