Hyundai Moto’s has presented the mass-production model of the HED-3, a concept car that was first seen on the Paris Show 2006 a few months ago. This model is now called i30, but its real project name is just ‘FD’, it can be classified as the European sedan in Korea market.
According to the company, the i30 is a strategic model expected to be launched in global market with the same name and Hyundai also has a plan to promote the model as a global brand like Sonata and Santa Fe.
Total money invested by Hyundai for the mass-production of the i30 was 195.5 billion (KRW).
The i30 will first be released in the Korean market, and there will be 4 different models named Trendy, Deluxe, Luxury, and Premier.

Parrot has recently introduced a new bluetooth car-kit device, the PMK5800. It is the type of device that can be connected to the cigarette lighter in your car and it starts providing useful functions, but the most important element is the FM transmitter that takes half the credit for the overall quality of the product.
The Parrot PK5800 uses the FM transmitter to provide music or voice directly into the car speakers, this means that you can start listening to the songs located on your MP3 player (as long as it features bluetooth) inside your car, with no need for wires or extra connections. They used the common technologies in these kind of devices, like echo cancellation, voice recognition and advanced digital signal processing.
Another useful feature on the PK5800 is the call-pickup function, which means that you only need to press a button in order to stop listening to the music and start a phone (voice) conversation. The bluetooth car-kit will cost ?89.

Audiovox has a new roof-mounted portable DVD player for your vehicle. Called the Audiovox Movies2Go, the player features a large 9.2″ LCD monitor. The display is a 16:9 widescreen one with 800×480 pixels resolution.
The player is compatible with NTSC and PAL video systems, and offers a wide viewing angle. You can also adjust the viewing angle manually with vertical adjustment up to 150°. There’s also an integrated IR transmitter for IR headphones.
For quieter ambience, it offers 2 AV inputs and one AV output. The Movies2Go player offers a slot-in DVD drive and can handle DVD+/-R, DVD+/-RW, CDDA, CDRW, MP3 and SVCD formats. There’s also a remote control for the player.

Check out the all new Parrot MK6100 Bluetooth hands-free car kit for cell phones. The new device was approved by the FCCa couple of days ago. For better call quality and improved noise reduction, Parrot uses dual microphones and new beamforming technology.
It also allows you to navigate the MK6100 menus using remote controls. Thanks to text-to-speech technology, you can easily know who is calling without having to look at the phone. If your phone/PDA supports the Bluetooth A2DP profile, you can also listen to music or podcasts.
The package consists of the control screen, screen bracket/cable, remote controls and the usual culprits (user guide and installation cables). No word on the pricing yet.

LG and DivX announced that the new LG LAD-9600 in-car DVD player has been DivX Certified. The LAD-9600 offers high-quality DivX playback on a large 7″ widescreen display. Transferring content is as easy as plugging it into your computer’s USB port and copying files.
The LAD-9600 also comes with Bluetooth support for file transfers. A 50W x 4 channel MOSFET amp delivers quality audio. Thanks to DivX certification, users can now enjoy videos in this format,
The LG LAD-9600 will hit markets in Mexico, Brazil, Chile and Central America. There’s no news of the player ever making it to the US shores, but I’m sure we will see them here somehow or the other.
No word on the pricing, though.

A great hands-free bluetooth solution could be the Parrot 3200, a full color display integrated Bluetooth car kit. The device features hands-free voice recognition and it is actually hard-wired into your vehicles speaker system, which provides clearer and louder audio. It can connect to a wide range of Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones.
Different screen modes can be accessed on the Parrot 3200 including Phone Book, Calls, Dial Number, and Settings. With the Phone Book users can store up to 150 contacts into the memory of the 3200 bluetooth device, making it easy to make calls. Photos stored on your mobile phone can also display when a certain caller is dialing in. The Phone book screen shows calls made, calls received, and calls missed. Wth the Dial Number mode, users can input a phone number to call using the front scroll wheel. Settings allows the users to manage his/her contacts, connect to devices, change to a different language, set-up voice commands, and change the display background. Parrot also offers the 3400 LS-GPS series, which is basically the same as the 3200 except for the addition of integrated GPS.

