Sometimes you run into a cell phone, especially when you come in contact with a whole lot of them as I do, that’s just plain old–as I said in the headline–aggressively average. There’s nothing that particularly stands out about it in either direction, good or bad. It doesn’t appear to lack anything important yet doesn’t do anything particularly stimulating. And that’s exactly what you can say about the Motorola Entice W766.
The Motorola W766 Entice is a flip style cell phone with a two megapixel camera that offers fixed focus and a digital zoom, support for numerous music and video files, VCAST, a battery that offers sufficient power for five and a half hours of talk time on one charge, mobile email, Bluetooth connectivity, web browser, USB port, GPS, some game demos, speakerphone, a phone book capable of holding one thousand name and number entries, and a selection of tools.
Motorola’s W766 Entice has everything you’d expect a normal cell phone to have and precious little that you wouldn’t. There’s no design quirk or interesting trait or even strange new feature to distinguish this from most any other cell phone on the market, thus I call it aggressively average. This isn’t a BAD thing, mind you–it’s just that it’s not particularly good, either. So if you’re looking for a new cell, you may want to spare a thought for the plain-vanilla stylings of the Motorola Entice.
The Good
Plenty of useful features
Solid controls
Aggressively average styling
The Bad
Virtually nothing to distinguish it from any other phone

Hot on the heels of the speculation that the Motorola CLIQ would be getting Android 2.1 next month, HTC has announced that one of their flagship devices, the HTC Hero, will too be getting the 2.1 treatment next month.
If you’re a loyal reader, you probably already know that HTC has been cookin’ this update up for some time now but has yet to release an official date. Now, we still don’t have an exact date but we do know that Android 2.1 will be coming to the HTC Hero in “mid-March”. This update, of course, will sport HTC’s critically acclaimed Sense UI.
When an exact date is known, you’ll be the first to know.

A couple of days ago we let you know that the Motorola CLIQ is to be available for just $10 with a 2-year contract through Wirefly. However, the device currently isn’t running the latest version of Android but if BGR is to be believed, that may all change quite soon.
According to said source, Motorola has released word that the CLIQ is expected to get updated to Android version 2.1 sometime in March. Although not confirmed, if this were to pan out it would be great news for consumers looking to get their Android fix on a budget.

Are you an iPhone developer? How about an iPhone developer looking to bring their creations to the iPad? If so, you’ll be happy to hear that Apple has just released iPhone SDK 3.2 beta 2 to those currently in their developers program.
Below is a list of changes included in beta 2:
▪ FIXED: Changing an iPhone Executable’s working directory from “Build Products directory” may cause the application not to install properly with the error message “The Info.plist for application at (null) specifies a CFBundleExecutable of (null), which does not exist.”
▪ FIXED: In iPhone SDK 3.2 beta 1, Xcode’s Transition feature did not work correctly if the SDK was installed in a location other than /Developer. In beta 2, the feature will work properly with the SDK installed in any location on your system.
▪ FIXED: In iPhone SDK 3.2 beta 1, some users saw the message “A signed resource has been added, modified or deleted…” when rebuilding their projects. This has been fixed for beta 2.
Furthermore, Gizmodo has gotten word that the reason we haven’t seen some brand spankin’ new iPad apps being shown off in the iPad simulator is because Apple isn’t allowing them too. I guess they really want to surprise the public with what this device is capable of come March.

I don’t know what it is about the romanticism of the zombie genre. Maybe its because we just want to live in a world apart from civilization, where the only law is survival.
So if you need a zombie fix, you might want to get ZombieHunter by StormBASIC SL for the iPhone and iPod touch. It has 3D graphics, animations, online scoring, and two gameplay modes: history and survival.
Believe it or not, it is available for free for a limited time. I don’t know how limited it is, so you might want to click here to download it now.

I love augmented reality, and this is one application known as Sky Siege that is very cool. There are no QR codes on this app, just a chance for you to shoot enemy aerial vehicles.
Sky Siege uses the iPhone’s 3GS compass and accelerometers in order to figure out where the player is, and so he or she can turn around and shoot a plane or blimp.
If you’re an iPhone user and you want to try it out, feel free to head over to the iTunes store and lay down $3.

What’s better than a Hero? How about a Legend. This is HTC’s newest Android device, and some shots of it have been appearing lately. It looks like the rendering.
Well, you can clearly see what looks like a speaker on the back, and the front looks like some interesting interface. I wonder if we’ll see it turn up at the Mobile World Congress?

I’m beginning to wonder if there will be any surprises at MWC. Not only has there been leaks of Samsung’s new Bada and AMOLED phone, but the Monte S5620.
Heck, we already know the features: it has a 3.0 inch capacitive WQVGA TFT touchscreen, 200MB of memory with an expandable microSD slot, 3.2 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, Bluetooth 2.1, Google Maps 3.0, and TouchWiz 2.0.
I suppose that we will hear more about this at Mobile World Congress. We shall see. We shall see.

