The timing of the release of this app couldn’t have come at a better time! Cyoshi Games has announced the availability of the Scary App – The iPhone Prank which pretends to be a skills test where users will have to navigate a silver marble through a wooden maze by tilting their iPhone or the iPod Touch. Now you don’t have to finish the game. Hand the game over to another person you want to play the prank on and sucker them into believing you cannot finish all the three levels.

Once the one playing is at level 3, a grotesque screaming face will turn up in the middle of the level which is bound to scare the lights off that person. A harmless prank that is fit for the Halloween season! The Scary App: The iPhone Prank (iLabyrinth)-Screamer is available at the iTunes app store for $0.99.

Here is a demo video of the app:

The Apple App Store hits another milestone today. While everyone knows how hard it is to get an app approved, hitting the 100,000 mark is an achievement in itself. While only 93,118 of these apps can actually be purchased, there are minor discrepancies such as sudden pullouts of apps due to some issues. In short, the list may not be up to date.

If you want the actual count, there are 101,847 approved apps to date. Audited or unaudited, tip your hats off to the App Store for achieving these numbers and feat. Another testament to the growing success of the app store for the many iPhone and iPod Touch owners looking for specific apps for their mobile device.

ARider uses iPhone 3GS for realtime maps

The ARider, created by Ubiquitous Entertainment, uses a head-mounted display, a bike helmet, and the iPhone 3GS to create a real-time map for bikers. Apparently, it takes advantage of the iPhone’s compass, and it can also be used for hands-free calls and connecting to Twitter using TwitBird Pro. It looks like it works well, but do you want to wear an iPhone on your helmet?

  • iPhone Dummy for sale, $20 a pop

Okay, I honestly can’t say why I would want an iPhone replica that doesn’t work, but I can now get one with $19.95 with shipping. Am I really that desperate to fit in with the iPhone crowd? It reminds me of an episode of The Simpsons where Lisa can’t afford an iPod, but wants to buy the headphones so she looks like she has one. Apparently, the myPhonies, as they were called, cost $40.

Here is something useful to spur up the promotional efforts of companies. Called the iScratcher app for the iPhone or the iPod Touch, this app takes the concept of the usual scratch-to-win contests we often see for marketing and promotional contests where customers can possibly win a prize if they are lucky enough to scratch one via their mobile screens. The app is free and should be a great boost to the marketing and promotional efforts that companies can turn to, especially when it comes to contests, sweepstakes and giveaways.

  • I don’t know about you but I wouldn’t wear such a working Apple iPhone costume. Not only is it way too big to carry around the party but you might also break it. Not to mention that it shows everything your iPhone does. And what happens if someone decides to steal the extra large iPhones?

The Halloween costumes feature each a car battery, a 42-inch LCD TV and a little iPhone OS tweaking needed to connect the iPhone to the LCD. Each costume weighs 85 pounds and costs around $1,000 to make, so while creators Reko and Bobby will definitely wear them we will gladly look for other costume ideas. What are you going to wear?
