G-NET has announced the official release of their latest version of the G-NET Car PC packaged with Digital Dash 5 software. The CarPC is in its third revision, which offers greater performance with a 1.5GHz processor and faster DDR2 ram.

Having a Windows XP pc solution in your vehicle provides more multimedia features and endless uses. A CarPC provides functionality of a regular desktop computer inside your vehicle, with a compact design made specifically for use in a car. CarPC owners are able to browse the web, e-mail, use PC based GPS navigation software, use all of your applications and software, and even playback all file types of music and video files, etc.

Digital Dash 5 software is included to allow the user to safely and efficiently control the unit while the vehicle is in motion. The software provides an integrated audio player, video player, DVD player, web browser, vehicle diagnostics utility, and even a satellite radio module.

A team of neuroscientists Massachusetts Institute of Technology have built a computer with a human-like vision system that accurately classify cars, people and objects in a busy street scene.

The model computer contains 10 million computational units in which each is engineered for a specific part of our vision process. Currently the computer has been designed for only still images, but moving pictures will follow which is crucial for being able to identify and rank obstacles and risks. It is an amazing how this powerful computer can mimic the human eye.

Chrysler has unveiled a powerful, more fuel efficient V-8 engine today at the Chicago Auto Show. The 290 Horsepower, 4.7-liter V-8 follows the HEMI(R) lead in using two spark plugs per cylinder, and leverages increased compression ratio, improved cylinder head port flow and a new slant/squish combustion system design to substantially increase fuel economy, power and torque.

“The Chrysler Group continues to push the boundaries of engine technology, substantially increasing fuel-efficiency, performance and refinement,” said Bob Lee, Vice President - Powertrain Product Engineering Team, Chrysler Group. “Chrysler Group knows that while pickup customers always want more torque and power, fuel economy is becoming more important as fuel prices trend upward. Like our industry-leading HEMI(R), this new engine represents a win-win for our customers.”

Not only the fuel efficiency improved but also the automaker says that the new engine will provide vehicles a smoother ride.
