BUGlabs Modular Gadget Factory can be a GPS, security system, update Twitter feed, draw pictures, and the list goes on. BUG is a platform for rapid prototyping, learning and experimentation. BUG is a set of tools that lets you create personalized devices and gadgets. It’s open-source and modular so it lets you literally snap together the device you need and because BUG is open-source, it doesn’t impede your creativity. When you get an idea for a gadget, you can just pop it together.
Here are some examples of what you can do: if you are unhappy with Google maps street view, simply snap on the GPS module and the camera, and code your BUG to take geotagged photos at specific intervals and roll your own. Perhaps your garden is being chomped on by some unseen entity. Pop a motion-detector and a camera onto the BUGbase, write some Java, and you’ve got gadget that will catch the critter that is roaming through your yard. The possibilitites are endless. The BUG and all its modules are open and well documented so feel free to hack away. Retails for $579.00