XM has a couple of new satellite radios, in the form of the XpressR and XpressEZ, allowing users to access over 170 channels via satellite for sports, news and music. In addition, the XpressR holds the distinction of being the first satellite radio with a split screen display.
The XpressR’s split screen lets users view up to six different XM channels. Essentially, the screen splits up into two sections, with the current channel on the left side and the other five channels on the right side. You can choose to view by channel name, song title or artist.
You can also quickly change channels by pressing the channel number. A remote control lets you pause/replay or jump to your preferred channel. You can also get alerted when your favorite song or show is on.

Recently approved by the FCC is the Mobilus 3.0 Stolen Vehicle tracking system. The Mobilus system helps car owners safeguard their vehicle from being stolen and also helps to locate if stolen. Not only does the system include a telematics unit to communicate and transmit the vehicles location to the security central, it also provides the owners with a sense of security with anti-theft features. When one tries to start the Mobilus equipped vehicle without the provided remote, the vehicles ignition will be disabled and an alarm will activate. To obtain the location of the missing vehicle, simply log-in to the Mobilus webpage which will provide a marked location on a detailed map of North America.

Segway Inc. is now sponsoring the release of 10 MPH. 10 MPH is a documentary which revolves around two aspiring filmmakers on a 100-day journey across the U.S. on a Segway? Personal Transporter (PT) and was filmed in the year 2004. Having made its name in Europe and America, car navigation is now introduced in Australia with advancement through Pioneer AVIC-HD3. This built-in HDD to 2DIN size comes with entertainment and navigation functions. It is estimated that this new HDD will take the Australian car Nabi market to a further level. This new device will arrive in market in June 2007.

Clarion’s new Bluetooth audio/mobile phone transceiver, the BLT370, got approved by the FCC. More and more wireless gadgets - all ready to take over your vehicle - have been getting approvals recently. The BLT370 hands-free kit lets you utilize your vehicle’s built-in audio system for streaming music wirelessly as well as make/receive calls from your phone.
The BLT370 is intelligent enough to switch between music streaming and hands-free mode. The transceiver unit comes with four buttons, two to control volume and another two to receive/hang-up a call. You can conveniently fix the transceiver unit using velcro or to the car’s sun visor.
The Bluetooth advanced audio distribution profile (A2DP) is supported, along with audio/video remote control profile (AVRCP). No word on the pricing yet, but knowing that the FCC has given its approval, the Clarion BLT370 should hit the streets soon.

The folks over at the FCC approved the Bose Media Center, a premier audio/navigation system with bleeding edge technology. The Media Center comes with several useful functions on the front of the device, including zoom-in/zoom-out for the maps.
The Source Information Display is where all the action is, displaying the currently playing media or selected station. When the thing is finally fitted onto your car, you also get volume control on the steering wheel.
Supported broadcast sources include AM, FM, XM and TV. Other modes available on the Bose Media Center include CD/DVD, iPod, Music Library and U-Music. It supports MP3, WAV and WMA audio formats. There is also integration with your cell phone presumably via Bluetooth.
No word on the pricing or availability yet, but it should be out soon.

Mercedes- Benz and SIRIUS Satellite Radio have announced that they will be increasing the rate of installations of SIRUS radios in Mercedes Benz vehicles. For 2007 installation will increase to more than 80% and the following year in 2008 and 2009 will increase to over 90%.
The luxury automaker will make SIRIUS standard equipment on this year S-Class and CLS. New models with SIRIUS will be available at dealerships later this year. Mercedes will the SIRUS service for a complete six months.

Kenwood’s A/V line brings out a new addition with an all new first in-dash navigation/DVD/monitor all-in-one system, the DNX1700. The unit receives a large 6.9” screen and comes standard with a remote. It also features flash-drive navigation technology. The unit is now shipping and is priced around $1,400.

Robert Q. Riley, designer, has worked out a new diesel\electric hybrid three-wheeled vehicle. On sale to consumers- with the vehicle; will be the plans. FRP or fiber-reinforced-plastic,will be constructed over the chassis, to ensure a correct fit.
The XR3 Hybrid will be able to travel on electric power only; up to 40 miles and offers plug-in capability. Lithium-ion batteries provide the power. Alternatively, included is the small diesel engine, which, along with the electric motor, should be able to provide between 125-225 miles per gallon.
