07 Feb 10 Charge your devices on the bike with pedal power

rollergen3-thumb-550x413-33386I’m sure that most of you have used hand-cranked generators in science class, so why not actually take it out of the inapplicable classroom and apply that science to charging your mobile devices?

This is what the RollerGen bike mounted generator is designed to do. As you pedal along, all the energy you burn gets put in a battery that resembles a bar of soap.

Of course, this costs about $495 for this system, which is pretty steep.

06 Feb 10 Macally FM Transmitter for iPhone and iPod

fmport_titleMacally is a popular creator of accessories for mobile devices, mp3 players, laptops, and other units, but their most recent release is related to the iPhone and iPod.

The product is called Macally FMport, and its main function is to provide a way of listening to music via your car radio system, or on your home audio system – all thanks to the iPhone and iPod. It’s obvious that the device can also be used as a charger for both Apple devices, and a remote control is included.

06 Feb 10 Linos USB Vinyl Record Player

500x_linosaoThis USB peripheral are for those that wished that vinyl records had never “gone out” in the eighties. It is a way of playing an LP without a turntable.

As you can see, the vinyl disc is stuck in between the two arms, and it will be sandwhiched there as it spins. The user can then adjust the arm to the proper track.

This device is still a concept, but it is certainly the best way to play a record using a computer.

03 Feb 10 iDrift for iPad racing games, if any

500x_idriftI just finished reporting on Nokia’s Ovi Labs Racing, and if that game were available for the iPad, this would be the peripheral that you need.

This iDraft, a concept model from designer Micheal Greenberg, definitely looks like “the” accessory to have for racing games. Now, if only the iPad had racing games.

03 Feb 10 Scosche solBAT II solar powered charger

solbatScosche has put out some good mobile products over the years, and they have just made a solar charger with a 1500mAh capacity battery and 5-volt output.

It can be placed on the windshield of a car, but it takes 4-5 days to charge up the internal battery using the solar panel. Yes, that does sound like a lot of time, but the charger costs little money at $30.

02 Feb 10 OreObject SPHEREtouch mouse is one metal ball

spheretouchSome of you may remember when we covered the Jelfin, a ball-shaped mouse covered in squishy gel like a stress ball. Apparently, OreObject believes that users want balls of steel.

Actually, the SPHEREtouch comes with the buyer’s choice of steel, titanium, and platinum. I know you may not see it, but it does have a large horizontal scroll wheel and two-touch sensitive buttons.

The cost varies depending on what metal you want for it. The steel is $155 and the platinum is $225. How much for the gold?

01 Feb 10 Wacom lauches wireless version of the Intuos4

PTK540WL_AngleOnWhite_RGB_610x405Wacom has put out some very terrific tablets for the digital pen, and they have now gone wireless.

It looks like they are starting with the Intuos4, a pad that I have tried out. The wireless version uses Bluetooth and replaceable lithium ion battery that can charge with a USB connection. The Intuos4 will automatically power down after 30 minutes of non-use, so it won’t drain the battery. It is only available in the medium size only for about $50 more than its usual price.

31 Jan 10 The HARApad for Laptop Radiation Protection

The HARApad One thing about most gadgets today like mobile phones and laptops is that they do emit some harmful radiation. But thanks to accessories such as the HARApad, you can counter these Electromagnetic Radiations (EMR), known to cause cancer and infertility.

Also, the HARApad provides your laptop with a cool working surface that is available in your choice of color (white, black, red, blue and green). There are two versions of the HARApad: the Original HARApad priced at $49.99 (can reportedly block up to 80% of the EMR) and the HARApad Elite (can block nearly 100% of EMR) which costs $74.99.

30 Jan 10 AirMouse comes straight out of Minority Report

airmouse_500x304

Clearly, someone at Deanmark really enjoys Minority Report, or else they would have never come up with this glove interface that Tom Cruise was using in the opening sequence. The sensors are on the thumb, index finger, and middle finger, for crying out loud! Steven Spielberg might sue.

This AirMouse (not to be confused with the one that Logitech makes) is completely wireless, uses and optical laser, and can run for a week on a single charge. It is also very accurate, as it can align with the ligaments of a user’s hand and wrist.

Deanmark, a Canadian company, is planning to release the mouse this year for about $129. Too bad it doesn’t come with that cool and curvaceous transparent screen that Tom Cruise was using.