Okay, we have reported that Samsung is working on Bada OS phone along with some super AMOLED, but now there is word that Samsung is producing a smartphone with both.
Apparently, this is a 3.3 inch, 800 x 480 pixel phone will be unveiled at a February 14th press event at Mobile World Congress, on Valentines Day. Man, how I wish I was in Barcelona that day.

There is a recent report that the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) has approved a ZTE F350.
So what is the ZTE F350? It has the Verizon branding and we don’t know exactly know if it is a slider, flip, or if it has a QWERTY somewhere. We do know that it has voice command, 1xRTT, as well as a camera. We don’t know when this will come out, but I’m sure it will be soon.

Depending on how you look at it, a price decrease is something that customers will cheer but can likewise symbolize reprieve for a faltering cause. This is with reference to rumors that the Apple iPad may be lowering its price soon, “nimble” but definitely lower.
At this point, the Apple iPad norms at $499 and should they adjust the price, competitors may be in for some trouble. Obviously a lot of them have come out with Apple iPad imitations with lower prices. But if the price discrepancy is just a couple of bucks, wouldn’t it be better to stick with the authentic brand that started it all?

Valentine’s Day is days away and if you are among the filthy rich who really want to give your girl something special, check out the Valentines version of the Vertu Constellation Ayxta. It practically looks like the base model only that it comes in a pink leather finish that should more or less tie it up with the feminine mobile phone lovers.
No price specification on how much this special version would cost but if you consider the price of the base model, around $10,500, you can bet that this Vertu Constellation Ayxta will cost you a whole lot more!

With reports of the Nokia 5230 Nuron coming out, the only definite thing here is that the phone is one and not different. The Nokia 5230 Nuron was shared by TmoNews through an internal T-Mobile documentation.
Features of the Nokia 5230 Nuron include a 3.2” touchscreen, an on-screen keyboard and OviStore. The Nokia 5230 Nuron is scheduled to come out by March 17. No word on pricing.

Nothing has been definite on the release of the iPhone 4G. There have been a lot of speculations on what it will come out with such as HD video support and some background applications. But now let us go a bit to the physical part of it. Rumors are flying that it will be taller than its previous iPhone brothers.
Some photos over at iResQ show a taller iPhone, about ¼ inches taller than the previous ones which measured 115m tall. Aside from that, it will have a reflective surface above the speaker and a LCD that is factory-glued to the digitizer. However, this is not yet the final design so don’t conclude just yet!

Some rumors include Refreshed MacBook Pros, iPonies (what?) and so on. Then again it could be nothing but what is the harm if you entertain a little bit of crazy ideas. Well the site is back up and nothing staggering has been found aside from the release of the Aperture 3 with faces and places tagging. So much for excitement!

Have you ever hear somebody, say “I wish I could get a cell phone that just makes and receives phone calls!” I believe I have, the cell phone for them, right here–the Samsung Knack.
The Samsung Knack, is somewhat rare in that it doesn’t offer much in the way of bells and whistles. In fact, it doesn’t offer much in the way of ANYTHING. Here’s what it does offer, though–it offers a speakerphone, caller ID, call timer, world clock, e911 compatibility, a phone book with capacity for five hundred names and numbers, alarm clock, calendar, basic calculator and a battery capable of generating four and a half hours of talk time.
Notice anything missing on that list? The BIGGEST thing gone from this particular list is a digital camera. There’s no web browser, either. No FM radio, that I can tell. In fact, there’s not much of anything in here that isn’t “make or receive phone calls”.
So if you’re looking for the absolute throwback in cell phone technology, yet you don’t want one that looks like those old boxy ones from the eighties, the Samsung Knack may be just the one you want.
The Good
Incredibly simple to use, quite possibly the simplest on the market
The Bad
Virtually no features of any sort

Once again, there is another free game for the iPhone and iPod Touch that I missed reporting on. First it was Valet Hero, now Lion’s Pride.
Lion’s Pride has nothing to do with that Siegfried and Roy Father of the Pride CG show that last only a handful of episodes on NBC. In Lion’s Pride, the player takes control of a pride of lions as they stalk their land and ambush prey.
It only costs $0.99 to download, so beat that! It’s almost free.

For those who have ever wanted to make it in Hollywood will now have their chance to start from the ground up with Valet Hero.
That’s right, feel free to park cars for the stars at “3 difficulty levels, 5 unique lots, and Open Feint integrations for achievements/leaderboards”. Just point and drag the car to park in the right spot.
The game was free yesterday, but sorry, I didn’t hear about it until today. But it only costs $1.99, but that ain’t much, is it?
